    Another excellent test and thanks for taking the time to do it. As always looking forward to the next one. Woody.

      It was fun mate,but not the results I was expecting really. I was hoping to better the results of the last video in lighter winds. I'll come back to the slugs when I've learnt some more for sure.

    Always try to use AA 8.4 4.52 have been very good in my FX impact also daystate renegade hunting out to 50m always try to keep under 40m , but I do a lot of practice at 50m never tried slugs will stick to normal shape pellets found your video good 👍

      Them aa fields are spot on, shame it's only a small tin as I'd like to get a bunch more.
      I'm going to test the zan slugs soon, alot of people are suggesting they are worth a go with. Dunno we will find out...

    That AA group was wow at 45yrds. I have budget pellet rifles PR900 and have not had any slugs get even close to the pellet groups.

      Even worst for me I have never even tried any slugs! Haha

    great vid,Ive been looking at buying some slugs to see if there was any gain in stopping power over pellets.after watching your demo i think ill stick with airarms df`s.thanks for saving me time and money.only problem ive got now is its left me itching for an Anschutz!!!

      Some of the zans might be worth a try.similarly priced to decent pellets too. They deform massively on impact, there's some footage in one of the last slug shooting vids.quite surprising really 😉
      The 9015s are great, mines been pushed hard and it's been super reliable

    Be good to see 10.5g JSB vs. the Mako 10.5g to eliminate the impact of the weight on wind.

      I've got a few different batches of the jsb ko here now, im also waiting on the zan in the 10ish grain. Itl be good to do some tests against the comparable weight pellet with all of them.
      I was kinda hoping in this one, that they would have a similar drop. But this batch of makos is definitely different to the previously tested ones...

    The slugs would have arrived with considerably more energy at the 45 yard target than the pellets AND expanded better. Sub 12 slugs may not replace paper and metal targets today, but they have significant potential for pest control / hunting

      Absolutely! Once we work out how best to optimise the setups It'll be exciting going forward

    might try these in my AA Pro sport as the loading isnt too dissimilar to the Anschutz

    Very nicely done!
    As an aside, I noticed your comment about how they felt looser in the barrel and noticed something similar with the slugs I have tried, maybe the ones I tried were a bad batch or something, but accuracy was... meh.
    I'll stick with diabolo pellets for now since they seem to be more cost effective and accurate in my guns.

    • @tillysgunstocks
      @tillysgunstocks  Год назад +1

      I've got some fairly accurate measuring equipment on the way so I'll be able to accurately measure the barrel bores and potentially then size some slugs down. Just a bit of experimenting really. The jsb slugs are much the same price as normal heavies,but as yet I've not managed to get much out of them. When the slugs are a good fit they definitely have some downrange improvement over pellets but getting them to work(consistently) is proving tricky right now

      @@tillysgunstocks Understood, I tested mine with some high quality calipers (not as good as a micrometer, but good enough for what I was trying to determine) and compared them to standard pellets.
      The pellets read as 4.52mm, while every slug I tested in the batch I had read as 4.4mm which implies they were a bad batch...
      🤷‍♂
      I'll look into resizing them when I have the proper tooling, until then, I have no opinion on slugs... yet

    Informative review mate, I've started looking into slugs recently with regards to hunting rather than targets, a lot of surprises in store for me I feel 😁, Best Regards, Jon, Hawkes eye TV 👍

    • @tillysgunstocks
      @tillysgunstocks  Год назад

      Hi Jon, the slugs (assuming they are the perfect fit in the barrel) certainly offer some improvement in downrange performance,but the .177 is the hardest to make work properly given their smaller size and smaller rear bearing surface. If you have the time and inclination to make them work,they are great. But I'm absolutely certain that there's plenty of rifles that simply won't run them due to the way they load.

      Thanks for the quick reply, I'm looking at testing various slugs on multiple rifles, single & magazine load ability etc, .177 😁, love the Anschuts 👍 Best Regards, Jon, Hawkes eye TV 👍

    Perhaps you could chronograph the 2 batches of mako , see if the loose fit affected the performance.

    • @tillysgunstocks
      @tillysgunstocks  Год назад

      The second batch were all undersized compared the first really good batch. I did chrono a few and pretty erratic,as you'd expect really as they barely sealed in the rifling. The first lot though suited the barrel really well mind.

    Have you ever tried Jsb ultrashocks?
    I got a tin in my cart and I am still wondering if I do order it haha
    I wonder how bad the velocity dropped because of the slugs size / barrel fit

    • @tillysgunstocks
      @tillysgunstocks  Год назад +1

      I've not tried them myself,but looking at the shape of them I'd bet the barrel fit would be super critical,like it is with the slugs. Be Interesting to see how they run though

  • @kevinashford1219
    @kevinashford1219 Год назад

    How do they work out of magazines mate,, coz I’ve tried zan slugs outta my r10 and they group like a .410 at 15m lol

    • @tillysgunstocks
      @tillysgunstocks  Год назад

      Not many in the .177 will run through the magazines that smoothly. I've got another earlier vid up where I tried that myself..wasn't too great, the way the 9015 loads is much better but still the tolerances of the slugs in the barrel are super critical to get the best performance 😉
