I've been waiting for this review! Finally ordered my sling after watching this review and I'm super happy with it! Even though us lefties are often forgotten, the dual zip action on the main compartment really makes up for that. And I also noticed the issue with the small openings on either side of the main compartment. What I've been doing is reaching under the buckle and pulling the zip all the way down and tucking it into the hole a bit to make it less noticeable. Thanks again for the review guys!
I doubt the side compartments are meant for water bottles. Just additional nettings for organization purposes. Lenses, earphones etc. The water bottle should lay flat in the main compartment.
Yeah, you can use them like that, sure, but it seems unfair to mark it as a con when that doesn't seem like it was its intended purpose. That being said, in some of the bellroy promo material, it does look like they might be using it as one, so it's hard to say.
Water bottle standing up in the pocket looks so out of place can’t see myself using that pocket for that. I can’t imagine Bellroy designing that pocket for a water bottle 🤮
I like to use this as my dabbing and smoking bag, it’s been my bag for more than 3 years and still to this day has held up like new other than stains that my puffco has left or some extracts I’ve had in it, such a perfect bag to carry with some tree and your puffco and a piece and everything you need. 10/10
I own this in bronze. Amazing product. Super comfortable to wear, even as a shoulder bag, which is great for females. I love the organization, colours and material.
I just bought it and I do watched a lot review and decide what size I wanted, 9L suit my need, as a female, I think larger the better, put scarf, water bottle, windproof hoodie....... Now I seldom use female handbag, female handbag way more heavy, tiring......
X2 ! I also stopped using handbags altogether. Too heavy and cumbersome, not easy to carry. I'm also eyeing the 9L. Even if I don't carry too much daily, the extra space may be handy if I buy stuff when traveling for example. The 6L would be too limiting for my intended use.
I would have thought they’d have a flap to cover the top and front side of the bag to stop water pooling in the front zip pocket as it has a natural area for water to pool.
extremely thorough review. esp the part about the small open gaps on the side at the ends of the main zipper. to me thats a huge deal breaker if a bag is unable to zip completely closed. everything else is great quality. must've been a intentional trade-off for the self-compression feature.
I picked up the 9L bronze version for travelling. The 6L was way too small for small camera and mini ipad etc, but would be okay for just your phone and wallet.
11 iPad Pro will fit. I can even fit it with the Apple magic keyboard but it needs to be fit at a certain angle which will affect or reduce your overall capacity that you can carry.
I've been using that exact same model for about ten days, and it's been glorious! My only minor complaint is that the loops on the sides get in the way whenever I want to zip/unzip it. But I'm nitpicking. It holds all of my EDC needs and has room to spare, which is important since I always purchase various items on the road. At first, I was unsure if it would look too big on me since I'm a woman who is only 5 feet tall, but honestly, it looks and feels great! I carry it mostly on my side, with a short strap, messenger style. Sometimes I slide it on my back to give a little rest to my shoulder. Only have one comment on the color: in person, it looks darker than in any of the photos or videos I've watched on the internet. At first, I was a bit disappointed because I was expecting a lighter shade of green, but it's grown on me, and it goes great with almost everything I wear.
Hi there! It will depend on which specific model you choose but we were able to fit an 18-ounce Yeti Rambler. You can check out our written review for more info! - Austin packhacker.com/travel-gear/bellroy/venture-sling-9l/
I have the 21oz lightweight trail series standard mouth Hydro flask and it fits in my Venture Sling's main compartment comfortably (laying flat, obviously).

I just got this bag and I don’t know if the adjustment the sizes or what but it’s way smaller in real life than from I’ve seen in yours and other videos…I do not understand!!! 😣
I’m sure 😂 I have gotten all sizes of the Bellroy Ventures, for some reason they (all the reviewers) can fit more stuff than I can…Im using the Chinera now…it’s supposed to be 6L but the back zipper makes some difference. Wish the Ventures had that zipper 🤷🏻♀️
It’s almost $200 which I think is overly priced you can buy a back pack for that. It’s just a sling bellroy stop going crazy with your prices. The sides opening will definitely be a deal breaker for me especially at the price. They have to close securely that’s just unacceptable to me. Almost like you are buying something that isn’t complete
what water bottle would you recommend to fit vertically in this! Looking to carry something along with my Sony A7ii with one lens and a spill-proof quality bottle to fit vertically would be great.
The Venture Sling fixes a lot of my issues with their other slings, but I wish this came in a smaller form factor. Hoping for a Venture Sling Mini in the future from @bellroy
On the bellroy site, there are on sell even other kind of small bag. One of them is the same bag(called sling). It is the 7 liter version o the one in the video
The whole new design of this sling bag and all features are very nice. The only thing that stops me from buying it is the detachable buckles on the strap. If you hang it on your back, it is way too easy for a thief to unbuckle it from your back and rob it. By the time you notice it, the bag is gone. I hate any detachable buckles even the old magnetic buckles on the strap and the new two-way zipper design. It would be ideal if Bellroy has a version with fixed buckles on the strap and traditional two-zippers ending on either end design.
Those sunglasses are from ROAV! They have many models, but the Franklin is one of our favorites. more information: packhacker.com/travel-gear/roav/franklin-sunglasses/ -Eric
Really interested in this bag. Currently been using Aer for 2+ years and it was such a perfect sized sling for me. Though I need more space now for my kid's diapers,a pair of clothes, water bottle, and some snacks outside of my own personal belongings.

Any comment on how the compression works when the bag is not packed full? Will just wearing it compress it enough through gravity or can you compress it a but further by hand?
Hey there! We have more info about how the compression system works on our written review. You can check it out here: packhacker.com/travel-gear/bellroy/venture-sling-9l/ - Austin
I think if I owned one of those bags, the only time I’d use the buckle release would be if I sat down in a place that was tight for space, say while sitting in a train or bus next to other folk, it would ease the removal of the bag without the need to lift it over my head, but other than that, I can’t see any other time I’d use it.
I don't think those pockets were designed for carrying water bottles. You could do it as explained in the video but I don't think that's their main purpose. I put my water bottle inside the sling lying horizontally in the main compartment
Hate elastic mesh pockets. They lose their elasticity over time and don't hold tension. Nothing left to do with the pocket once that elasticity is gone...

You should make a Bellroy Sling vs Bellroy Venture Sling video

@amwalmsley7742 yes, it looks stupid & awkward like that with the zip jammed right up beside it. I just lay it flat.
Just went through a heavy storm downpour of rain here in Ireland while wearing this sling. No water got inside despite the weird open ends on it.
Thanks for sharing, Paul 😃

Big improvements over original. Tons more organization. Great for EDC.

Missing a simple open pocket on the back to slide stuff into.
Got one in Bronze. I'm super happy with it, still breaking it in and getting used to all the nifty features.
🤙🤙🤙
I own this in bronze. Amazing product. Super comfortable to wear, even as a shoulder bag, which is great for females. I love the organization, colours and material.

Agreed on the deal breaker. Any bag that’s basically sideways on your back requires trust.
Yeh it must be for the compression kind of a flaw in my opinion
Looks exactly what I need to fill the gap between my Aer City Sling and a backpack.
I picked up the 9L bronze version for travelling. The 6L was way too small for small camera and mini ipad etc, but would be okay for just your phone and wallet.
Thanks for sharing your insights! 🤙
Always on the ball! Been waiting for this one. Thanks for the review. I appreciate what you guys are doing. ♡
Thanks for the support!
Been out of stock for a while now, quite frustating. I want this bag for my trip in January so I hope they restock very soon.
Hope it comes back in stock for you - good luck Ozzy!

It’s stocked rn
Still stocked! Just ordered the bronze for myself can't wait!
Think a Thule Subterra Powershuttle would mega bulge the sling too much for other things? Like maybe with a speaker or waterbottle?
Will an 11” iPad Pro fit in it? The dimensions on the site are really close.
I have the newest iPad Air, and it fits with a bit of extra room left.
@@tessietickles666 Thanks!
Both iPad Pro 10.5 and Kindle Oasis fit in comfortably per my own experience.

How long is the strap fully extended? That's info that is always lacking from reviews and it is important to some... ;-)
Yes, I agree too
Is there a stabilizer strap for the sling to avoid sliding around when biking?

Would it fit the new iPad mini well?
Or perhaps a switch?
It fits tablets up to 11 inches, so it'll definitely fit a switch.
It can fit either one. I carry my Switch with me to work in this bag every day.
Is it water repellent? Thank you for your response.

Does it compress on its own when emptier, or do you have to adjust the straps on the sides to make it lie more flat?
It self-compresses due to the side gussets, which is an elegant design, we think 😊

Yupp-that’s a good shout 😃 It’s a lot easier to remove the bag when you’re in a crowded place using the fastener.

That water bottle set up is very odd. I would not carry a sling like this for fear of the zipper would come open.
