You can't argue with the simplicity of the product or the price! If it nurtures your new chain and sprockets on a long ride then you're onto a winner - will look forward to an update. A well presented video. Cheers.
Thanks Quentin, my first impressions are very good…used over two trips and and seems to keep chain and sprockets well oiled without residual oil going everywhere! I did have to slightly adjust position over chain and on reflection the original positioning would be best done while someone sitting on the bike. Obviously I’ll run it for several more trips and then do an update video 👍🏻
Awesome video, I just ordered mine for my VLX600 Honda! Your instructions were very clear & concise. I appreciate you taking the time to teach us DIYers:)👍
@@alejandroacosta2394 thank you for the feedback, I’m really pleased it was useful for you 👍🏻
Watching to see how you get on with this Andrew, as usual a great informative video buddy 👍
So far it’s working great, easy to use on the move, not messy, and seems to keep chain and sprockets nicely coated whilst travelling 👍🏻
Is very good. I have it on my cb500x for over a year. And i don't have any problem with it
Thanks for the feedback, mine also seems to be working well after several weeks
Thats actually a good idea. The reservoir serves as a hydraulic cylinder when turned pushing the fluid out. Good accessory for the CB500X
It’s working well in use, glad I fitted it
Thanks for your reply I’ve topped it up again and turned it a quarter of a turn started straight away then when it stopped turned it back a quarter of a turn once it had stopped and that seems to stop it from dumping all oil out been alright over last night no drips at all thankyou for your time cheers Steve
Glad it’s working for you Steve, good value for the money 👍🏻
For those wondering how it doesn’t leak out on its own, remember when as a kid how you put a straw in your glass of milk, put your thumb over the end and pull it out?
It’s the same principle. When you push the plunger down, the oil is forced out. Once the pressure neutralizes, the plunger is like the thumb…the oil shouldn’t flow. If it does it’s because air is getting into the reservoir.☺️
If thinner oil is used it might not have enough viscosity and if an air bubble works its way up, it will leak.
I have this for my CRF300L but sold that bike and got a Grom instead. I am thinking about putting it on my new bike.
A very practical explanation of how it works 😃
👍 good video mate
Thanks Stan 👍🏻
Great video! For those who had a leaking problem. Had same problem with first oiler... It leaked ALL THE TIME! Now I've learned that you must turn it back a quarter turn to release the pressure! Not sure how well that works... Failing that or rather BEFORE LEARNING THAT I ran the oil tube UP THE OPOSITE HANDLE BAR CABLES BRINGING IT TO THE SAME HIGHT AS TUBING COMING FROM BOTTOM OF OILER. So now I just turn 1/4 after gazing up and I'm done! NO LEAKING! By doing this the oil doesn't have a ''straight'' path down. The oil goes down only to go back up again before dropping. Hope that helps!
That’s very helpful info, thanks for letting everyone know
Thanks for the tip, i have been thinking this same problem.
Thank you for the nice explanation.
Thanks for watching and pleased it was useful
i bought one of these some years ago called the cobrra nemo 2 . it cost about 70 pound then a couple of years later alie express came out with thT one for 20 pound
Great video mate. Been looking at this for a while in my country. Sadly no reviews on the product page
Thanks for watching, its worked well for me over the long term
@@thecampingbiker791 glad to know. Already ordered mine. Thanks again

Hi. Thank you for the video. In related but can you tell me how you fitted your tomtom to your screen bar.
Cheers
Used a RR mounting bracket, top quality bit of kit.. here’s video of it, highly recommended but not cheap… I’ll put a link in for it

Can anyone suggest a suitable Shut-Off valve for one of these oilers please?
It is funny…I was thinking to try the same product. My reason to go that way is that there is no extra maintenance after the installation. All the others share some extra complications.
Great minds think alike 😆 so far mine is working well and doing the job required of it…obviously I still clean the chain at intervals but have seen the chain keeping more lubricated when off for a few days, particularly if dry and dusty! Have a look through the comments though as one or two have experienced problems with oil dumping on garage floors but I haven’t so far had this issue!
@@thecampingbiker791 Actually it was the "Cobra Nemo 2" I want to buy. I thought that this one is the same. At the end of the day I ordered one GIDIBII and see what happens. 😃
@@MotoPavilion can always swop out for a Cobra if it doesn’t work 😆
I’ve got one as well, ……somewhere in the shed. I mounted it on the bike, but my OCD kicked in and I couldn’t stand the messy sight of tube, clips and tieraps on the bike, mainly the swing arm. So before even filling it up, I removed it from the bike.
I understand Marcel, not a good look on a nice pristine bike…mine is well scuffed with trail rides so adds to the looks 😂

Think of it as an IV tube to aid in the recovery of someone who has taken a bit of a beating!🤕😂

Hi..nice useful vid….hows it holding up over time? How often do you find yourself topping up the oil? Getting any grunge from the residue on the chain/sprockets ?
Pleased it was helpful…it’s held up very well, only just changed bike so not yet re installed on new one.. used sparingly it could last a couple of weeks, depends on weather conditions really. Yes, you do get a bit of grunge on sprocket and surrounding areas but not particularly on chain which just stays looking oiled, To be fair I don’t deep clean the bike very often, and certainly not after every ride, so just lived with it, however proper clean down more often would keep it from looking grotty! Device is best used when driving on slower roads, built up speed limit areas are good, as there’s less oil spray. Hope that’s useful 👍🏻
Thanks for this! I’ve just ordered a knock off of the knock off…..if you see what I mean! I it’s branded “Cattle King” on good old Ali Express and costs a princely £12 inc postage….hopefully it will arrive this week and I’ll have a crack at setting it up and report back. I’ve had lots of luck with ordering add-ons for my HD Pan America from here and saved a fortune…let’s hope my luck hold up ! I’ll report back in due course !
@@mattgolding7557 nice one Matt, I always like a good bargain 😀 I’m currently testing out a cheap (£25) Bluetooth helmet headphone for my Honda RoadSync connectivity on my new NX500…simply because I didn’t want to pay £200+ 😂
@@thecampingbiker791 I’ve already got a set….currently £24 per item on the same site….it functions perfectly for my needs…..although the only minor criticism is the fm radio reception is a bit lacklustre….all the other functions are spot on. I didn’t need or want all singling/dancing £400 solution just to be able to hear the or their half squawk at me, take phone calls and hear sat nav instructions …it’s perfect for my needs! I may even buy another as I swop between helmets depending upon the weather….. I looked into getting another headset but that was gonna be about £15 on eBay…..whereas I can get an addional full set for £24!
Great video. Thank you for sharing this . I've looked at Scott Oilers and stumbled over this video. It seems like a great alternative, however this requires you remembering to do it regularly. As I understand it, if you use this method of keeping your chain lubricated and clean at all times the chain should be oiled constantly so that the grime, dirt etc is flung off, otherwise you'll end up with that sticky paste again that we all hate which isn't great for the o rings and you end up on your knees cleaning the chain. So, I'm not sure how you monitor that. The Scott oiler seems to be a set and forget device which can be set to specific riding conditions ie rain, dry warm wheather etc. The Scott oiler seems to require a lot more oil as well vs the Nemo. It would be interesting to see how you get on with this. Will you still be needing to clean your chain? Will your chain last that much longer?
To be fair I used it on recent trip and because it’s there in front of me riding quite easy to remember to turn on the move…I’ll still be cleaning chain in normal way as well, but hard to say if it will make a difference over time but think it should
I found it works better than a scottoiler because it works on the principle of positive displacement, just like an automatic greaser.
You turn it 1/4 turn you get the same amount of oil regardless of how hot or cold it is.
Older scottoilers use the viscosity of the oil to control the flow rate, so in colder weather you get much less and have to adjust it.
It's cheap, it works, even if you do have to turn it manually every so often.
hi,had one on my blackbird about 3yrs with no problems til now.its suddenly decided to dump its oil immediatly after a refill . so i thought get the spare cap seal to find its a different size to the original black seal
Oh, that’s a pain! Never checked the spare just left in box!
Informative video. But the fluctuations in the sound is driving me nuts.
Thanks and appreciate the sound issues..have stopped using that particular Bluetooth microphone…just couldn’t get it to work properly 👍🏻
Brilliant video and piece of kit, I'm going to buy one but I have a question, will it work OK with engine oil ? I service my own bike and cars and have gallons of old oil that I use to lube my chain, bit discoloured and thin but it is filtered and free lol cheers.
Yes, would work…might just spray around a bit as thinner than the gear oil but can’t see an issue and use what you’ve got 👍🏻 It’s been working really well….one tip is when positioning the tube that goes over chain get someone to sit on bike to get best position, I had to slightly adjust mine after using it 👍🏻
@@thecampingbiker791 Thankyou, will give it a try.
@@royblackburn1163 nothing lost, and if too thin can always use thicker 👍🏻
@@thecampingbiker791 Yes, probably will have to in the oiler, my current method is to over lube the chain when I know I'm not going to be using it for a few day's and let it stand with a drip tray underneath so I practically eliminate spray, oiling in use is something I've never done.
@@royblackburn1163 likewise for my proper clean up I do the same…..this oiler should be good for multi day longer trips 👍🏻
Very informative mate but you could have washed ya bike first 😅. Gonna see if I can locate the reservoir on my ninja 1000 sx and give this a go. Always had scottoiler in the past but this looks a good system. One fill lasts how many miles Andrew?
Ha! Life is too short to wash bikes…actually I’ve just given it a snow foam treatment as it’s going into dealership for service tomorrow 😜
The oiler is holding up really well after much use and highly recommend 👍🏻
Did 11 days in Europe 2000 miles on one fill, using roughly every other day 👍🏻
It seems like a simple thing to install. Curious though, how long does one fill up last?
Yes, very straightforward to fit…bit difficult to say how long as depends on weather conditions and dry road v dusty trail etc! To give you an idea for me personally, I wouldn’t necessarily use every day unless winter grime salt and generally bad weather or on dusty trail rides, probably using every 3-4 days which with about 10 quarter turns would give me about a month of use!! I’m having to guess about numbers of turns but I’ll make a note of actual use and number of turns till empty as I’ve coincidentally just filled it up…wasn’t empty but always top up when I clean the chain.
@@thecampingbiker791 Thanks for the info!!
@@nickald79 No problem
3 months since you installed.. How is it working?
Going well, I’ve used on multiple trips and just an occasional use keeps chain well oiled. No leeks so far, others have reported it can dribble a bit when stationary but so far not an issue with mine…might just be when very hot!!!
Mine leaks. I was not able to fix it regardless of what I do and it empties itself within 2-3 days and my garage floor has all of the oil on it. So I guess quality check of the product is an issue and if you are lucky you get a good one... I'm able to adjust engine valves without a problem thou :D
It’s a real shame and as you say that’s got to be a quality control issue! Mine still retains the oil after about 18 months use, only leaking slightly if I happen to catch the reservoir or occasionally if very hot but then only a couple of drops.. all the best and I’m rubbish at engine stuff 😂 👍🏻
I think you have to turn it back a quarter of a turn after use to take pressure off
@@geoffreyshaw8856 good idea 👍🏻
Hey! Had same problem with first oiler... It leaked ALL THE TIME! Now I've learned that you must turn it back a quarter turn to release the pressure! So how did your giggly hold up after a year
It’s been excellent, no issues with it and just simply does the job intended 👍🏻
what about chain cleaning before lubing ? no need cleaning before lubing ? especially on a touring how can this be accomplished ?
I would always clean the chain on regular basis and these aren’t a replacement for that but just an addition, particularly with multi day travel or dusty conditions 👍🏻
@@thecampingbiker791 thank you ..is it ok to oil without cleaning the bike while on the run ?
@@NishadAbdulkhader actually, that’s the main benefit of not needing to oil separately on a couple of weeks away as the oiler will cope with it and if used sparingly will last a couple of weeks
might even be better if u have a brush at the end of the oiler so it can spread it evenly
Fully enclosed chain even better…I have a 42 year old MZ 250 (East German) and it has a wonderful fully enclosed chain, chain lasts forever!
is it correct. Spread everywhere around wheel. I used to oiling on a lower speed as possible. I try to find a place like shopping center parking area to make this procedure, but impossible use without spread.
Other thing, keep leaking when not in use so after couple of weeks the reservoir goes empty.
Not the best solution, but cheap. 😊
@@NORPAofficial yes, does spread a bit at higher speeds but I’m not to worried about that however slower speed are better for reducing the spray
So, what are your experiences with using this product, now after a year of use?"
Very positive, just works and keeps chain oiled particularly when dry dusty conditions.. easy to refill and only needed occasionally, not every day! I have found that if you accidentally knock the reservoir some oil can drip but other than that does exactly what it says it will do
Oh thank you for very helpful information. Do you use only this system for lubrication of your drive chain, and how often do you apply this 3 min shots when you are going on a typical journey?@@thecampingbiker791
So i trun it clockwise to start it and anitclockwise to stop it?. I dont have to keep turning it clockwise to keep it going?
@@angrypanda6942 no just turn clockwise with no need to turn back, it dispenses a small amount of oil and then stops..basically the quarter turn pressures the oil through and then stops when that oil has gone
@@thecampingbiker791 so I do have to keep turning it to feed it?
@@angrypanda6942 yes, 1/4 turn at a time and with general riding only every few days.. you shouldn’t need to refill for 2/3 weeks. Also, best using it when on minor road or relatively moderate speed as it will spray everywhere if doing it on a motorway for example. To refill just wind it back anti clockwise until it screws off and then ready to refill.. when refilling pour some in but not to top, let it settle as oil will find its way into bottom mechanism and then top up gradually to get full reservoir.. only takes a minute or so 👍🏻
Have you had any problems did mine worked fine then stopped ok parked bike up over night when I came to bike the next day it had emptied it self completely
No, it’s never dumped the oil, although has dribbled a tiny bit if I’ve knocked the reservoir or odd drops if very hot…other than that mine has been fine 👍🏻
@@thecampingbiker791 if you park your bike outside, maybe a kid played with the nemo2 and caused your oil leak....possibility
@@alejandroacosta2394 to be honest mine is kept in garage at home but it’s rarely an issue
The "spare" is a different length, it's longer if you need a little more reach as I did mounting on the inside of front/top fairing off one of the fairing mount screws, its very discreet where the steering area is. The oil line nipple also is removable using a 10 mm spanner.
Thanks for the clarification
thanks for your effort to make the vid, I enjoyed watching it. @@thecampingbiker791

Nice video. I got mine now. I wounder how it works because it is hole in the bottom of the container. If i fill it with oil it should just go through? I dont get it.
It’s all magic to me 😂 but it really is working well…think I need to look again at how it works, I’m sure I checked but subsequently forgot 😆
@@thecampingbiker791 Have you checked if you also have a hole directly to the hose?
@@BlaserAndDesert yes, the bit on the bottom with the black plastic (and spare in bag) has the connection hole for the tube which you just firmly push in. It’s actually a pressure valve that holds the oil in the reservoir until you screw the cap which causes pressure to open valve for short period until oil exits and pressure is released….had to re look at my own video to try and remember 😂
@@thecampingbiker791 Thanks for anwser. But i got no walve to hold the oil back. Just threaded connection and that the tube is fiting in. If i look down in the conainer i see the hole in the tube that is connected with that rhreaded thing if you understand. I can not se anything keeping the oil staying in the container .
@@BlaserAndDesertI’ve had another look inside the reservoir and see exactly what you mean, what I though was a valve just looks like a connector!! I’m at a loss at moment to see how it works but on mine the oil only comes through the tube if the body is turned and I can only assume magic is at play 😂 I’m going to look further into how they work and see if we can figure it out!!
I bought one for the CB500X two years ago and never got round to fitting it as main stand and gear oil on a paintbrush is so easy. I fitted mine to the monkey today. All was good until I just got home from the pub. The reservoir has emptied completely while the bike has been left all afternoon untouched. All over the garage carpet Not impressed
I bought the same Chinese knock-off and had exactly the same experience… they sent a replacement which did exactly the same… so I bit the bullet and bought an original Cobra Nemo 2, fitted it and it performed flawlessly for the 3 years I owned that bike.
Same problem I've got. Fitted it last night and this morning back tyre was sat in a pool of oil. Just what you need.
@@captainhaddock2137 absolute garbage
Just get dry chain oiler spray done it for years on my chain driven bikes the cobra ones in uk are a stupid price £85 on Amazon
Yep, I’ve used dry spray over the years and I guess only got this to test and review… it does work well but as expected sprays oil about which with this bike I’m not bothered about but if bike was pristine I’d use the spray
GIDBII is actually a Chinese Rip Off. The original is by Cobrra from Czech Republic.
Yes, very true
Not a big fan of mine. The kit's directions are horrible. They don't even tell you how to connect the tube, or what the spare gasket is for. I presume it is for when the top gasket eventually rots. The kit also doesn't come with bolts to actually mount the thing, which seems silly. Heck, mine didn't even come with oil. I do appreciate your video though, seeing it I expect will make my installation much easier.
Yep, instructions very minimal….took some leap of faith just pushing the tube together but in the end it all worked out 😂 Have to say, so far the oiler is working well, but let’s see how it goes longer term! Thanks for your feedback and glad the video was at least helpful in some part.
Mine has emptied itself all over the garage carpet . Not impressed
Where did it leak from Chris
From the end of the pipe. (Chain end)
@@thecampingbiker791 everything was done up tight. No leaks anywhere else. The bottom of the reservoir is totally dry too.
@@tweetchris46 wonder what’s caused that!
@@thecampingbiker791 I know right. It’s a simple set up. The cap is on tight with the rubber o ring in place so it shouldn’t let air in. An air leak would be the only explanation as it’s a pressure/vacuum setup
