Thank you so much! My dad started doing this repair on my sister's car and had a massive heart attack partway through. I had to finish up as he was recovering in the hospital and this video was exactly what I needed.
I'm glad he's doing better.l have a w203 ,and that thing has almost given me a heart attack from frustration working on it in the past...now it's time for this ..it looks easy but ?
It's not just the C-Class that has this issue, the W210 and 211 E-Class, and, I understand, early CLKs that also use these plastic window clips and they break very regularly indeed. Some of the Mercedes-Benz specialist parts suppliers can supply replacement metal items that are a lot more reliable, which are ideal if you don't like taking your Mercedes doors apart every year or so...
Thanks for helping me out on my broken "peg". My left rear window all of a sudden would not rise. Looked down inside the window channel slot and saw that the regulator was working fine but not brining the window up. A bit hesitant to take apart as this was my first Benz (special tools?). I did the extra precaution of removing the positive battery cable first as there is an airbag module in the door. Was able to do the job with a T50 and T25 and a small pry bar. After pulling up the plastic weather sheet, my window was sitting there resting at the bottom just attached to the rails above.. My fingers on the clip broke off so nothing to expand in the glass hole to hold it attached to the regulator. I was surprised used this cheap plastic clip! They could have gone one more and used a nylon screw and bolt too right? The expansion happens when those fingers are forced out by the plastic slopes on that nut that slides in the finger groves when you tighten the screw. So having the info that you presented, I added the washer and screwed it back together. Also, spray some silicone in the track grooves as this might have added to the failure of the clip fingers. Window is up and just in time for the rain that started! Now I know if I had brought this issue into the dealer it would have been $$$$ to replace that plastic clip. Must be part of the weight saving effort by not using metal. Keep the info coming and thanks again.
Nothing more satisfying is when a bodge you come up with to make something work that actually works, did you attend the same course as me, the bodge it and bash it school of engineering. Congrats Mike another great video My 300SE broke a plastic door lock rod fastener and you guessed it No lock!! My of eBay for under $4 were Toyota equivalent fasteners that need slight modifications/persuasion to fit But hey it’s fixed and it works

nice job and video. Wonder if this plastic piece was replaced in modern mercedes models and if you can get it in metal instead of plastic (for a longer term reliability :)

The camera will work a lot better this time he said, then I end up feeling sea sick with all the toing and froing with the camera. But it was a very informative video just the same. Well done Mike

@Braden Jorge Thanks for your reply. I found the site on google and I'm in the hacking process atm. Takes a while so I will get back to you later with my results.
Much better camera work, thanks. I love the sound effects; you're so proud of them. Question: how do you know the window regulator is not installed upside down? Does it matter?

What is the name or item number for the plastic regulator clip that you are replacing? I cannot find just that piece on ebay or on MB website without buying the whole regulator which I do not need? If you can provide the correct name to search or item number would appreciate it?
I got those from the junk yard. I searched pelican parts, autohausaz, and fcp euro but didn’t see anything. Let me investigate further and get back to you.
I really want to watch your videos, but there is no place for the "F" word, or asking God to damn something. It does not enhane you message, and if it offends potential viewers, then you will be limiting the number of viewers who will subscribe. We don't use that type of language in our home and don't allow others (including RUclipsrs) to use it either. I woud like to be able to watch your videos with my grandchildren present, and will not, if I have to listen to bad language. I'm not a hater, and hopefully, you will see value in what I've said.

I fixed my w203 window regulator with normal bolt, some plastic wrapping, washers, and nyloq nut. (self locking nut). Now it will last forever!

When I removed it from the junkyard car, the tabbed ends were down!
Don't flip that thing over or as I found out to my cost it can derail the cables.
