  • The GTX 1050Ti has been a legend of a GPU within the budget gamer market due to it’s low price and ability to run in older office PCs, requiring no additional power connections but is it still the minimum for modern gaming here in 2024? Let’s find out!

    I have a friend who uses a 1050ti as a display output on his PC and has a 3090 that he bought for $100 as "dead". The 3090 doesn't display out but will work to "process" games. He assigns the 3090 through windows to a game AND it works!

    • @frankshaw2057
      @frankshaw2057 Месяц назад

      @@arenzricodexd4409 There are so many factors involved with any form of upscaling to gaming. The game engine used to build the game. Was FSR employed as the game was being made or was it after the fact and the implementation was an addition to the finished programming? How much involvement did an AMD team have? Are there certain series of graphic cards that will run FSR better than others? There are now six or seven levels of FSR and some games are already on their second installment of FSR. The point being that this is an evolving thing and will always have room for improvement but that it is something that will allow possible longer gaming life to someone's rig is a good thing.

    Well, I WAS able to get 60fps in the Black Myth Wukong framerate with the 1050 ti. All I had to do was lower the resolution to 900p, graphics settings to Low, framegen to ON, and FSR scaling to 33%. Easy peasy! My stock speed i7-920 probably did not help matters too much.
    If FSR3 Framegen doesn't work, you can try LSFG instead. Results may vary, beware input lag.

    1050ti being the 2020's of the 2010's 750ti.
    Solid, budget, power and performance friendly.
    Granted, it is starting to show it's age, but it's not out of the fight yet.
    Though pairing it with a 5800x3D feels a bit odd.
    How would it handle the same benchmarks, if it was in a budget oriented build based on say... R5-2600 or 3600?

    I ran an EVGA SSC 1050 Ti in combination with an i5-3570K for an uncomfortably long time (Dec. 2016 to May 2023) and I overclocked that thing _as far as it would go,_ never let me down. If memory serves correct I managed +170 MHz on the core for an average clock of ~1950 MHz and +500 on the memory for an effective 4004 MHz clock.

      I think a combination of things tbh I was talking about this earlier in regards to AMD processors. Like the 1st gen Ryzens are now 7-8 years old but can still be used for modern gaming whereas before that, 7 years before Ryzen, those chips at Ryzen's release were useless. I think games haven't moved that far really because they made the huge leaps with Ray-Tracing etc and it's so demanding they still have to make games work find on older stuff.

      I would say in terms of new minimum for the latest games would have to be something that will at least play Alan Wake 2 ok. Only because this type of demand will start becoming the norm as time goes on. So at least a 6600xt maybe? so at least you have all the right technologies etc. only kind of guessing though, suppose it depends on what you consider as "modern gaming".

      For modern gaming in 1080P? I would say ... RX 6600, RTX 2060 ... they are about equivalent, but for the price difference, an RX 6650 XT is very good value and ties the RX 7600 in terms of performance. Depending on which is cheaper go with those. Honestly NVIDIA really aren't in the game at the entry level anymore.
