So,the '85 bears played the "46" defense, scored "46" points that year in SB,coached by "46" year old Mike Ditka, and still FANBOYS can't see how SCRIPTED IT IS???🤣🤣 And to make it more OBVIOUS, the only other bears SB had "46" total points(29-17)...
For those who believe a punter does not matter, Redskins were looking good until their Punter was injured and suddenly the field position game went in Chicagos favor. Take nothing away from the bears, great team, great season and one of the best superbowl teams of all time.. but not having a punter did turn the game around.
The best was Thiessen comments about machman after the game, called Jim a beer gunslinger a hole. Jim said at least I can punt a football for positive yards
I believe the reporters asked McMahon for his reaction to Theiman's comments that were critical of the Bears. Right when that happened, Jim McMahon was handed the stat sheet for the game and said, "I don't listen to anyone who can't punt the ball for more than a yard." Hysterical.
The Redskins next two trips to Soldier Field resulted in divisional playoff losses by the Bears. The Redskins defeated the Bears 27-13 in January 1987 and 21-17 in January 1988. In both of those games the Bears had early leads. But key Redskins who made big plays in those divisional playoff games in 1987 & 1988 were Jay Schroeder, Art Monk, Clint Didier, Doug Williams, Darrell Green and head coach Joe Gibbs. Since this 45-10 win by the Bears early in the 1985 season, the Bears have gone 4-15 against the Washington football franchise including the two playoff losses in 1987 & 1988.
Willie Gault was, simply put, mediocre. He had no "feel" for the game. Jump! for the ball. Don't! let your shoes slip out from under you 90% of catches. Catch the ball! that's what you're paid for.
Maybe, but he was vital to that Bears offense because teams _had_ to send safety help with him because nobody could stay with him one-on-one [Darrell Green notwithstanding]. That helped not only their passing game, but also their running game.
One of the finer games from offense and defense where Bears backups came in and had some fun too
I was at this game. It was other worldly. The points came so fast and so furious you had to be there to believe it. They were actually down 10-0!

Jim McMahon my fav
these two went back and forth in the mid to late eighties. two powerhouses.
and how the hell do those cheap mccaskey's not pay Wilber Marshall & let him go?!!?
IDIOTS!
Jim McMahon knew how to play!
I remember watching this game and getting so upset. What a great Bears team.
Emery Moorhead was in my class of ‘70 at Evanston High (ETHS). He passed away.
Payton to McMahon, Touchdown. McMahon to Payton, Touchdown. Sweet.

Speedy Willie! 85' Bears were awesome with a healthy Jimmy Mac!

The beat Washington and Dallas by a combined score of 89-10 in 85’

Lol, he also called him out for being a womanizer who cheated on his wife.
Who are Thiessen and Machman?

If I recall, Walter only had a couple of yards this game.
6 yards. His low for the season.
I counted 16 penalties according to today's rules.

That my man was a butiful thing!!
On top of which, the Redskins signed Wilbur Marshall.
To me the 87 loss hurt more as they were up 14-0 and that was Payton’s last game
Didn't even watch this one - lol (u got me once)
It’s a shame they had to play on the lousy turf.
Sure would have been nice to see the final score. Anyone else think so?
45 - 10 Bears
@@edwardgensheimer6640 The final score in the Superbowl was 46-10. If you're going to act like a wise-guy make sure you've got the facts straight.
was that barry sanders at the end ?
Thomas Sanders
A drumming it was 45-10
Willie Gault...2nd best Bears kick returner?
No. You do know that Gayle Sayers returned kicks, no?
Darrell Green was the fastest man in the NFL. He won every time he ran in it. Gault was too slow to win it.
