Usually these models will eventually overheat, and that will end up causing the yellow light of death. Probably why Sony stopped the Ps2 compatibility with the later models.
No, they stopped to cut costs. The newer models had 65nm RSX chips which were more reliable than the 90nm chips. @@eternal_fan_cuz_she_good No, never cut holes in the console. It disrupts the airflow pattern and makes other components run hotter and die sooner like the power supply. Trashing these things will only make their rarity and scarcity to go up. There's only so many 60GB PS3s left, intentionally destroying them like people did back when the PS3 was new and the yellow light of death was a phenomenon nobody understood is the antithesis of gaming preservation. We now know what causes the yellow light of death, we can now see SYSCON codes to determine the exact cause of the yellow light of death (and no the NEC Tokins are most likely not the cause because they're very reliable in the PS3). @autolife2785 the answer to the yellow light of death is not the capacitors, not the thermal paste -- although they are good but short term fixes -- but the 90nm RSX chip. NVIDIA made a poor chip from 2006 to 2010. When the PS3 Slim came out, Sony used a 40nm RSX chip....THAT is the solution. You replace the 90nm or 65nm chip....depending on your fat model and replace it with the 40nm RSX chip. It is called the Frankenstein Mod. Computer Booter does them. After that...wouldnt have a problem for a long time.

Even tho i have a ps5 and series x. I miss the 360 and ps3. Might pick one up. Lol.
At least this system don't have YLOD, People should keep those for collectiors item without throwing it away.
With how far emulation has come you don’t need ‘em anymore
I found one in the dumpster at my apartment. It won’t read discs but otherwise it works.
Because it didn't have backwards compatibility, outside of a certain model...
Don't tell them if they don't want it i do
Ditches the 120gb slim and picked up this beast
I tell you why, mine has been sitting on a shelf for ab 5 years so tomorrow I am going to put out an ad for ab 25 bucks.
You should always clean these and replace the thermal paste in these, most console players are just illiterate and have no idea that the thermal paste dries out in their play station with time and they end up getting their consoles fried 😂
I been looking for one like in the condition in my country they are 200-400€ why are people throwing these away
I only have the ps3 with auto save since because maybe my dad doesn’t want to loose a save catridge
Yes sir 👍🏾
I wanna get a PS3 and a PS5 to play every single GTA and Tekken game that is out there. And the launch model PS3s are the only consoles that can play every single GTA game to date(at the time of writing this).
I just got my ps3 ceche01 model cleaned and thermal paste replaced and still got the YLOD after 2 weeks....
I myself had the same model as you that I got used in 2021, and got YLOD just like you. I took it apart twice replacing the thermal paste and the capacitors, and still YLOD. So I feel your pain. Just do like I did, and get a non-backwards compatible fat like I did. It's way better, way quieter, and never overheats.
I got a fat model but mines isn’t BWC which sucks but I’m no longer tripping…I can look around to buy a ps2 for the low and hopefully it works
You're better off just getting a PS2 with a non-backwards compatible Fat PS3. I say this because in my experience, you can take great care of Backwards compatible PS3s, but they still will die. There's no way around it. I own the non-backwards compatible fat and it's way more reliable. And I just play my PS2 with my PS2 games.
That ps3 is a beauty ❤❤
absolutely gorgeous after a clean up! check this short for a much higher quality showing!

I never even owned one lol I literally skipped 3 and 4. I have 5 tho. Had 1 & 2.
You better know what you’re doing with those boy they need to be de-lidded the slim models do not have to but those ones you’re gonna have to put some money into them or they’ll just overheat. They’ve been sitting for quite some time. Trust me you play that you get the yellow out of death in 30 minutes.
Lol this video is well over a year old. I opened the console and put fresh paste and cleaned dust. No delid required and they are still running great. I've used then for several videos and modded them
They shut down after getting hot
My backwards compatible ps3 died from the green light of death. I tried to get it fixed but nobody seems to know how to fix that. I'd be happy to get a new backwards compatible ps3. If people really are throwing these away please send one my way.
I wish I could. This was from over a year ago and I've since moved across the world
Got like 3 of them ❤
Have you fixed any not taking or ejecting disc issues for the 20gb model. I got it all undone and thought i had it working cause I tested it before I put the cover back on, but after I reassembled it she didn’t work again.
Because it's has alot of problems with the system
I have this model and I didn't get any problems
But its the 60gb cecha01 model
@@michael_simpson you must had a very good one then
@@humbleclarity598 uh well the guy who gave it to me had it when it came out
@@michael_simpson because he must have took good care of it every sense he first had it so you are one of the lucky one's lol...!!!
Quietest PS3 i have ever heard lol. Mad jelly
Play my ps3 atleast 2 times a week still with a ps5
What would anyone say ones going for now please as I have one left n maybe sadly looking to sell it on n it's the best one fully backwards compatibility 60gb model that plays them all not like the 80gb and 20gb 👊in nice condition to even have few original dual shock 3 controllers which are getting harder and harder to find also have around 400\500 ps2\ps3 games steering wheel and pedals ext please comments welcome
Bro where you picking these up from ?
When I was making this content, I was located near a tech recycling center. People kept bringing these in and paying us to take em
Let me get one bro. Please.
Please Help....I have a ps3 Fat backwards cap. that works but crashes when playing large games. I'm desperately looking for someone that knows how to repair this issue anywhere in the US. please please help
In some ways that’s cooler than a ps5
😢
Is the PS3 Fat PAL Backwards compatible with any region CD games of PS1,PS2 and PS3 games or region lock?
From my understanding they are region locked, but installing ps3hen can potentially help you. I have a guide!
I want one
Plz bro I got 1m ps2 games
Don't hook them up to the Internet updating them makes them shut down into the yellow light of death keep away from internet connection
I would say that’s not correct since I just updated mine to 4.90 a few days ago. But,I updated it with the current Evilnat custom firmware, and haven’t used actual Sony firmware since 2018 on my 60gb BC ps3…lol
My flap dont come up?
Likely not a backwards compatible model. If you have 4usb ports on the front it will also have the expansion area. If only 2 usb ports, then no extra slots, no backward compat and no flap
300w off the wall
There wa-
Ill take it
Send me one.😂😂😂
lol i wish i was still in the area to find more of em
I'll take one even if it's not working. Need to resurrect ps3 fat back from the dead.
This was from over a year ago and I was at work cleaning parts to list on ebay
Im selling my fully backwards compatibility ps3 60gb the best one as the 80 has trouble with certain games going for mad prices need to know what mine is worth any one comment please
Give it to me
They’re old and unreliable. My personal opinion. 🤷♂️
Ps3 is goat. I'll take it and play guitar hero 😂
Fat ps3 don’t last though
I’ll give it 2 years and it’s dead
HAHA I RUINED 69 COMMENTS
Bro they are cool and everything but ps3 is trash
I bought one on ebay a few years ago for a 100 dollars refurbished it kept overheating and turning off
Because they were garbage
Why do you think so? Genuinely curious
Lol ur probably like 9
Maybe because of the random yellow light of death that appears in the old models?
@@elecman748 I could see that to an extent. Out of the 4 ps3s I have now and the 3 or 4 I've had before I haven't experienced one myself but I acknowledge the issue
No they were not
