Lyrics :
Come
And talk of all the things we did today
Here
And laugh about our funny little ways
While we have a few minutes to breathe
And I know that it's time you must leave
Oh but darling be home soon
I couldn't bear to wait an extra minute if you dawdled
My darling be home soon
It's not just these few hours but I've been waiting since I toddled
For the great relief of having you to talk to
And now
A quarter of my life is almost past
I think I've come to see myself at last
And I see that the time spent confused
Was the time that I spent without you
And I feel myself in bloom
Oh my darling be home soon
I couldn't bear to wait an extra minute if you dawdled
My darling be home soon
It's not just these few hours but I've been waiting since I toddled
For the great relief of having you to talk to
Instrumental Break :
Go
And beat your crazy head against the sky
Try
To see beyond the houses and your eyes
It's so great to shoot the moon
Oh my darling be home soon
I couldn't bear to wait an extra minute if you dawdled
My darling be home soon
It's not just these few hours but I've been waiting since you toddled
For the great relief of having you to talk to
For the great relief of having you to talk to
For the great relief of having you to talk to.
At 72, the chapters of my life may feel heavy with memories. The rhythm of my days is different now; the echo of tiny feet and youthful laughter has faded. I find myself gazing at old photographs, bittersweet smiles tracing my lips. Remember, while I miss my children as they were, they built their lives upon the love and lessons I tried to provide. Their independence is a testament to my half-assed success as a father. They may be distant in miles, but the bond I forged in those early years remains woven into the fabric of their being.
That is beautifully written.
Reading this i almost felt as though it was written about me , funny how our lives go.
@@gaz057 Thank you! I enjoyed your reply. I hope you are doing well.
Beautiful man beautiful.
@@mattchristopher3220 Thank you.
No Light show, no pyrotechnics, no smashing guitars, just raw, heart full music. No one did it better than Joe.
The best version ever of one of the most beautiful songs ever written.
Wonderful singer, vastly underrated, criminal that he is not laundered by the powers that be. Much luvs for him and his music!!! 🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉❤❤❤❤❤❤❤

Uncompromingly soulful. Thank you Joe
So god damn amazed to be alive to experience the music of my life with performances like this and souls like Joe Cocker. So lucky, so lucky.
I love this John Sabastian song.
I always loved this version, then saw the Lovin Spoonful version and was blown away.
Joe Cocker always put together great bands. That's Jim Keltner on drums, one of the renowned session men of the 70s and 80s
Jim Keltner just blows my mind! 💙💥🌟🔥
He does this so well with such feeling.
Love love love his version. RIP Mr. Cocker.
He sang from his soul. Wow.
Joe sang every song from his soul ! He was awesome !
Joe Cocker making it real ... what magic he brings to a song ... thank you Joe. My husband just shared this song with me, sitting in his soul since he too was a youngin' now at 62 listening it can brought his soul to tearful joy ... thank you John Sebastian for the words and Joe Cocker for making it real then and now. And my love for making it real in our life.

i loved his voice and his passion..why do good guys die too young...?...and evil lives forever?...
Joe owns this tune.
Love Joe Cocker. Well done!
Joe covers a song that has a whole LOT OF FEELING to begin with , and he puts more feeling into it.
If it were possible to sum up Joe Cocker in one sentence, that would be it from me.
LOVE the pedal steel as well... Tears and Goosebumps at the same time!!
Best version ever
Wow! Jim Keltner!! 💥 Dean Parks! Love this! Thank you! 💋
I love this song he sings it the best now l cry a little ❤
this is great seeing some of the guys who played together in Mad Dogs and Englishmen playing together again. there is a magical feel to this concert, as if the energy had been kept and aged for so many years maturing, mellowing, yet at the same time becoming more robust and with a greater depth of sophistication. well, anyway they play great music and Mr. Cocker displays his immense vocal talent of singing from his heart and delivering it to the audience as a uniquely personal gift. Thanks Joe.
Yes! Some of the young'uns here, have no idea who these fabulous musicans are.
sweet one...one of my fav's!
Cool dude,no complaints whatsoever, but Noddy still gets my vote.
Pure magic !!!!!!!
god damn this song is everything to me and i wish i had someone to confess its magics to
Bravissimo e bellissimo ...grande Joe!!!!!

Best song of his
John Sebastian compõe e Joe Cocker interpreta! É assim que deve ser . Joe Cocker é sensacional, é o melhor intérprete! isso aconteceu com todos os autores que ele interpretou!
u still rock joe!!
Makes you want to be in Love!
his voice still b the best ever...
Joe Cocker's, voice still vibrates the planet in wondrous sounds, those sound's will always be so special, but sometimes, just sometimes, one spoonful is better than Mc none.
great the way he sings it...........
Es tan hermosa esta canción, no puedo dejar de emocionarme cada vez que la escucho y la interpretación es un placer. Grande Joe.
Bellísima versión, creo que la mejor de todas y a pesar del esfuerzo que hizo
Still love Joe cocker! ♥️♥️♥️
Yet another shamefully shocking omission by the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.
Magnificence.
Poco importa il periodo delle esibizioni , quel che conta , per quelli come me, aver vissuto in quel periodo , sono vivo e JOE fa parte di me , di noi . Ciao a Tutti :)
Joe e' e sara' sempre con noi.
Good job Joe.
Awesome!
Dobro, love it!
nice one
Joe Cocker sempre interpreta melhor que os autores.John Sebastian deve ter ficado feliz!A interpretação do Joe Cocker ,fez juz a linda canção criada por ele!
Classic
Noddy and Slade did it far better . Mr Cocker does a great job here it's just that Slade took the song to another realm.
Noddy, he had the voice.
Tedeschi Trucks carries on the legacy in their own brilliant way
The best kind of sex. You know everything about each other, and have nothing left to lose.
wow
Tangled up ⬆️ n You
Has anyone heard the original by the Lovin`Spoonful. Joe`s verion is Ok but the Spoonful is still the best
John Sebastian's is transcendent. At Tanglewood. At Woodstock.
Slade did it best
What ist "the best"? In your taste? Come on, this is Joe Cocker and he is great!
Doesn't really matter who is the best because that is down to opinion and like the other comment I also prefer Slade's version, but I would like to thank John Sebastian for writing such a terrific song.
Tadeschi trucks band by far
not an extra second
Super
Having you to talk to.
tedeshi trucks is my favorite version
Beatles Spoonful
Ma version préférée reste celle de Slade...
You loved yout wife. I settled. If it's her, go in peace. 💟
Cocker erres un genioDEP
I prefer Slade's version. I commented it was 'Joe Cocker like' without knowing he sang it.
Noddy toddles betterl
Von Slade ist "Darling be home soon" am besten.
I'm way ok with RUclips's AI tracking my comments. Nobody does the John Sebastian song as righteously! Ty, YT!
a 30 second ad, I dont think so
Slade.
This is a good rendition but I think noddy holders better on this song anyway
Chris Staiton on keyboards.
yup Great
Purely personal taste of course, but I prefer Slade's cover of this. Especially the one on Slade Alive.
Whose Slade? Would like to hear it.
What is in this video that would cause ANYONE to click on the thumbs down?
Dobre
Joe you may well think that he owns it but Bobby Darin.......who took it and 'blessed it' from John Sebastian sold it to Joe.....
THE ENGLISH BULLDOG !
9.5 STD
I really don't see why everyone thinks this guy is great.....he just does covers
Love John Sebastion's version... it is his song... but Joe's ain't bad.
Ed Fulginiti but can John Sedastion sing 'high time we went' ?
He should try: 3/4 of my life have all but passed... More realistic and poignant here. No longer a teenager!
Slade does it a lil better.
No she doesn’t….
Lovin Spoonful, my friend. John Sebastian wrote this song, and he also performed it solo at Woodstock
Slade does it better live
a fair but totally and decidedly inferior cover;
+vettevet2002 it's how well Joe owns the feelings behind the words….it's not that simple to understand that, is it?
OH MY SO TRUE!
vettevet2002 "well, that's just like..... your opinion....man."
-The Dude
Another great version of this song is by Slade, Noddy's voice has been very underrated in my (no one cares) view.
