The stills looked ok , the video you could see the white balance flickering , and even with the very slow panning it did not look overly smooth imo , a bit over hyped imo , and not forgetting the free bugs .
And these days , most modern more expensive phones regardless of brand have the word flagship attached to them , but they have minimal hardware features , and almost no accessories in the box , hardly what you would call a " flagship " compared to older high end phones , other than a decent screen and camera .
      Meh .

I have no idea what they did with the june update, but it completely fixed my P6 Pro. Before that it was probably the worst smartphone experience i ever had, tons of bugs, camera kept crashing, battery lost 10-15% over night etc.
Ever since the june update it's flawless, no bugs or slowdowns, battery finally only loses 1-2% over night, camera works flawlessly and even during fast charging it doesn't even get warm anymore and the fingerpint sensor isn't instant, usually takes a second, but it never needs multiple tries.

    • @borrism5041
      @borrism5041 2 года назад +2

@@Anthony5ist No regrets so far. The main improvement over the S9 would be performance (my S9 was starting to struggle with multi-tasking, so the increase from 3GB to 8GB of ram is very noticeable).
Although I didn't have any issues with the S9 software (it was my second Sammy), I do prefer the P6 'pure' Android experience, less bloated and some useful features (call screening, voice typing is fast/accurate, not to mention the infamous Pixel camera smarts). I miss the rear mounted fingerprint reader on the S9 though, the in screen reader in the P6 is definitely slower and I prefer the placement on the rear - your finger automatically finds the indent when you pick the S9 up!
With the P7 launch just around the corner, the P6 is already starting to drop in price, so would be a good time to upgrade. Btw, I'm using the P6, not P6 Pro (the P6 doesn't appear to have as many reported bugs as the Pro and the size was closer to the S9).

    Camera (3/5):
Shooting photos and videos with this phone main camera is amazing, even in low light. It would always impress me, the stabilization is also good. The downside is the ultra wide camera. Shooting videos in low light with the ultra wide camera results in a washed out video. The quality is so bad that it is embarrassing to call this a "Pro" version. My 3 years old OP8 (OnePlus 8) shoots a way better ultra wide video in low light, and the camera is the OP's weakest point... The front camera photos are underwhelming. The telephoto is great, however, I only got to test it in normal lighting.
    Battery (1/5):
This is a 5000 mAh battery device, it should last you the whole day without any trouble. Left home with 72% charge on my OP8 and 78% on the Pixel. I used Google Maps on my OP8 for 1h34m, 30 minutes of it is probably searching for places, the rest was for navigating around the cities. On the other hand, I used the Pixel for taking a few photos and 2 short videos, not more than 10 minutes of usage. Used it for chatting for around 45 minutes. This was a 8 hour trip. The OP8 went down from 72 to 39, the pixel went down frok 78 to 32. 33% with 1h34m Maps vs 46% with 45 min of chatting and a few shots and 2 videos. I tried Anker's 30W charger, and it charged around 13% in 10 minutes - definitely not 30W, my OP8 does 20% in 9 minutes. The phone's battery did well on Wi-Fi though, so the problem might be with it cellular receiver.
    Software (2/5):
Google's phones are known for their "software". I am not impressed by it, not even a little bit. The camera app would crash so frequently that it got on my nerves. I bought this phone to take photos, and it has built its image on simply doing that, but they can't program an app that functions properly. Google assistant does not work when the phone is locked. I enabled the option in the settings for the assistant to give personal data when locked, but it didn't work. The routines in the Google Assistant didn't work either. The rest of the commands worked fine.
    Performance (3/5):
The phone is fast, I didn't challenge it much except with compressing some videos. It is fast, and weirdly enough, it compresses videos to smaller sizes than on my OP8. It does heat up a little while compressing but that seemed normal to me. However, I noticed that it heats up a lot more with normal use (taking a short video, sharing it, chatting a little bit, RUclips) than my OP8.
    Build (4/5):
The phones looks amazing to me (highly subjective) and feels premium. However, the display seems hollow to me when I tap on it with my finger nails, comparing it to a Samsung A31, Note 5 and the OP8. I bought the white color - Google (and pretty much all companies) feels like they need to call it some weird name cloudy starlight or whatever - and it looked quite good. I hated the shiny aluminum frame, it looked like the shiny plastic frames you find on the A series from Samsung. The speakers are not good at all, but I am used to the OP8, which has one of the best speakers out there. I can't exactly describe how it sounds, but it sounds like when you turn on the "surrounding" setting for your headphones.
    Fingerprint reader (3/5):
It is fast enough when it actually tries to read your fingerprint. What does that mean? There were many cases where I lift the phone, it lights up and shows the fingerprint reader, I place my finger there and nothing happens. I lift my finger and retry, and it reads it perfectly, never missing. I guess the phone would wait for the animation to finish playing before attempting to read my fingerprint.

I'm completely happy with my 6 pro, I must be one of the lucky ones who's fingerprint scanner works each and every time, even with a screen protector on. Yes it does seem to overheat even when not doing intensive tasks but it doesn't affect it functioning properly. Photo's are awesome even in low light or at least to my aging peepers.

I am a day 1 adopter and the phone getting hot is an understatement. During gaming sessions it can get to unbearable levels. The front sensor I've had some issues with and I still have no idea why they behind the rear finger sensor of the pixel 3 that was so perfect. The performance is there though, everything looks and feels great. I think across the board I enjoyed my pixel 3 more than my pixel 6. But if you are needing a strong and modern flagship phone its certainly stronger and I'll be using it for the forseeable future.

My fingerprint sensor on Pixel 6 Pro started to work recently!
Last update I gave it another shot, registered two of my fingers again ... and nothing worked, same old same old ... day later, no restart, no change in settings it started mysteriously working, and it still works almost flawlessly.
I have no clue why I was blessed with working FPS after it pretty much ignored me for half of the year. Might be down to some mysterious hidden update ... like USB DAC or VoLTE in pretty much every country :)
Still PFS on my OG Pixel and Pixel 5 works much better.

Almost a whole year later and I still have customers trying to return the device after only 5 days of use because the flash is flashing in their eyes during a call, it is bugged, or has zero cellular connectivity. Hi Uncle Chris,
I bought the Google 6 Pro on launch and found it an amazing experience. Never had a finger print issue and found myself being a bit of a google finger print defender. Unfortunately I have noticed a couple of odd things over time. The finger print reader will work well for a span of time before for no apparent reason it begins to misbehave and I have to use my blasted pin. Then it goes back to normal and all is right with the world. The other strange thing I have noticed is that if you unlock your phone it is a little on the sluggish side. However if I use my finger print for an app such as my banking app or google pay it is much more responsive and even a touch quicker. Still over all I still love this phone and I still feel it gets far more criticism than a Samsung or most other phone brands would get if they had the same issues.

I love the pixel 6 pro, I'm not going to sit there and say that there haven't been people with major issues. However, I will say that with the most recent June update most of my complaints with the device have been solved. It seems like there have been a lot of people complaining about signal with the device, in my experience I do agree it isn't as good as some devices that I have used but it is far from the worst of any device either.

Definitely experienced that slippery backing, before I got mine in a case it used to slide like a tiny glacier down the armrest of my couch and even down my leg if I was wearing something like business trousers!
Ironically, got it in a case and just a few days later it slipped out of my hands, fell and totalled the screen - repair cost is AUD$530 which is more than half the cost of the Aussie launch pricing, that's through Google's official repair channel so the IP68 rating is guaranteed after the repair (allegedly).
Interestingly the fingerprint sensor was excellent for me, huge step up over my bafflingly bad S20FE 5G that despite registering 4 digits only responses to left index finger, even after software updates. Pixel 6 Pro was fine on all four, just can't pick these things!
Loved the cameras though, huge step up from S20FE 5G and my Wife's S21+
Cheers for the 6 month review mate, great video concept even for those of us who bought at launch, even for a sanity check on things that we're experiencing. Keep up the killer work mate!

The fingerprint scanner is by far the worst. The minor slow downs and all around midrange feel from a flagship is disappointing. The first time I believe that she will switch to IOS this year. It constantly drops calls, drops Bluetooth headsets (multiple headsets), cuts off data while looking up stuff for work, it constantly overheats and sometimes turns off. The fingerprint scanner has been a complete joke also. I regret buying this device after 1 month. I will never give Google my money for a phone ever again, horrible bugs that never get fixed. I will say tho, since the Android 13 update 2 days ago it is slighter better and improved fingerprint scanner. But that won't pull me back from the other side of the fence.
