Also: Why not get the CPU with the iGPU anyway? If your GPU has issues, you need to use it elsewhere temporarily (troubleshoot another PC or whatever) then the PC with the CPU with iGPU will still work! 😀🤷🏽‍♂️

I being a creator edit a lot of videos and I'm looking into upgrading my PC , I almost was gonna go for an i5 12600KF which was a lot cheaper than the K variant but something told me to research whether it was a good decision. Turns out that the iGPU really is really important. Thank you so much for uploading this video! Wish you good luck man!

This made a huge impact!! I saw some video saying I should deactivate my internal GPU so that my RTX 4090 would get all the work load. A load of nonsence it now turns out. My big project went from rendering in H265 in 1 hour 46 min, down to only 22!! minutes when enabeling the integrated 630 gpu. Both worked hard, more memory was used(I have 64gb) and the load on my CPU was reduced. Thanks alot mate!!!

You're totally right. I love having Intel iGPUs even on the older CPUs (which I am currently on still). Would love to see a video on 12th gen Intel perform with AV1 playback though. There's a lack of good content out there discussing this specific use case. It would be great to elaborate on it more since newer CPUs and GPUs now include AV1 hardware decoders. 😁

Hey, very gratefull for having found this channel & information on hardware specifically for creators. ( Finnaly !!!!) . Caught your first recomendation on the igpu & was jaw dropping information for me & just in time before I built my new PC ( 12700k + z690 Aerog + 32gb Fury 5600 + artic Freezer 34 S.D. + 500gb firecuda OS m2.) My Old build ( 6700k + z190 Gaming+ 64 GB Vengance 2400 + Samsung 980 os+ other drives.+ (gtx 1660 -(will prob keep for a while unless someone pays what I want for it then go for a 3060 or similar, see what intel comes up with?).)
Was recomanded ages ago to disable igpu? Now during my build I have come across a few interesting things. Because I work as a photographer I have my dual monitor setup & everthing configured to work on my old build I have not yet completely moved over due to having to calibrate screens, etc...
I have been using Task manager to monitor Gpu usage etc while working, ( Workflow Bridge - ACR - Photoshop.) So one day I am using ACR & realize my Igpu is shooting up & down from 100% & my 1660 is doing like 1 -10 % hardly anything but in Photoshop was mostly 1660. So I checked & in Photoshop my 1660 was activated but in ACR only the igpu & I could not change it. Then I realized I forgot to plug the monitors back into the 1660 so they were connected through the mother board. I did not realize Photoshop could use the GPU 1660 when connected through the motherboard, and then why does Camera raw not?
Just makes me wonder with Davinci Resolve & Premiere what difference it would make connecting through the mother board or GPU?

    • @theTechNotice
      @theTechNotice  2 года назад +3

Photoshop was using your GPU coz it's programmed to use NVidia GPUs if they're installed and Drivers are up to date and then your iGPU was running the monitors. Generally I'd recommend running your monitors through the dGPU.
ACR most likely can't utilize NVidia GPUs, but I'm not sure how they've programmed it. :)

I recently ordered an Intel Core i9 12900KF Processor. Despite spending over $5k on a new system, I didn't really see the point in an extra $10 for the Intel Core i9 12900K Processor with it's iGPU. iGPU Graphics performance is not even close to the 3080Ti. I also didn't need to rely on it as a backup as I have backup GPU's to seemed a bit pointless. I was not aware they could work in tandem, especially after reading so much that the iGPU disables itself when a dedicated GPU is installed. Anyway, if they can work in tandem, from my experience I've seen many compatibility issues when trying to run a Hybrid GPU system, including many content creation and engineering titles. Also, why do so many video editing programs have options to enable various encoding, etc via the GPU if that wasn't a good option. Having said this, Ive revised my order and are now getting the K version.

If your system is close to bottle-necking on RAM than you definitely will need to add more to take full advantage of the iGPU benefit. I went from 32G to 64G of ram and the system is very smooth, plus it added a few more years of life to this 4yr old system.

This answered my question in previews videos! Thank you message received buy the igpu! But I have some doubts still, you will only be able get away with buttery playback so as long as you don’t start adding de noise, color grade, or fusion in davinci this will actually not be enough, yes the igpu helps along with the 3090 but in real world settings some of us are using a lot of effects that are demanding. I think this bench marks should be done with real world scenarios. Still it’s helpful.🙏🏽

So... basically, does the iGPU only work when editing h264 or h265 without any effects? If you add a color or contrast adjustment then the iGPU stops working and only the PCI GPU takes care of the task? When I edit LOG footage, I usually add a LUT in an adjustment layer, just to watch the video with more contrast. In this case, the iGPU doesn't work?

99% of videos benchmarks on internet are useless. what the guy above tell in the video (Hi, Sorry , i don't know your name) is right, it's the first time I see someone telling it on youtube. It's very difficult to find information on iGpu or finding real use performance on professional software (even running on graphic card) like Video editor, Audio Editor (DAW), 3D etc...
is cinebench is interesting to use as "benchmark" ? not at all, and i have a Red Giant / Maxon Licence !
I'm video editing my videos in Vegas Pro 19, and i use my iGpu (i7-7700 + intel Graphics HD 630) instead of my 1050ti Nvidia graphic card which is more powerful than the iGpu !
it's the 630 that i use in Vegas Pro. why ? Stability, much better quality picture once rendering the video too.
When running the software on the Nvidia, i can get 20 crashes per day with it. With the iGpu, less, and sometimes completly crash free (when we know why it's crashing, in the past it was worst with previous version of Vegas pro).
    There are other examples.
But here both card are running together. some plugins are Gpu CUDA accelerated like the Neat Denoise video plugin, but the video editor run on the iGpu engine.
Most benchmarks are done here and there for gamers, but not everybody does gaming with a computer. I don't do game with it, i'm doing video, Ai picture/video processing, and Music composing !
Benchmarks are most of the time absolutly not a real case scenario, but extreme performance tests to see which one are the best once put at 100%.
most of the time it's not working like that. In a video editor, 50% of the time, will be spend in Idle, or very cpu use, and then, graphics card will be used.
on Topaz Video / Picture products, Gpu is not used 100%, so we see often people complaining that their video card is not running very fast "and i bought a 3090"... the best thing to do was to come on the community forum and ask how such a card is running with such software.
I never had any issue by running my computer with both Gpu + iGpu running at the same time.

Lol Cyberpunk isn't capable of more fps unless you kill the quality settings, and that hasn't changed in a year. Turn off RTX turn off High quality shadows, turn down pedestrian fill level, put up with hitches and glitches everywhere because that's the game with your CPU and GPU combo.
CP is terribly poorly optimised if at all, and that means it will never perform well on todays hardware unless you nerf the settings.

Honestly, the biggest pro to having an iGPU is troubleshooting. What are you going to do if your GPU suddenly has no display out? If you have an iGPU it's easy. You plug your display cable into the mobo and start trouble shooting. If you don't? Well, you pretty much have to start swapping parts and tearing down your rig.

Here's the real question. What about in things like Blender or Keyshot where you're rendering a scene with a 3d model and other 3d assets you've created? Are you using the encoder/decoder then? I googled around briefly and it doesn't seem so?

I couldn't agree more. In fact, I can edit 4K H264 10 bit 4:2:2 on a laptop with 7th Gen Intel 7700K (HQ) and Nvidia Quadro M1200 mainly because the two GPUs work together.

    • @derJackistweg

Intel quick sync is NOT supported on 7th gen according to this sheet (which is probably correct)

@@derJackistweg Long story short, I select "Intel Quick Sync" as encoder when exporting from Davinci Resolve (works with H.264 and H.265). Task Manager shows 100% utilisation on the integrated HD Graphics 630, and 50%+ on the Nvidia Quadro, depending on the grading.

Spot on. 👍🍕🍺. With my 12700k and z690 mb and 3 Gen 4 m.2s my limitation is rendering w my older gtx1070. Question does 64gb over 32 make a difference? (And speed?)

    • @mastroitek
      @mastroitek 2 года назад +1

As far as I know speed does not make a huge difference. DDR4 3200 and 3600 will be pretty similar in perf. Capacity limitations can definitely slow you down, just check how much ram you are using while working and see if you might need an upgrade.
But if you have 32gb at 2666 (example), I don't think it is worth it to go with faster ram, just add other 32gb at the same speed if you need them

The benefits of iGPU for desktop can be power saving. Though do you have an idea how much is the power draw of the GPU when the igpu is in use for browsing/idle ? I can not find much information about it. I do not want the dedicated gpu remains idle taking 15W if it can just be "plugged" and in Standby (2-4 watts). This would allow big savings since most power consumption in on idle, making intel cpu better than AMD finally.

I know the video is quite "old", but I feel like you should have included an AMD card, because they got their own solution. I would always go with a non-F CPU. I got a Ryzen 5 1600 on my old system and it´s just annoying that I can´t get rid of the GPU and still use the PC. To be fair, the price difference is a lot bigger here in Europe. The price difference of a 13600k vs a 13600kf is depending on the situation somewhere between 20-50€ extra for the non-f, which is a sizeable chunk of money to spend if you are really sure you don´t need it.

Let me tell you a valid reason to buy a KF variant. The iGPU has limited use and not all users need it. Besides the price, which I agree is neglectable, the KF has one benefit - it tends to have higher chance for a better binning that K variant, and the reason is that good K variants are now sold as KS, while KF is any K with a failed iGPU.
