I got my first truck in October of last year when I was 17. After almost a year of ownership, let me just say that if you do some major mods then don't expect everything to go perfectly. For example, I just lifted my truck and put new wheels/tires on it, and now I have some vibration issues that I have to fix. However, it is a great learning experience and the satisfaction you get from getting your truck looking how you want it is like no other feeling. Some first mods that are cheap and worry free are: Decals, steering wheel cover, window tint, bed liner if you don't already have it, phone holder, aux cord/Bluetooth transmitter, and LED headlights. Simple but effective. Great for a teenager like me. And lift kits and wheels/tires are huge and not in everyone's budgets but definitely recommended if you're looking to go that route. I love how my truck sits now vs stock.
I just bought my truck and I’m the second owner, I plan on doing some similar stuff to mine. I’m 18 now and I honestly want more torque out of this thing for towing. I’m thinking of putting larger gear ratios, and an lsd in the back and see what my results are.
I think one mod you guys missed that some of us do that use our trucks for work like hauling wood, dirt, stone etc is a spray in bed liner if your truck didn’t come with one. I have one for mine because I’m also hauling crap whether that is wood and or stone to dead animals that I harvested. Plus face it the bed of the truck sees a lot of abuse.
Corey Stoner mine has that plastic bed liner, which is good for me because when I bought it it had 133k miles on it, I’m eventually gonna use that spray on stuff when the plastic can’t take it anymore.
Loved the vid!!, I’m 15 and got my first truck handed down. It’s been a work/hunting truck in my family for 3 generations!! But anyways, I started workin on it about a couple months ago and here are some things I’ve done. -6” zone lift (ordered 2 months ago hasn’t came in yet) -20”-12.5” chrome wheels -305,60,20 wrangler tires -pulled h-vac replaced blend door(busted) and heater core just in case -new front seats -repainted trim and dash -tailgate led light -speaker system And that’s about it, until I make sum more money😁😁😁
I bought my fist truck earlier this year. I’m 42 lol. My mods that I’ve done thus far a 3in Lift, 20s on 33s, tint, headlights, tail light, bed light, stereo system. Next up is exhaust and maybe leather/sunroof.
I’m 26 and just got my first truck earlier this year a 2017 Colorado. First thing I did was tint 15% on sides and 30% on the windshield, then I did a leveling kit, then picked out some wheels and tires, and got a bison grill for the front. Had all of this done within the first month of owning the truck lol. I’m thinking about changing the headlights and tail lights now lol.
I'm 15 years old a bought my first truck yesterday it's a 2002 tundra sr5 v8 4wd access cab in silver dented but rust free almost 200 thousand miles on the 4.7 v8 put a thousand down on it paying off another thousand because I purchased it from the marina I work at in Massachusetts so exited to get going on some things with it
My first truck was a used 2003 F-250 Super Duty with the 5.4 2 valve gas engine. My first mods were: 1. Remove the straight pipe exhaust and install proper CAT back system. The drone on the hi way would rattle your fillings with a straight pipe. 2. Set of shorty headers and hi flow Y-pipe from SPD to replace the leaking manifolds and 90 degree restrictive stock Y-pipe. 3. Cold air intake 4. Electric fan conversion. Better hp, torque and fuel economy. 5. Aftermarket Cams to make the little half ton engine able to do what a 3/4 ton should do. After 12 years I am still making my truck irreplaceable.
I wish I could say this...but my truck is a tool not a toy. And tools wear out with everyday hard work so if I get 5 more years out of my current truck I'll retire it to winter snow pusher
I'm 15 and I have a 2005 Dodge Dakota with a 40 series flowmaster with 4 inch tip, I also have a ram intake. Now I'm saving up $350 for a new sound system. I've had this truck since September of 2020, its currently January 31, 2021!
First mod I did was add a kc lights and Baja lights next to my window then got an exhaust tip, then got some license plate covers, then got new wheels and tires, then got a new front bumper, and back bumper, then put some led lights under the floor, now I’m planning on getting new headlight and taillights and get a lift. I’m on a budget. junior in hs and making 12 bucks an hour working around 27 hours a week.
I’ve done 4 of these new headers and mufflers new head lights and light bars/pods new bumpers front and rear and American racing wheels and 32 inch toyo MT’s (this is all on my Chevy blazer)
In less than two months of ownership of my second truck I’ve put on a bullydog tuner, cold air intake, 2500 hd mirrors, 3” suspension lift and smoked tail lights looking to get 33x12s next
I'm super happy you mentioned local exhaust and only paying a few hundred. Me personally I couldn't pay more than $400 for an exhaust system. Thats over kill in my opinion.

Got my own truck thats MINE about 4 months ago. 2004 Silverado 1500 crew cab 4x4 with no rust. Two days ago on my way to work I blacked out while driving.(first time anything like that has happened). Ended up crossing lanes and going into the woods. Took out 7 trees. Don't know how but all the truck needs is the front clip(fenders, hood, grille, bumper, lights and core support) and neither me or my uncle were hurt.
I just wish mine was mint condition. 96 f150 Eddie Bauer edition 2wd 5 speed. Straight 6 you just can't kill them! It's been sitting for 8 god damn years but hell if I kept that truck till I die it'd be worth more than a house because it's an Eddie Bauer.
Shawn McQuade facts, if u keep the front end really clean and simple it will make it look at lot better than the over done and custom front ends in my opinion
When I was younger I would’ve been all about this. Now, I say upgrade your lights, put on a/t tires, maybe a 3” lift if you just have to have one, good floor mats, exhaust, and fog lights if your truck doesn’t have them already. Be subtle, and your truck will look better than everyone else’s after they changed the whole look. Not to mention, lifts mean bigger tires and new wheels which mean hella money every time you need new tires, the performance chip makes it run better buttttt, it also wears parts out faster which means more money. And at the end of the day, when you’re ready to get something new, people aren’t paying more for your personalized mods so you’re going to have to take it all back apart and get it stock OR lose all that money you dumped into it. If youre making a fortune, go for it. If you’re part of the working class, be smart.
Got a 03 gmc sierra 1500 4.8L my grandpa bought me but I've busted my ass to pay him back but started to modify it with front and back blacked out led headlights, black mesh grille, mayhem tires, stage 2 brian tooley cam with all the fixins, shorty headers and exhaust system, performance chip/ tune, light bar, led tailgate lightbar, new touch screen radio with new speakers and subs, looking to get down road window tint, better fuel injectors, bigger throttle body, higher stall torque converter, new tranny, and eventually supercharger.
