Just wanted to say that I got this P305F code my 2015 Malibu along with another code ( P16D0 - but doesn't have anything to do with this code). After finally getting the part for the other code, I had only this code left. I had the auxiliary battery tested before I purchased one, and it tested just fine, no issues 100% and 13 volts. I also tested all the connections from the front and back like this video showed. My issue turned out to be my main battery. I had a mechanic test the main battery, and even through the battery had 12.7 volts, the device read "bad battery" and showed that the battery did not have enough cranking power. I replaced the main battery and it fixed my problem and the code.

Thank you. Dealership wanted $225.00 to run Diag / connect code reader. Auto zone charged $0.00 to read and Google to code. You helped me save $325.00

Just changed my buddy's auxiliary battery, he took it to the dealership and they told him $1700 to fix the problem! They were going to charge him $670 for the battery and another $670 for some sensor they claimed was bad them $500 in labor! The auxiliary battery only had 8 cold cranking amps left.

Having a second battery that needs to be replaced (after paying for a diagnosis) at least as frequently as the main battery, defeats the savings of the start-stop system, especially if the second battery has a shorter life than that of a regular battery. With gas prices going down savings of start stop system are even less.

I never got a response, but an educated guess is no. No power to the auto-start and it just won't engage. I can't conceive of any issue with that except one and that's why I got the new battery. If I didn't get a new battery the check engine light would always be on, and maybe when something more serious happens I would not know, because its always lit.

I've been sorting this problem out for a bit on a 2016 Malibu. My question that I just cant seem to resolve is. Why does this model eat up these batteries so often. You had indicated 99% of the time its the problem. 100% so far for me. I replaced the battery after I had researched and learned that likely to be the case. And a simple test. Seemed like after a few months the check engine light came back to life. So I again started looking into all the connections and Fuse block and the (DBCM) dual battery control module. All seemed well. So back to the battery to double check because stranger things have happened. Sure enough. The battery was at 27%. recharged full. Hooked up again and had dropped to 76%. Bad battery indicated. So trying to locate a new battery. Probably sitting in a shipping container off the port of Los Angeles. Does this battery charge from the alternator as well or? Would it benefit from separate trickle charging? Does the frequent charging over charge/cycle and kill it? Usually these little batteries die of neglect and lack of regular charging and or use. But you'd think in a regularly driven vehicle it would be maintained well enough to last as well as your primary battery. AutoZone has a Duralast Platinum AGM with a 3 yr replacement warranty. Most others are only a year. That seems to be about the life span. Any thoughts or light you can shed?

They should use a super capacitor setup instead. The lifespan would be much longer (but super caps of course are larger for the same capacity). Even lithium batteries would be a better alternative given the extended lifespan you can get from them now if you only charge them to a maximum of 70-80% their rated capacity.

Respectfully sir, what you said about the auto stop feature being disabled if the fault was present is not true because mine is still working even though I’ve had the code present for quite some time. With me I went to my mechanic & asked that he check the accessory batter & he replaced it. Fine, the code/engine light went away. A couple of days later it was back on again. Then I returned to my mechanic & then he suggested replacing the main battery. Sigh….FINE go ahead & do it. They did it, got the car, coded was gone, check engine light was cleared, everything was good to go. Couple of days later, to my utter amazement, it comes back on AGAIN! So what is it this time? Currently as I am writing to you it’s still on & even my guy doesn’t know what the hell is going on. The 2 NEW batteries can’t be bad, so what’s the problem this time? Went to Advanced Autoparts & they scanned the code & VIOLA! It’s the same old code, now what do I do?
Seriously, this is crazy, but if there’s some other reason that this is happening then I’d appreciate a quick shoutout. Unless of course both new batteries ARE bad but how could that be? With my luck you never know but if you have anything else I could try I’d love to know about it. Thank you.

Today my 2014 chevy Malibu was giving me problems. The car shut off once while driving today as well. I took the car to auto zone for a diagnostic and the results were :
    (P305F) and (C0800-03) and Secondary DTCs : p0010 & p0011
So I took my car to Schwab for my battery check, they told me that the power problem was from the main battery and the problem wasn’t with the battery in the trunk with their first diagnostic. I took my car back to Schwab after 2 hours of replacing the main battery to make sure the issue was fixed, with another diagnostics. With the second diagnostic, they tell me that the problem is with the battery in my trunk... lol.
Any tips for me to get this issue fully fixed?
