My mechanic told me that this was a very laborious job and that he would charge $180 .... I'm going to change my filter and my mechanic at once ... Thank you.
OMG! I checked my cabin air filter today and found a MOUSE NEST inside!!!! It was PACKED! BTW, I am a 52 year old woman doing this because my Hyundai Dealership wanted to charge me $50 for changing the cabin air filter and the air filter located in the engine! I did it myself!
Thanks! I have directions for the engine air filter at the end of the spark plug replacement video, as that one doesn't need replacement as often. It is possible for a mouse to get in to the cabin air filter. The top part is open to the area under the plastic cowl panel under the windshield wipers. I had to have my windshield replaced and I got to look inside after they took out the glass. I could actually see the filter - probably could have pulled it out from behind if I wanted to! The air flow into the car comes in from the cowl vent panel to that filter, then thru the filter to the blower fan which is under it, and then to pass over the heater core or a/c evaporator and then out to the ducts. So that filter traps anything solid from the outside. I would imagine that it gets wet regularly because water drains down thru the cowl vent panel under the wipers, so keeping the filter too long could lead to it becoming moldy - although the material is probably treated so it lasts a while.
Just wanted to report that I own a 2016 Tucson LHD, and the clip to open was indeed on the right side. Your instructions saved a lot of time, so thanks for the video 👍
Man! This video helped me in so many ways! That small little typo in the instruction manual almost caused me to snap the clip myself. Once I noticed the clip was on the left it was smooth sailing from there. Thanks so much!
I just changed mine on our 2017 Tucson, left hand drive, and ghe clip is on the right hand side. Good video and you really encouraged me to do it myself instead of taking it to a dealer. Piece of cake!
You saved me 5x what I spent last time at the dealership getting hoodwinked ($100 for filter and install vs. $20 filter at Autozone and doing it myself). I'm almost embarrased how easy and fast the replacing was. Thanks for the detailed walk-through.
Bruce Leibowitz the dealer wanted $100 for a new filter and installation (a rip off as the dealer normally is). This time I did it myself from autozone for a total of $20
I guess Im asking the wrong place but does any of you know of a method to log back into an Instagram account?? I was stupid lost my password. I would appreciate any assistance you can give me!
@Trenton Kabir Thanks for your reply. I found the site through google and I'm in the hacking process now. I see it takes a while so I will reply here later when my account password hopefully is recovered.
You made a great video and thanks for saving me approx Aus $50.00 I had not changed the filter before and have had the car since new for 5 years, the cabin air filter may have been changed at least once before at the dealer. The only "trap for new players" was working out if my car was built in South Korea or the Czech Republic as the first filter I purchased was the Korean version and is slightly smaller by just enough to make it unuseable than the ones used in the Czech version. As we drive on the left hand side of the road our glove box is setup as a mirror image of the USA cars, the filter cover panel unclips on the right side but everything else you described was spot on, thanks again Bruce, you have earned yourself another subscriber.
great video did it in 2 seconds..I however was trying to add scent to the filter..1 hack I saw sprinkled vanilla fluff... I diluted a little laundry soap and sprinkled that on filter..it smells great..your video is excellent!!!!
Thanks for the video. Guy at Mr Lube offered to change it during my last oil change (for a price of course!), but I was able to do it myself in 5 minutes.
Yeah, the trans is the one thing I don't like about it. It can be a bit jerky at times but if driven just right it is smooth. That's probably why they discontinued it for 2018.
Ahhhh that does make sense! The Tucson was sold in many countries and they probably re-used portions of the manual instead of publishing a complete new one. Typical Hyundai - trying to save a buck on their production cost!
I really don't know. The blower is inside behind the dash I think. To clean the air inlet you'd probably have to remove the plastic cowl panel under the hood but I never tried that.
I did a search online at Autozone and O'Reilly's and there's STP ($15.99) and Wix ($19.99) brands but not in stock, order only. The online dealer I used sells the OEM one for 25% off of list price - www.hyundaioemparts.com/

Yeah, that's what I did....just not at first. I had never actually replaced a cabin filter located inside. I had a couple Fords with cabin filters - the older one was accessible from under the hood in between two sections of the firewall, and the newer model was under the glove box but getting to it was a major pain in the ass that i let the dealer do it. Leave it to the Koreans to design one that can be so easily removed! Interestingly, I had my windshield replaced recently on this Tucson and they had to remove the plastic cowl panel under the hood to access the base of the windshield and the cabin filter was exposed and looked like I could just pull it out from the engine compartment side! Nothing else covering it.
My mechanic told me that this was a very laborious job and that he would charge $180 .... I'm going to change my filter and my mechanic at once ... Thank you.
I'm 86 followed these instructions, start to finish less the 10 minutes........Nice presentation easy to follow, thank you
Glad you mentioned the arrow point since replacement filter pointed up and removed filter down. Yippee replaced!

Thanks! I'm going to be doing a new video soon on the 2022 model.
Man! This video helped me in so many ways! That small little typo in the instruction manual almost caused me to snap the clip myself. Once I noticed the clip was on the left it was smooth sailing from there. Thanks so much!
Thanks Bruce ! Great that you pointed out the owners manual's mistake about the clip being on the wrong side of the cover.
Awesome video. I am a retired female and I replaced my filter without the help of a man! Thanks
I just changed mine on our 2017 Tucson, left hand drive, and ghe clip is on the right hand side.
Good video and you really encouraged me to do it myself instead of taking it to a dealer.
Piece of cake!
Mine too right side. Have an european model, maybe?
You saved me 5x what I spent last time at the dealership getting hoodwinked ($100 for filter and install vs. $20 filter at Autozone and doing it myself). I'm almost embarrased how easy and fast the replacing was. Thanks for the detailed walk-through.
$100 for a cabin filter? Nothing else? That's way overpriced. In my area I think its $39.95 with no installation fee.
Bruce Leibowitz the dealer wanted $100 for a new filter and installation (a rip off as the dealer normally is). This time I did it myself from autozone for a total of $20
Jenkins Hyundai in Jacksonville FL wants $65 to do this 😂 $20 filter at Walmart 👍
Thank you, I've been begging my husband to change mine. I bet I won't ask again. I'm going out in my garage to change it right now!!
Dealer charger me $100 to replace this. Won’t spend that next year! Thanks for the video.
Thanks for taking the time to show how to correctly install a new cabin air filter, it took me less than 5 minutes to complete, great demo.
I guess Im asking the wrong place but does any of you know of a method to log back into an Instagram account??
I was stupid lost my password. I would appreciate any assistance you can give me!
@Baker Patrick instablaster =)
@Trenton Kabir Thanks for your reply. I found the site through google and I'm in the hacking process now.

@Trenton Kabir it worked and I now got access to my account again. Im so happy!
Thank you so much, you saved my ass!
@Baker Patrick No problem :D

Great video! In my Hyundai it was actually as it shows in the instruction, the clip was on the right side.
Mission accomplished thanks to this clear, concise video! Thank you so much!!
Great video! I never opened the car's manual. Took 5 mins. Thank you!
Thank you very much for taking the time to do this video. I will be able to change my filter today because of your thorough instructions.
Thank you so much for taking the time to post this. Much appreciated.
Just changed my Tucson’s cabin air filter!! Thanks a lot
Thank you so much. This video made the process very easy on my 2017 Tucson.
thank you for taking the time to record and share
great video did it in 2 seconds..I however was trying to add scent to the filter..1 hack I saw sprinkled vanilla fluff... I diluted a little laundry soap and sprinkled that on filter..it smells great..your video is excellent!!!!
Wow did you save me from messing up that right hand side. Thanks a million!!!!
You’re the man. I should have timed myself but I’m sure I did it in less than a minute. Thank you!
Did it myself following your instructions!!! Thank you!!!
Very clear and done professionally.
Thanks!
Thanks for the video. Guy at Mr Lube offered to change it during my last oil change (for a price of course!), but I was able to do it myself in 5 minutes.
Great video! Accurate, concise and well made.
Thanks!
Thank you so much - you made this a quick task for me!!!
Fantastic video - well explained - thanks!!!!
Very nice presentation, keep up the good work.
Thanks!
Excellent video easy to follow money saver. Thank you
Hey Bruce new subscriber here! Whats the bright blue part that's in our tuscons on the bottom left of the cabin air filter door?
I'm not sure. I don't have the 2017 Tucson anymore so I can't go out and look. I will soon have to make a new video for the '22 Tucson!
Thanks Bruce! Very helpful. Nice job videoing it. Going to go change mine now.
Good job man on detecting this menial mistake. I have this Limited Ed.16 and man the transmission sucks.
Yeah, the trans is the one thing I don't like about it. It can be a bit jerky at times but if driven just right it is smooth. That's probably why they discontinued it for 2018.
Bruce Leibowitz really? Wow! Design is awesome though!
Love the truck but holy crap does the transmission suck! Can you say turbo lag?
Thanx ,best reg. from Germany
Thank you. This was so helpful!!!
It's not a mistake. The manual was written for Right hand drive models.
Ahhhh that does make sense! The Tucson was sold in many countries and they probably re-used portions of the manual instead of publishing a complete new one. Typical Hyundai - trying to save a buck on their production cost!
@@bml33 yup. I own a left hand drive and it says same.
Thanks, you saved me from breaking mine.
Thanks Bruce!
Very nice presentation! Thank you!
Thanks, you save my day and money
Thank you for the instructable, very very helpful.
Interesting that on your car the air filter door is open on the left. My 2017. Tucson is in the correct orientation as per your manual.
Do you have the right hand drive model? I think they are reversed on those.
@@bml33 No, left hand drive. I am in Europe and have opened the compartment just the other day.
Very helpful. Thanks a lot!
Nice Video. Thank you Sir.
thanks for the video
Thanks from Germany!
Very helpful video thanks so much
I did some research - the right side tab error is from the pre 2015 models whereby the right side tab existed. Shame they don't update these manuals!!
Interesting! They saved some money on not updating the manuals.
Thanks a ton :)
Thanks for the video!
Thank you Bruce. from Israel…
Thanks mate, good video
It can be done by removing the first 2 clips and then taking the air filter cover off. You only need to remove more if you are struggling to access.
Thank you very helpful 👍
Very nice video! Do you happen to have a 2017 Hyundai Tucson front mesh removal or if possible make one for aftermarket horn replacement? Thanks!
Very easy... if I can show you how difficult to replace the 2015 mustang you will understand what I am talking about
I had a 15 Mustang. It was a bear to replace it.
Thank you the tip. It helps!
Thanks for the tip👍🏻
Hi. How do you clean out leaves when they fall into the blower ?
Do you drop the blower
Whats the easy way?
I really don't know. The blower is inside behind the dash I think. To clean the air inlet you'd probably have to remove the plastic cowl panel under the hood but I never tried that.
Thanks for video
Great video. Thank you so much.
Thank you for this video
Thanks I learned
Thanks! I hope to make more videos like this.
Is the front filter the only filter? Is there none for the centre air vents at the back?
No, all of the HVAC air flows through one filter.
@@bml33 awesome. Thanks so much for replying. I just bought a filter today and planning to replace it myself *crosses finger*
In european models cover is indeed released from left hand side. Also, p/n of the filter is not the same. Great video, though, thanks.
Correction: From right hand side, like in manual. :)
Thanks a lot for video🇦🇿
Thanks alot!!
Come from the left side. Thanks for the tip.
Thank you so much!!!
Thank you.
THANKS!
Thank you😊
Where did you get the filter from ?
This is the site I used: hyundai.oempartsonline.com/
Thanks
Thank youuuu!!
How often do these get changed?
Once a year is a good starting point unless you drive in a very dusty environment.
Thanks.
Grazie !!
So I was told that the dealer only sells the cabin filter ....is this true?
I did a search online at Autozone and O'Reilly's and there's STP ($15.99) and Wix ($19.99) brands but not in stock, order only. The online dealer I used sells the OEM one for 25% off of list price - www.hyundaioemparts.com/

Hyundai Part#: 97133-D1000 or 97133-D3000 (Cabin Air Filter)
Nice
Español por favor 🙂
Manual misleads real bad.
common sense, you should have look at the otherside(left) if you noticed there nothing to be pinched/press as per the manual says.
