Actually I did drive my street legal race car (BMW E30 318iS) on the road here in Germany and in many other european countries because I didnt have a trailer nor a towing vehicle at that time. Motorsport costs a lot of money, and every cent I earned went into that car. I constructed it with my limited ressources and with this in mind I made it street legal, which is quite a process in Germany. It took me a lot of afford and one year of building on every free minute to get it finally legal. The idea was to have a car that I could take to the track, race it there, and make it back to home on the own wheels. So, obviously I needed a car to commute to work every day and to do my grocery shopping. And I thought I could do this in my race car. I mean, how cool is that? It wasnt to bad actually. I mean, okay. The car is not that comfortable. If you hit a bump, it feels like an earthquake. The springs were to hard for the street, so the car was jumping all over and was losing traction. I even felt the leaves on the street in autumn. Literally! No joke here. There was no air condition, and in order to get in the car you had to climb over the side arch of the rollcage. Getting strapped into the seat and getting the engine started took several minutes. There was no isolation either. So all the heating from the engine and from the gear box came in. At a racing session during summer I had 60 degrees Celsius in the car... With all my protecting gear on. On the street I had to open my door on each traffic light. Otherwise it would have grilled me. When driving on the street many people did have diffrent reactions. Some random people took pictures. I dont know how many appeared on facebook or other social networks. Some people got very upset somehow and yelled at me or came up with insults? Some people didnt spend their attention on the road, just looking and waving at me while driving, which caused many times dangerous situations. Some people wanted to race at the traffic lights (which I didnt do). When cold the brakes wouldnt work that well... I mean, they were really not there. You press the pedal and it happens next to nothing, which is quite scarry. When you touching the brake pedal slightly when the discs are hot, then you end up with someone in your rear, because no one expects so much braking power in an old car. Also I remember a traffic jam in the summer. With no aircon. All the time reving the engine because when you didnt it went out - which again upsets many people here in Germany. They dont understand this concept of sharp camshafts... All the time pressing the heavy clutch pedal. All the time thinking of how bad a traffic jam is to that car... All the time thinking of the next race and what could go wrong there if I am to hard to the car on the street. People were always around me asking many questions and get literally dissapointed if you told them that your fancy race car has "only" 160 hp (which is quite a lot for a 1.8 litre car of that era in a historic touring car series in an "stock" group - also again it saves cost which are very drastic in motorsports). So to dont tell them the whole story why I choosed a car only with 160 hp and to dont hear them saying "My Volkswagen is making moar powah then this thing" I told them that it had 350 hp. Dead silence after that. But otherwise it was quite interesting, it feeled like I was Steve McQueen (but without cancer). I didnt drove the car to long as a daily, tho. Not because I couldnt do it, but the car was unreliable. It broke often down and I spent many days and weeks repairing it. After each race I had to replace many parts and it got to stressful at the end. I figured out that a second car was quite handy for the winter time. That way I could work at the race car, while driving spare parts all around with the other car. It was also cheaper... But I still drove the race car to the tracks and made test drives on public roads. I sold my car in 2017. Kept in for almost 6 years and racing it through the tracks of Germany, Italy, France, Belgium, Netherlands and Austria. I will never forget these times. But now I am 30, and I want to fullfill other dreams.
I forgot to mention that the girls I met during that time were pretty excited about the car. Yes, the car was very loud and you couldnt hear them talking, but this was the best feature of it. :)) Also three girls sayed that the vibrations from the motor, transmission and the drive shaft feeled "good" to them. :) My girlfriend (we are 4 years a couple) and me made a few long range trips with the car for a weekend or so to another city. Or to a far away race track. She enjoyed it. Wasnt to bad to be honest.
I really agree with the attention part. Every time I'm done filling at the gas station and start my car 90% of people look with a huge grin on their face. But I don't get as many questions so I'm cool with answering the ones I do get. And yea I get people asking if mine's a V8 even tho it's a VQ37VHR but the setup makes it kinda sound like one (it's rumbly, hits your chest, and has a deep tone). Honestly the fun is worth it all.
I only daily drive a lowered 4G eclipse. Not fast not quick just clean and looks good. No crazy wheels, no crazy body kits. Just a stock slammed eclipse. Looks really good.

Just smile and give them a peace sign. That’s what I do, anyway; but I drive a car from the ‘70’s, so it’s fitting.
So since my car is in the 80s what do I do, throw up the rock on horns?
Monsters 2 for $3.33? I'm happy when I can find them $2 for $4.50! Unusually they're like $3 a piece here!
Wasnt to bad to be honest.
all you need to say is
"why? because RACECAR. racecar spelled backwards is also racecar."
Honestly the fun is worth it all.
not going to happen...valve adjustments to save my wearing cams because i'm locked into vtec and the car idles like a 2 stroke dirt bike @2400rpms
I only daily drive a lowered 4G eclipse. Not fast not quick just clean and looks good. No crazy wheels, no crazy body kits. Just a stock slammed eclipse. Looks really good.
I normally drive me exo cage boosted Pontiac Solstice and god is it fun lol
Your spot on man, every time I took a girl out in my 2004 wrx sti rally car it was that same situation.
1 season, 1 whole season without something in need of replacing is all I ask!
I love watching these, I've watched this entire playlist twice already I'm sure. Fitment Industries ftw
Awsome alex u be making me laugh so hard milk comes out my nose
Get your Fitment right, before you get left! Could there be a video on the different types of wheel weights. Method 502 weigh more than my Drag 69 rims. When is it ok to daily drive a light rim vs a heavy one.
When you daily your autocross Miata that’s loud and you live in the country people don’t like 😂🙃
I can't imagine why😂
Fitment Industries everyone hates it 😂but idc it may be slow but I enjoy it

Linus Tech Tips for cars
I dont own a race car, but I know the feeling when people stare and snap pics. Driving a Russian camo celica gt will get more attention than I originally expected. The most common question I get is "did you do it yourself?" No, its professionally rattle canned. Oh, and "why?" My answer, why not?
There will be a ticket. In some places you cannot drive an F1 car on the street. It’s not street legal.
So true. All of it. Thanks had me rolling.
Damn, I got so triggers when I saw Orion (LifeOD)
So I own a track car and that whole "having to explain why I'm walking around the store with steering wheel in hand" just screamed my name 😂😂 I've caught 2 people in the past trying to steal my baby and I lost trust in people. I even walk around my college campus with my steering wheel 😂 I'm that scared for someone to take my car
Nice argument. did you consider to make some contet about the europe car scenes? You guys work it out.
Yes plz!
Peace sign is my go-to when people take pics
