I have not bought and tried the hard candies…try pre heating in the oven at 200 for 35-45 minutes and then straight into an already heated to 150 Freezer Dryer and turn the vacuum pump on immediately.
It went back to almost exactly the same as before freeze drying…I’ve had them packaged and checking frequently to see if the moisture from them will be a problem, so far so good.
room temp makes a huge difference, I made this video in the winter. Caramels and salt water taffy, really any individually wrapped candy you need to be careful with.

I made the mistake of unwrapping on and putting them on a little plate it was a huge chunk when I got back I'm talking maybe 5 minutes
