So what colour did I go for?, Barry Wood commented on the Part One video to check out Neville Duke's Hunter ... so I did and the rest is history, cheers 🙂
WOW!! She is a beauty! Looking forward to Maiden Flight Video!
Very soon Guy, cheers 👍
Thanks for showing things don't always go as well as hoped and you show alternative ways of making it right
Hi Larry, it's certainly worth explaining to people what's going on because it saves them making the same mistake, cheers 👍
Correct colour. Looks good to me. Nice to see your using the tool I sent you.
Yes, thanks Nick, tools are everything 👍🙂
That looks bloody marvellous Cliff the red hunter was a beuty should remind people of how great this country really is nice one sir crack on
Cheers Barry, looking forward to the maiden 👍
looking very nice and scale cliff ,
Thanks Tony 👍
Cliff she is beautiful! No problem seeing that one!
Thanks Adam, I'm pretty chuffed actually, cheers 🙂👍
That's a beautiful aircraft Cliff, nicely done. 👌
Many thanks Gary, the chaps at Hawker certainly had an eye for beauty 🙂👍
Fab progress, Cliff. I was pleased to see you went for the exact same paint type for your Hunter as I did for the Mossie. The Hunter looks like it's doing 100mph just rested on the stand!
Thanks Gina, the beauty of those match pots is that they can mix any shade and any color (and it's cheap!). Of course it needs a protective coat and I like to use either spray lacquer, matte or gloss, or Ronson's clear varnish 👍
Cliff the Hawker Hunter looks great. Best looking fupaws ever. Jeff in LA USA
Cheers Jeff, it should look good in the air 🙂👍
wow! what a wonderful model, i love the hunter. nice job cliff!
Glad you like it Jes, she's a classic amongst the genre 🙂👍
Very nice Cliff, That looks spectacular 😍
Thanks Eric, if it flies as good as it looks I shall be very happy 🙂👍
Really nice build, Clff! I wish you good luck on the maiden! Cheers!
Fingers crossed Dave, as long as I have a good launch I can relax 🙂👍
Great job Cliff! Saved the day on the finishing. Looks super and scale-like. Looking forward to the next episode. Can't wait to see it fly 😊. My Jetworks Hawk flew ok...but a not as good looking as your Hunter.
Thanks Jim, more to come of course, just the gear install which I'm filming now, cheers 🙂👍
I have the Tony Nijhus TSR2 to build; it's on my list waiting for time on the board! I do like the look of this model and I think you've done an excellent job. Looking forward to the maiden.
Hi Keith, nice aeroplane, sometimes models get 'bumped up' the list, thank you, cheers
Fun build cliff. I sure enjoy your videos.
Thanks JP 👍
You've done a wonderful job on it Cliff, Colour has come out ok in the end.
Thanks Darren, I'm happy now 🙂
I think that it looks really good
Thanks Paul 👍
Blue skies and tailwinds
Hi Stewart, much appreciated, same to you, cheers 🙂👍
Very nice Cliff, I like the Red scheme!! The Hunter looks like it's going to be a fast EDF, actually it looks fast when it's standing still, great job 😀👍
Thanks Ian, does that mean I don't have to actually fly it 😁👍
😂🤣
looks amazing well done
Thank you! Cheers!
Very nice work! I also liked your bind lead tip. Bob
Hi Robert, thanks, what tip was that? 🤔👍
Hi, I get immersed into your videos to learn. I think I saw you add a lead from the receiver bind input to make it easier to access. May I have seen it somewhere else. I give you the credit, though friend.
@robertgribbin6444 It's a good idea especially if the rx is difficult to reach 👍
Excellent job!
Thank you Bob Cheers!
She’s looking pretty epic Cliff. Love the tip about the placement of the hinges. 🫡
It is an experiment Chris on a model of this size but time will tell, cheers 👍
Really looking fantastic. A pity about the booboos, but very good resolution. Those intakes really look great!
Now that you are in with the jets you might do things like the Victor, Valient, EE Lightning, Harrier ... ...
Really great to see the progress of such a detailed model coming together.
Thanks Andrew, these earlier jets just have so much character, who knows what's going to roll off the production line next 🤔👍
Before apllying glue I always spray water over the tissue and let it expand. Then I start gently pulling the edges raising the tissue if needed, the water acts as a lubricant and in the end I apply a water based mate varnish, like Minwax when still wet and expanded. You can also use dope, the water won't get in the way, it'll stick (unless soaked wet). I use also minwax with talcuum powder to seal the grain before the tissue. You can also use sanding sealer like you had or dope with talcuum powder but I'd stick with only one system, dope on dope or waterbased on waterbased.
Thanks Zef, great advice 👍🙂
Hey, i didn´t know those hinges made of fishing lines! great tip!
I took a bit of a chance on a big fast model but they held really well, just make sure to roughen them up before fitting 🙂👍
Love it Cliff 👌🏻
Thanks Tim, the last part (4) isn't very long, it'll be uploaded this week, cheers 👍🙂
Absolutely beautiful Cliff!
Frustrating about the tissue, but you saved it for sure! Excellent as always 👍
Thanks Mike, you live and learn, cheers
I watched your tissue technique with interest and it's good that you share when it goes t*ts up shaves us the pain.
Ill be going Doculam then tissue water shrunk then thinned down dope rather than varnish.
@@MarkCroucherRC4fun Hi Mark, the technique failed on solid wood this time but you live and learn what works, I always think of varnish as a thick sticky sort of liquid but the Ronseal is water-based and really runny, it doesn't shink of course, cheers.
Super handsome airplane, I can't tell if there was any trouble with finishing.
Thanks Stephen, I managed to pull it back somewhat, cheers 👍
Looks great ! I've built the 50mm version but not flown it yet. It is quite heavy as a bare airframe, I'm thinking of going with a much lighter 40mm fan by Xfly, 1100 lipo and smaller esc.
Hi Catherine, it's an idea but will a smaller (lighter) battery mean you'll have to add weight in the nose to maintain the cg? Thus getting you nowhere! If the auw is more than the original it just means you'll have to throw it harder and it'll fly faster (better in the wind as well). Whatever you decide good luck and have fun 👍🤔
You certainly worked hard on the finishing Cliff. And some helpful tips too. BTW. Have you tried EzyCote to seal, which is a water based alternative to epoxy. I used it without glass cloth on my ASK deck as I had used thin balso sheet and not ply as speced on the plan.
Thanks Rob, no, you mean as an alternative to water-based varnish? 🤔👍
@@CliffHarveyRCPlanes As you may know, our glider builders often glass cloth their models using thin epoxy. I Tried Eze Cote without the glass cloth to seal and stiffen balsa sheet and was pleased with the result. This is what Deluxe say: Eze-Kote is a 1-part water based foam-safe, low odour, resin alternative to epoxy. Brush onto balsa and light glass cloth to create a tough, ding and fuel resistant film that can be sanded easily and painted after 20-30 mins.
Whats the red fuesalage behind you with the lovely shaped fin from? Im enjoying this series.
Hi Oliver, that's my Dream Bogey conversion👍 ruclips.net/video/leIJfhNN_CE/видео.htmlsi=webl7vOC6LMWAssX
What cloth covering would you recommend for a 108" dallaire
Hi Larry it depends on how you want it to look, also are you a dope fan or do you prefer using the iron, there's so much choice on the market, also you may want to paint it yourself or use a colored finish 🤔👍
I've used iron on cloth and just recently covered an .020 free flight timers nightmare with esaki silk cloth that I've been sitting on a while. I started with stick and tissue kits in the early 70s. Most of my planes are electric not concerned about fuel proofing. I in the US not much available as far as cloth covering goes. Could you send names of manufacturers
Hi Larry, on birth of my bigger models I used Solatex, another make is Oratex, it's not cheap though. A friend here used dress making fabric, he details it in his Channel, ruclips.net/video/jmiEYOdcE7M/видео.htmlsi=RPSV6v78ZBYglrMT 👍
Hi Larry, I've just 'discovered' another covering that looks really good, I think it's made in France but here's a link to it in the UK, cheers www.sarikhobbies.com/product/diacov-1000-adhesive-film-for-model-aircraft/
It's looking great, shame about that tissue. Obviously you aren't worried about the 'plane's weight with all those coats of paint you're using. If the model was a free flight one you could use thin copper wire from a piece of electrical cable as a hinge, the various flaps would then stay where they're put.
Duke and his compatriots were huligans! At the time he was flying those machines they'd fly over our house and break the sound barrier, we used to regularly claim for our broken china etc. from the RAF!! They got fed up with the residents complaints in the end and banned them from doing it.
Gret story Tony, thanks for sharing. Regarding the weight it's actually not too bad, because the paint's water based a lot of it just evaporates. I also do the thin copper wire trick but I hammer it flat as well which makes it a bit more malleable, cheers 👍
