I watched your videos about the graffiti yellow sonic stratocaster because I was getting one for Christmas. My beautiful wife got it for $149.00 dollars and after playing for a full day I'm totally blown away how beautiful and excellent it plays. The set up out of the box is perfect as well as the intonation. I own several guitars and I can see this one becoming a new favorite. I own the Red Special and I love what you did with your stratocaster. Thank you for making such a great video.
Wow! What a cool little axe! Love that guitar, & what you did with it. I've always loved Squier Bullets and Affinities. Strats and Teles. And I haven't tried the new Sonics yet, but hearing good things. These guitars have always been great mod platforms. Good - as is. But even better to tinker with, hot-rod, and make your own. And you did a heck of a job with this one. Great playing too!
Guitar looks awesome great idea..i love kwik plug pup system ..Now..... if there just was a 'Kwik Plug Knee' ( with neuron harness!! ) !--glad your back at it !
Preach brother! This is my second replacement. I have to say this one has been much better than the first one which was done about 10 years ago. 10 years from now… Kwik Plug for sure.
I like it. It's very reminiscent of the West Creek yellow racer I got recently it's an SG copy, offset horns. That looks like an interesting upgrade of components I might do to one of my strats
@@TheTapeFarm never too late! Mounting holes are different. But you can utilize the center hole left over from the squier bridge. Filled the old holes and drilled the two outer holes from the fender bridge.
Bilateral replacement? Fun, huh? Great job on the Strat. I have GFS pickups on 3 guitars and one Squire JB, and I think they match almost any but the really exotics, like Fishman, Lace, or the SD P-Rails, but I suspect that GFS won't be too far behind.
@@TheTapeFarm Truth be told, I've never played through an active pickup (other than acoustic bridge-saddle). And I got my first guitar in 1966 (a spankin' new '66 Gretsch Corvette ). WISH I still had that one!)
I've been looking for a video that shows one of these under the pickguard, very happy I found this. Does anyone know if the body routing is consistent across all Squier Sonics? I'm looking for a cheap ST frame to play around with, and want to keep my options open regarding pickups.. considering doing HSH, but I don't have any carpentry skills or tools really.
Hi, I have a stupid question 🙂. How do you know which size saddle blocks to get to replace the originals ? Do they have gaps between them, or do they butt closely together ? How about the overall width across the saddle ?
@@rodsimmons9337 you can measure the distance between the center of the saddles to be sure. But the string spacing on Strats style guitars is pretty standard. Here’s a link to the ones I’ve used on a couple of guitars. a.co/d/8PnhV12

iPhone now has a new feature built into your settings called Live Captions. Works with any video such as RUclips and phone calls. I am deaf and it works fantastic. Love that Banana Cream Pie Special 🤓🤘

Thanks Chris. Not exactly a Red Special but very serviceable for sure. Thanks for watching!

Still waiting for my yellow strat to arrive in UK !
Such a sick build!!

I really like some of those Westcreeks. I need to check one out.
I bought a fender fixed bridge and converted mine to a string thru body design and added the steel saddles.
@@gajapi I toyed with the idea of doing a string through. I should’ve done it.

With the "Savannah Bananas" shirt on lmao Great move Sir
Completely unintentional. I wish I were that clever.

Yup. Big fan of most of the GFS stuff. Not a fan of the Active pickups.

Thanks. I think I was using Overloud TH-U plug-in for the guitar.
Thank You @@TheTapeFarm
The Lemon Meringue Special !
I'd add a cool sticker from Mister Horsepower !
Rock on....
Nailed it.
I ran into the same problems with the bridge/pickguard. What brand hand dremel is that?
Craftsman. Just got it a month ago. Very balanced.
Looks like a Tascam 38 in the background?
@@satanbane there is a Tascam TSR-8, 34B, MS-16, 238, 134, and 388 as well as a Fostex 80, 20, and E-16…. It is The Tape Farm after all 😜
@@TheTapeFarm Right, I saw in a later frame that it wasn't a 38. Lots of fun! And what about tape delay machines, like the Roland Space Echo?
@ unfortunately no. Hard to make any money with those. But I do pretty well transferring tapes for people.
@@TheTapeFarm Right on. I don't suppose you do VHS-to-digital transfers?

Which saddles did you put on it, specifically, and where did you get them? I would like to upgrade mine.

@TheTapeFarm I get it now. Explanation on the page you linked to. Thanks 😊 👍
It's odd that the background music has no guitars in it when this is all about guitars.
Fair… hadn’t really thought about that. Thanks.

Bumblebee? (transformers yellow black)
Decals on guitars... no thanks.
I get that… I generally stick to that rule as well… but I thought I’d give this a go.
The stripes seem a bit cluttered on the pickguard part but overall and in spite of that I'd say it looks pretty good.
