  • A comprehensive DIY for replacing the power window motor on the front passenger door of my 2006 Nissan Murano. This is also helpful for learning how to pull the interior door panel.
    My window motor failed because there are two gears internal to the motor. One is plastic and the other is metal. The metal gear destroyed part of the plastic gear. This will probably be a common Murano repair.

    I just added better speakers myself and was wondering how well the sound dampening worked out. I get a serious rattling...

      Make sure there’s nothing in the door pockets. Also, make sure your lock rods are secure and that there’s nothing hanging out in the bottom of the door itself. These doors were especially well suited for speakers if properly dampened lIke this. One of my best audio systems I’ve ever done.

      @@JoesCarSmartsNY do you think it would be worth taking the window out completely to dampen the outer skin as well?

    • @JoesCarSmartsNY
      @JoesCarSmartsNY  6 месяцев назад

      @@TheMudnurface That’s what I did. I dampened the outer skin and both sides of the inside skin. I spent a TON of time prepping those doors. But the result was excellent. I used a 25W X 4 Amplifier to run the from stage speakers. Never needed more to always be impressed with the sound.

    good video,heres a question for you ive got a 2003 nissan elgrand,the window works only when i give the door a bang ,ive taken the door panel of to get to the motor ,but unfortunitly its a completly sealed door,theres a smallish hole where the motor is where the wires plug into it,i dont suppose you would have any info on dealing with this issue,other than contacing an auto electrian.

    • @JoesCarSmartsNY
      @JoesCarSmartsNY  5 лет назад

      I’ve never seen an Elgrand but there should be a way to get to that motor.
      I would try a replacement window switch first, then take another look at the door to see if you can figure out how to get to the motor.

    • @48rimu
      @48rimu 5 лет назад

      thankyou you are right i had another look and the motor can come out theres 4 screws holding it in,i tryed some wd-40 silicone on the tracks etc today but didnt fix it,when the window has a mind of its own it works when it wants to and when it stops ill give the door a bang then it works again,ill have to go and see an auto electrician and see what they think,cheers for your time and video

      @@48rimu Things that work when you smack them usually mean its a connector corroded , broke, or a short somewhere. Could be a motor thats stalled, however thats less often.

    What would you do instead if you had to remove the glass?

    • @JoesCarSmartsNY
      @JoesCarSmartsNY  3 года назад

      At the bottom of the glass there is usually 2 or 3 bolts that need to be removed to release the glass from its lower mounting frame. Once those bolts are removed you will be able to carefully slide the glass up and out. You’ll have to maneuver it a specific way to get it out but that’s the process.

    Is there a way to make the window go up if the motor went out?

    • @JoesCarSmartsNY
      @JoesCarSmartsNY  3 года назад

      Not an easy way.
      You can try having a helper pull up on the glass while you press the “up” on the window switch. Maybe you can catch a couple teeth on the gears that way.
      Other than that you’ll have to disassemble the door, unbolt the motor and push the window up manually. It’s quite a process.
      I THINK my actual problem was a couple broken plastic teeth on the gears so you might try having a helper pull the glass up like I described.

      I just had my DF go out. In the AM in went down, then up 3-4 inches, then down. Did that twice before it went up and I drove to work. Drove home, opened the window and it went down and never came back up. I thought it might be the switch, however I can hear a relay when the switch contacts, so I think thats good. Got the door mostly apart, and its really hard to even get purchase to lift it up. If its all the way down, you may have to pull the interior trim panel, and then the plate bolted inside the door to get to the actual window as shown hear.

    Mine the auto up feature not work, up completely and then down a half, i need to up manually

    • @JoesCarSmartsNY
      @JoesCarSmartsNY  5 лет назад +1

      William Guzman You might be dealing with a bad window switch. Does the window seem to move smoothly? The auto up/down uses a technology called “Current Sensing” and when the windows gets stuck the system thinks that it’s all the way down or up already and will stop moving it. So I’d look for the window getting stuck first and greases the window rails in the door to help and then try a new window switch if the window already moves smoothly.

      @@JoesCarSmartsNY Well, the truth goes up smoothly. The problem is when it comes to the top again down to half when i use auto up. The drain of the sunroof broke and water went to some wires under the glove compartment and I suspect that was the reason for the problem, at the same door I have problems with the lock that was repaired with an 8-dollar actuator and works smoothly. But when I press the Open or Close buttons several times, then the vehicle does not respond and it is impossible to handle the locks

    • @JoesCarSmartsNY

      William Guzman It sounds like someone needs to spend some time checking out the connections and wires in that area. You may have some corrosion left over from that water leak. It’s not a fun time working in that are though. I’ve been in that area on mine and it’s challenging.

      @Joe: you're the man per the usual. It seems like right after something goes out of your 06, mine goes out 3-6 months later, to my 06... sorry, but thanks at the same time, lol. She just turned 140K!
      @William Guzman: the motor I received clearly states if your "auto-up" feature is not working correctly, to push the reset button on the motor. You will need to take the metal panel off again, but if the glass is all the way up you should be able to press this without complete disassembly. It's located directly on the motor, it's a black rubber button smaller than a US dime. Best of Luck!

      Not trying to hijack your thread Joe, but here's the fix for resetting the regulator if the window will not close all the way via the auto feature. This happens from testing at the factory and neglect to set it back after testing:
