French Raisin Pie Ingredients
Cream together:
1/2 CUP BUTTER OR MARGARINE
1/2 CUP SUGAR
Add:
1 CUP SUGAR
3 WHOLE EGGS
1 CUP CHOPPED PECANS
1 CUP RAISINS
1 TABLESPOON APPLE CIDER VINEGAR
1/2 TEASPOON CINNAMON
1/2 TEASPOON (SCANT) CLOVES
Instructions
1. Pour in one deep 9-inch unbaked pie shell
2. Bake 35 minutes in a pre-heated 350-degree oven
3. The center will appear soft but it will become firm in cooling. Note: This filling makes enough to fill 16 individual frozen pastry shells. Allow to thaw to room temperature before filling. Thank You 🎅🏻🤶🏻🎄
Was amused by the measuring spoons! Just love it! To me a scant is 1/8 tsp. My guess.
You're pie looks quite similar to "individual bite sized chess pies" my mother-in-law used to make..They were delicious...
Never seen a recipe like this one. Might experiment with this. Thank you so much for demonstrating how to make it.
I would have substituted the white sugar for brown sugar and I would have added vanilla.
Anyone like mincemeat pie.. Yummy 😊
Saving this one, too! Never had a raisin pie but I sure like raisins and that looks delish!! I just love "binge watching" some of your older videos and I have enjoyed doing that this Sunday afternoon 😊. These holiday videos y'all did with the music and wintry graphics are adorable! Just love your channel and your recipes and watching you cook. ❤😊❤
Hi Tammy & Chris! Thanks for the great job on making this pie. The pie looks like it came out perfectly. If I can keep my crew out of it, the pie tastes even better the next day. Thank you for your kind words. Your Vol. 4 cookbook arrived today, so am looking forward to trying more of your wonderful recipes!
I thought it was even better the next day too!
I just recently had some sour cream raisin pie at the Kansas State Fair 2023. They put a topping like a banana cream pie. The pie needs no topping. 🥰 Most yummy. 😎 Thanks.
Another pie for me to make yummy. I am sure it will be so very delicious.. Thank you. 🙏
Much like your Japanese Fruit pie!
Thanks for tip on pouring mixture over the fruit and nuts.
That pie is done perfectly! It looks like (and in fact, is) a giant butter tart, which is a famous Canadian specialty.
Loved those butter tarts from Canada.Would always buy them when my son and I would make a trip up there to buy other foods we can’t get here in the states. My son likes the true Canadian back bacon.
@@elizabethjaneda2456 if you get the chance, you have to try The Sweet Oven ...they make the BEST buttertarts ever! They have a location in Toronto but originally they're in Barrie, Ontario
Same recipe but with added coconut….Japanese fruit pie. Love it!!!
I have a very similar recipe but I add pecans for a raisin pecan pie.
I had a patient who used to rave about the raisin pie at a local restaurant. I didn’t know such a thing existed! Thanks to pat, I can know use a well known and good recipe!! ❤❤❤
That looks so good!
Scant means "a little less than." You can have a scant teaspoon, a level teaspoon, or a heaping teaspoon.
😊
I never knew this! Thank you!
Definitely going to try this pie!
Jesus is coming....SOON!
This is very similar to a pie my grandmother made. The recipe is lost, but I remember it used vinegar. The top of the pie looks the same. I'll have to try it. Thanks!
Try looking up a vinegar pie with raisins recipe. I’ve made it, it’s delish!
Man I love you guys but,!no!
Dad's favorite ❤
How bout some cool whip on top!
Looks delicious ❤❤❤❤❤
What temp?
The pie 🥧 look delicious 😋
Easy recipes. Yummy
Love Joanne Resh ❤️
*I do not see this recipe listed on your website*
It is called Raisin Pie under the pie category
@@CollardValleyCooks TY!♥
Hi Tammy,
I think I would use Dates instead of Rasins... Would probably make it even more like pecan pie, but I love dates.
Looks delicious . Love all your little tips and tricks. Thanks guys!!!🧡🧡🧡
My mom used to make regular raisin pie. It is one of my favorites. You don't see it anymore. I love it. I don't have a recipe for it
Looks so easy and delicious! I think it'd be a wonderful Holiday pie! I'm going to add it to my must try list!
I thought the same thing!👍
So easy to make; that point I love. I'm the only one in the house hold that likes raisins. That will not stop me from making it. LOL. I'll just have to find some one to share it with 😉
I was thinking a Chess Pie with pecans and raisins. Chess pies have vinegar. Looks amazing Tammy. Yummy!
It looks like it's meant for a cleansing after the rich foods eaten over the holidays.
That looks delicious. I like raisins although I do prefer the golden ones . This looks easy enough that I would like to make next week for Thanksgiving. Thank you fellow viewer for the recipe, thank you Tammy and Chris. Happy Holidays to All!
That pie looks so tasty! I may be adding it my holiday line up!
Yummy recipe have a Happy Thanksgiving to you and your family
Looks delicious - reminds me of my butter tart recipe minus the vanilla. Thanks
You comment towards the end that their is not much flour in it. I didn't see ANY flour go in it.
Me either, or the eggs
There is not
@@CollardValleyCooks ... there is not eggs or flour in the recipe?

Tammy and Chris, that pie looks amazing! Thanks to Pat for sharing the recipe!🥧
A scant teaspoon is a little less than a tsp, like a heaping is a little more than. I think she meant a scant 1/2 tsp since the cinnamon was 1/2. This looks amazing.
I can’t eat nuts, so I would add chopped apples I stead and a smidgen of nutmeg.
Apple pie spice instead of the nasty nutmeg, okay?
My Mom has been making the Japanese fruit pie ever since I was in elementary school. A true holiday tradition...it's very similar to this recipe. Thanks for sharing...🤗
Sharing everyone's favorite family recipes is such a wonderful way of spreading holiday gifts with all your special ❤️ friends
✍ Hi Tammy and Chris...I like that idea of putting the nuts(pecans) and raisins in the bottom of the pie shell first instead of putting them into the batter cause watching the time lapse you could see them rise. So I'll remember to do that great idea. Looks delicious... Yum God Bless LuvYa! Bye from Ohio Happy Thanksgiving to You ,Your Family and viewers🦃
What is the oven temperature? Can you add apples?
I am on the road and will put recipe on the website by 10pm
@@CollardValleyCooks Thanks 😊
Hi everybody,
I came very late to the party so I am going to watch the video again. The pie looked divine when it came out of the oven and as it happened I was eating raisins out of a box when I found out what you were going to bake. So I had to have a little laugh. I bet the pie will be wonderful. Have a very happy Thanksgiving everyone and Take Care Jane.🧑🏻🦰👍😎
Hi Tammy and Chris, raisin pie was my father in laws favorite pie and I made him one at least once a month. He's been with the Lord for many years and your video today brought back happy memories and I thank you for that. 🙂❤️
One of my favorites too- also like mince pie- not a traditional Apple pie person. Another one you don't see much any more- grape pie made with Concord Grapes. Maybe these are too labor intensive or something?
@@hairballjones8451 Some call it Scuppernog pie 😊
My very favorite pie is Sour Cream Raisin! This pie looks similar.
Tammy would you like to try my special lasagna...actually it's Cuzin Sharon Wing's Lasagna....everyone raves about it!...

My grandmother made a pie just like that; she called it an All Good Pie. It's basically a chess pie with raisins and pecans. It was my dad's favorite pie, and she made it for him all the time (it was my mother's mother, though). You are supposed to plump the raisins first before adding them. I made it once for him when he was still alive. I love that you are doing other people's recipes. I just love watching the two of you; it's like watching my family in the kitchen - oops, I'm gettin' weepy now. Thanksgiving was always a big deal at my grandmother's house. Now, they're all gone, including my parents and I'm all alone every year. So y'all really mean a lot to me. I'm thankful for y'all!!! Happy Thanksgiving to you both!!!💖💖💖
Tammy, do you get your wigs from QVC?
I don't wear them anymore but I used to get at a local beauty supply
Miss Tammy, I make my banana pudding homemade as you do. This year I'm following you-microwaving pudding. I too put meringue on top. Everyone always ask me to make and or bring homemade banana pudding. My reputation is on the line! I don't think your way will disappoint!!!! I'll let you know after Thanksgiving.
That pie looks wonderful. Really like your idea of mixing the raisins. Happy Thanksgiving Tammy, Chris, May, Angel and Amy!
Looks real good something different
I bet it would also be great with dried cranberries!
Hello Tammy and Chris and family. This pie looks so delicious and different from other raisin pies Thank You for sharing the recipe. Have a good day. God Bless you Tammy and Chris Nichols and family from a viewer in Toronto Ontario Canada
Thanks for sharing❤️
I just have to tune into your subscription, hear your voice or Chris's and I get happy 😊 and feel good deep down. I just love you guys and enjoy your feel good presence. You also make the lead up to Christmas exciting 😀. I love that you reinforce the real meaning of this season. Thanks again and God bless. DAZZ , sydney
Wonderful!
Yum yuum😊
I love pies with raisins. I usually make one pumpkin pie at Thanksgiving that has raisins in it. I love it that way.
I like raisins in my dressing. No one else in my family does. Also in an apple pie! Ever tried apples in your dressing, I like that too.
Hi Tammy, what temperature did you use to bake this? TY.

Wonderful! Thanks, Tammy.
Do the Rains make it taste Rich???🧐
They make it taste good 👍
This is the first time I’ve heard of a French Raisin Pie.
That would be really easy to make.
I'm not a big raisin fan, but if Pat C says this is good and y'all say it's good I'll give it a try! I wonder if my step mom will know about this pie since she's from Kentucky......I will surprise her this year 😊 She's hard to surprise lol.... bet I'll get her with this. Also, I've always wondered how y'all got the name "Collard Valley Cooks"?
Hi Tammy & Chris. I love raisins & pecans. So I think this would be tasty!!😋💕
What a scrumptious-looking pie! I've had a very similar raisin-cream pie at a local diner, and it is very good, especially the topping. This was a great addition to my birthday.
Other than crushing the nuts finer (my hubby's dental work thanks me - lol), I wouldn't change a thing in this delicious-looking pie. 😍
Yummy 🤤😋
Looking good ❤️❤️ Thanks for sharing
OMG I have those little measuring spoons you showed. Got mine from a Amish store in Michigan
Dear tammy, i think she may have left out the amount on the "scant" item. "Scant" is usually the opposite of a "rounded" tsp or cup etc. Maybe its different where shes from.
I’ve made Japanese Fruit pie. Love it. This recipe does remind me of that pie….minus the cloves
Why does your pie look like Kentucky? I love it. Haha (I’m in KY) 😂
My Daddy loved raisin pie. We lived in Ohio and raisin pie was common in southern Ohio.
Colleen I think my Mama made hers with one- half dark raisins and one- half golden & plumped them first. Also a Buckeye- born and bred.
@@hairballjones8451 Yeah a fellow Buckeye!!!! Yes we do like our raisin pie!!! Take care and eat lots of pie.
@@colleen1770 Love raisin pie and I’m also born and raised in Ohio. I had a customer in my beauty salon tell me older people would call that pie a funeral pie because it was always one that was taken to a funeral dinner.😁
Looks easy to make. Thanks for sharing 👍
That looks really good I am going to have to try it!
That looks really good! I'm going to try it.

Hey Tammy I have a recipe I’m going to share with you.Where do I send it??

That looks so good! Since my husband can’t eat nuts, what about using coconut instead of the nuts? Thanks 🙂
I would think so
Looking delicious my friend makes the mini raisin tarts for years, I tried hers couple years ago and they’re really good 👍 thanks 🙏
I have never tried this but it looks delicious Tammy.💕

That is one pretty piece of pie! It reminds me of my mother's minced meat pie. She always made it for Thanksgiving along with her pumpkin pie. Thanks for the memory.
