  • Since having the Intel Core i7 12700K within our test rig, I have wanted to see how good the UHD 770 integrated graphics are when it comes to gaming. Have Intel improved their iGPUs enough to game yet? Let’s find out.

    32 fps in Red Dead Redemption is unplayable? It is a ridiculous statement. "Universally, 24fps is accepted as the norm for a “cinematic” frame rate. 30fps is accepted for broadcast in North America, and 25fps is the broadcast standard in Europe."

    • @BH4x0r
      @BH4x0r Год назад +4

      the problem isn't necessarily the framerate, but in games the frametime varies a lot, so even if you gain 32 fps one frame might last 10% longer than another one, that feels EXTREMELY laggy
      then still anything under 60fps doesn't really feel good at all in games, because once again frametimes are the biggest culprit, better to have more framerate than your display can show as otherwise even 130 fps on a 144Hz screen can feel like shit but completely fine on a 60Hz screen, and 60Hz screens looks blurry in motion in high action games
      might be good enough for racing games but when you aim with a mouse it's a big nah
      older 30fps playstations (so up to the PS4) feel completely unplayable to me, i get nausea in like 20 mins or less in the case of those
      I don't know why we, humans, are so susceptible to frametime differences, if we see a constant stream it looks sorta smooth even if it only changes 30 times a sec, but if there's even the slightest difference, literal milliseconds between frames, it feels unsmooth and laggy

      Anything that is in last gen consoles also have a really smooth frametime on Intel IGPU, I don't know what's happening in newer tittles but a lot of them have really bad optimization.

    The UHD iGPU definelty isn't the best for gaming lol. But when I was shopping for my 13700K, I specifically wanted it. Because of the iGPU, I can use Intel QuickSync encoding and decoding in Premiere Pro along with CUDA acceleration, improving my workflow. Great video as always mate!

    For GPUs designed to just be able to output pictures/slideshows/videos and webpages at 4K, Intel’s desktop iGPUs have come a long way.
    The fact that you can even open modern 3D games on them at all now is surprising, let alone play some at 30fps.
    And they are blessing to have in a high end gaming rig if your GPU dies or needs troubleshooting. This is really there most common use case.

    I recommend using FSR and XeSS where available instead of lowering resolution to 720. Could have run at even lower internal resolution, and it would have still looked as good or better than native 720.

    • @TechLabUK

      @@TechLabUK No for UHD. Yes for Ryzen 5700G. I leave the resolution at 1080, but use FSR. If I try the same game at 720, it subjectively looks worse than 720 upscaled with FSR.
      BTW, I got in on the Intel ARC A750 LE for $199.99 at Newegg here in the U.S. last week. Still testing old games to see what will work without having to add the latest DXVK DLLs. But I will definitely be testing XeSS in Cyberpunk this weekend.
      Also: Big thanks for all the testing and info you have provided on ARC. 🏅

    I find it quite geeky that people who review so many PC components cry about how bad a UHD is when the 770 for what it is is quite impressive. To be able to play AAA games in 2024 with not graphics card at 1080p even if its on the lowest is amazing. Doubt people who've been spoiled with high end GPU'S and CPU'S will understand. UHD's are starting to get better than some popular low end gpu's from the past.

  • @TheBorkka
    @TheBorkka Год назад +2

    For playing some of the most demanding titles avaliable getting around 20 fps isn't that bad.
    I mean the scenario where you skip buying a gpu you would probably not play those games anyway. So you could be fine with other simpler games.

    I played some recent double A releases on the laptop UHD 520 on an i3-6006u, running both single channel and dual channel 2400mhz ddr4. It actually managed to run many modern games and almost all old games on modest to impressive settings.

    what RAM setup you use? 4gb x 2 or 8gb x 2? 4gb x 2 now kind of obsolete for iGPU and APU. with 16gb rRAM you can play probably only up to 900p-720p but its can run some game even in high settings for some indie title, my Athlon 3000g get some boost when I change from 4gb x 2 to 8gb x 2, there some game eat my RAM up to 4gb.

      If you mean editing and exporting videos then no, you don't "need" an external graphics card as you can simply encode on the CPU but generally people do use GPUs because it's faster encoding. Supposedly.
