Didn’t end well
My recent ex-girlfriend wanted to 'save" another dude because he was going through a tough time as a result of his brother's suicide. Also, he was apparently transitioning into a new career and was finding that difficult. She admitted to speaking regularly on the phone to him and also took him out to dinner and paid for it! I found the receipt on the bedroom floor one morning. Her affection towards me dropped even though we were still physical. Suddenly she needed a 'break'. I'll give her the gift of missing me permanently.

My husband of 22 years wanted to help out his childhood sweetheart, because she had a difficult life, mainly because of all the men she’d gone through and children she’d had by them 😔.
I told him that by ‘helping’ her out, he was actually putting me into emotional distress.
An ultimatum caused him to walk away from me and our kids.
I guess he wants to be her 5th husband.

I had been married for over fifty years. My husband at 74 was still very handsome and in good physical shape. As far as I know he had never had an affair on me during our marriage. We sold our home and moved into a small apartment building. We just loved it and we’re enjoying having the money from our home to travel and have fun. Probably the best and happiest few years of our lives together as we had the time and the money to enjoy ourselves. A younger women (60 year old) moved in after we had been there for a few years. My husband and her both smoked (the only two people in the building who smoked). She started flirting with him outrageously right in front of me. She would always say to me, we are just having fun, he reminds me of my late husband. They started going out to the gazebo for a smoke 5 - 6 times a day, I used to get knots in my stomach and just knew something was going on, Even at night they would be out in the dark in the gazebo. He kept telling me that it was all in my head and that they were just friends. My husband became sick and was diagnosed with lung cancer and given 3 months to live. I spent every day running back and forth to doctors appointments, and the hospital.. every day she would come knocking on my door. I would tell her that he is resting and she would push past me and come into our apartment. One day she just kissed him full on the lips right in front of me. I couldn’t believe the way she was behaving. By this time my husband wasn’t smoking any more. I was a nervous wreck and the stress was killing me. I have fibromyalgia and I was in a constant flare up due to the extra stress on me. Before he was diagnosed with cancer, he told me she needed some help to fix her kitchen faucet. I went with him and when she opened the door she asked what I was doing there. She had a beer opened for him (even though he didn’t drink) and said she thought he would have stayed for a drink. She was always looking for ways to be alone with him. My husband told me one day that she had asked him to join her in her car at night when it was very cold out. He told her it wasn’t a good idea. I confronted her with it the next day and told her it was inappropriate to be asking a married man to get into her car. She just laughed at me. My husband passed away after his three month prognosis. She moved to the US (we live in Canada) a few months later. She would phone me on his birthday and on the anniversary of his death, calling me her friend. That is totally not normal. I finally wrote her a letter telling her not to contact me any more. I don’t consider her a friend. I am so devastated about the disrespect my husband gave me during the last few years of his life. I gave that man my whole life. I took care of him to the best of my ability right up to the end. The stress I went through was unbearable. It is 3 years not and I still can’t get over what happened. I just feel so betrayed. A part of me realized that most men who had a young woman constantly flirt with them would feel very flattered and enjoy the attention. I keep wondering if he hadn’t died, if they would have had a full affair and we would have separated. I feel like my 53 years with him was a waste. We did have a lot of good times, but he always was very difficult to live with as he was very controlling. I had a heart attack a year after he passed away from all the stress I went through. Sorry for such a long reply, I just needed to get this off my chest. It’s,not something I can talk to anyone about, not even my closest friends.

I was the "other woman" in an emotional affair. I knew about her, but he talked about breaking up with her, about how unhappy she made him, detailed all their little fights, and showed me how she was always apologizing to him (text messages, etc). None of his social media indicates that he has a girlfriend. He made up so many excuses as to why I could never meet her. He flirted, played footsie, tickled me, let me wear his clothing, took me to dinner, held my hand... and he really made it seem like he was gonna leave her for me. Turns out he was talking to a bunch of other women, too; I was just his main target.
When I confronted him, he gas lit me and said he always treated me like a friend. I blocked him on everything and am going no contact because I'm pretty sure he's a narcissist or at least has narcissistic tendencies. Even though I'm heartbroken over it, I know I'm better off without him in my life. Your videos are very helpful, thank you.

If there's nothing going on, there should be no reason for them to immediately get defensive and start trying to find things they perceive wrong with your logic. They also shouldn't be afraid to introduce you because they're afraid of how the interaction might go. I’m not sticking around my husband if he is emotionally cheating. I’m not laying in the same bed with you or living with you.
Currently going through the effects of this as my 6 year relationship recently ended. He started acting really distant and we kept arguing. O My God! Stephanie why do I feel you wrote what I went through exactly. 12 years of marriage and situation ditto as yours. His emotional affair started at work place, he started acting different, change in habbits and behaviour. Gaslit me with sudden criticism, lied repeatedly times and saying he doesn't talk much to the person he was spending time with. I found later he would lie every time.

This video made me feel better about myself. She had three "friends" in specific. I noticed that one of them that she was texting she was having a text conversation with the night before. He was coming over to meet us so I checked her phone to see when he was coming to the door. Funnily enough, there were no prior conversations from the night before. She had deleted them. Then she told me that her phone automatically deletes conversations and I believed every word she was saying. She made me feel bad for asking why there was no conversations from the night before. And of course she reassured me that they were "just friends." I stopped seeing them get touchy feely after I told her it hurt me and then eventually she cut him off for an outside reason. The next friend would also constantly take her out to eat, ride with her to places in and out of work, (as they worked together) and I once called her and he was on the beach with her and a friend that she said she was with. Posted up in a chair sitting down. We had a rule that she would tell me if she was going out with him. She told me that he had literally just showed up and it was too quick for her to message me that he was there. But she never told me he was coming. Made me feel bad. I would hear them talk sexual jokes to each other and I asked her to stop because it hurt me. I remember being in a room with them weeks after this conversation and they making explicit jokes to each other. I didn't say anything because it was such an uncomfortable situation, and the amount that I was shamed I just never brought it up. Not to mention I was compared to him on multiple occasions. No sex or intimacy for over a month while I was spending the holiday with her and her family for the majority of that time but still no sex for a few weeks before that. She would leave for the day to go to the library and come back later at night because she had "things to work on." For her online sales company.Fast forward to being long distance in our relationship, I remember the last time we were together she called me to ask why I wasn't giving her enough attention. And that her friends boyfriend of two weeks gave her friend way more attention than I gave her. I remember dropping the phone and beating my pillow as hard as I could, yelling at the top of my lungs for a few minutes (I muted my phone but left it on the table next to me) and when I got back on the phone she just asked why I was gone. I told her what had happened. And she said "I just want a little more attention, there's nothing wrong with that." That was the end of it for me, I feel like I finally woke up after everything.

The phone thing is spot on. As soon as I realized she changed her password (she had the same for 10 years) I knew something was wrong. Then it was her taking her phone wherever she went into the house (she would often forget where she put it before, a least once a week), then the texting with the screen hidden from me, then the phone lock or gaslighting everytime I was asking her who she was texting... and here it was, the emotional affair.

Each and every word you say was part most of my married life and at the end it was complete ignorance and shamelessly talking on phone whole day and night even on weekends and that too with room closed or moving out of home for random walks. I finally moved out and it was just emotional abuse. No use of confronting , no answers. The phone part was just apt. He started keeping complicated passwords for last 5 years.
