Thank you very much, I’d love to fish any fly in Scotland man! Always wanted to go. Fish the beautiful rivers and go to the distilleries at night. Will be my dream vacation some day!
@@McFlyAngler I do feel blessed that I’ve lived in Scotland for 52 years, the fishing is fantastic Rivers and Stillwater, and we’re not to bad at making malts and whiskeys 🥃🥃👌🏽
I do sell flies yeah, however shipping to Scotland might get pricy. Do you have Instagram? If you do can you find me on there and private message me? Same name as here.
i know Im randomly asking but does anybody know a trick to log back into an instagram account? I was dumb forgot my account password. I appreciate any tricks you can give me!
I agree! Smaller is better for higher elevation areas! However when tied in small sizes (20 and under) I like the parachute version. It floats a bit better on smaller sizes and parachute allows for upsizing hackle. It’s hard to find 20 and under hackle that isn’t crazy expensice
McFly Angler Good point and you can actually see the parachute version. I have about half of each in my dry fly box. And the parachute can float a dropper nymph better. Good call Angler.
Very nice, done like a true master ! Redfish will be schooling up soon here in Charlotte Harbor. I will be tying the Foxy Shrimp by 239 Flys this weekend.
I have not, it’s the one with the deer hair body right? Seems like a lot of extra work spinning deer hair for not a lot of extra fishing ability. Maybe it floats better but I think there are other flies that will float just as well, but are much easier to tie. Lol! I guess I’m lazy
Awesome fly. You make it look easy. I've learned a lot from your videos and appreciate it all. What is the intro song? The guitar riff is pretty catchy
Thank you. I believe on this one I used a sample song from the editing program I use called I-movie. I don’t believe it is something you can purchase, just something that was created for use in the program. Sorry….
That's the best instructional vedio on tying fly's I've seen so far. I'm fairly to to fly tying and chooseing the right size hackle has been a problem with me. My hackle fibers always came out longer than my wings are tall. But explaining what part of the pelt to get each Hackle cleared up my problem. I do need to get a hackle gauge, that will also help. I also, like the way the wings came out, they look GREAT !!!. The hen feather wings look so much better than the Cock feather wing. But, it seems like everybody uses the clock feather. After seeing your pattern I wonder why they use a cock feather for wings. Thanks so, MUCH for sharing this pattern with us. You have a new follower. Please keep the Vedio's coming.
Yes they are real feathers from chickens. Genetically engendered chickens that produce these feathers. Yes they are expensive, all hackled flies use this, and capes can cost anywhere from $50-200 each depending on the quality. But luckily they do tie quite a few flies, like you can get 400-2000 flies off each cape (again depending on the quality of cape).
Give it a go u will suprise yourself. These are standard hackled dry flies .setting the wings are the most difficult part. Every fly can be the hardest for a beginner but once you become advanced this type of fly wont.
Oh man, sorry, yeah it’s a tough part for sure. Hard to say over text here but, if you sign up to my patreon it allows me to setup one on one phone or video calls so I can further assist you. Only with the higher tier level though.
Looking for help with information concerning what value would be on a collection of vintage autographed flies tied by lee Wulff? Any advice as to where to find info would be greatly appreciated!
You can slow down the video or pause it. I do sped up because if I do a 30 minute tying video people will never watch. I used to do real speed, but realized that I was getting absolutely no views. People will not click on a tying video that is 20-30 minutes long. Just trying to give the people what they want. I understand some like the longer videos though, and I have a few on here that are longer. But for the most part I try to speed up the portions that aren't really needed for someone to learn the specific pattern. But like I said, if it is going too quick, you can always pause the video.
Many years ago I fished all June , July , and August with a old bamboo quad 6wt. And. 2 flys , an Adam's and a fom ant . I would fish the Adams dry, trim the hackle and fish as a emerger. etc . Fishing NY and. Vermonts havey fished water I did better than most .
No, not at all. And it sucks way less when you hook yourself. Haha! Also it saves the fish. I mean you could loose more fish I guess if your putting slack into the line, and not fighting the fish properly, but keeping tight lines, means keeping the hook in, no matter how big the barb is.
@@McFlyAngler could you maby make a bigger fly i have seen some pretty big flys but never a tutorials for them. so maby like for a catfish or something big. that would be awesome
To state that the Adam's " is the most popular fly ever created " whilst not lacking in enthusiasm could hardly be described as accurate...Primarily created for the U.S. flyfishers the sheer weight of numbers using the pattern dictates its success.
Best adams on YT. I just love the proportions and hackle job on this one. Beautiful work.
Thank you
@@McFlyAngler can you use a fly on any rod??? and have you ever tride?
One of your best videos
Thank you
Great looking fly
Thank you
Enjoyed this, well done!
Thank you! I’m glad you enjoyed it
What's the preferred width of Adam's wings? Seems there's a varied choice these days. I have been picking narrower wings. As things go. 4:24
I don’t think there is a standard here, I think it’s preference with the individual. Do what you find the best for your situation
Thanks so much bro! You’re tutorials are always the best for noobs like me.
Lol glad to help, thanks man!
I’m assuming you are no longer a noob? Any tips for a new noob?
Beautiful tying , would love to fish that fly where i fish in Scotland 🏴

Just a beautiful fly super simple and super efficient at catching trout
Thanks, yeah this pattern is a good one for sure. A classic

Glad this helped! So, if you wind the feather on the hook first you can gage it there also. Hope that helps without a hackle gage.
3:43 I never did know what a hackle measure was or how to use it. Are these real feathers from animals? If so they must be expensive?

Not easy no, but definitely not the hardest. There are some majorly difficult flies out there. Haha

Are there any substitutes for the wing tip wings on this fly?
I’ve only seen it tied with feathers. Grizzly hen usually. I’ve seen coq de Leon feathers also. But get creative

What are the tools you are using? Are they available in Amazon?
Yes, should be in the description section of the video..
Where can we get these bird bricks?
Best way is through my Instagram, just pm me there. Or my email is on the about page on my RUclips Home Screen
