What's even dumber is how people call McMahon a game manager who benefited from a great defense & run game then turn around and act like Montana was the Michael Jordan of The NFL. Joe's defenses every super bowl year were mostly elite with a solid run game AND several pro-bowlers on the o-line....
Man with Jim McMahon in there it gave the Bears a chance to win! Anyone recognize the great world class hurdler Renaldo Nehemiah? Because of him track runners get paid now! It's called the "Nehemiah Rule!" Bear Down!
I often wonder what kind of noise the 83 Bears would've made in the playoffs. People forget that they had two overtime losses [at New Orleans and Baltimore] in their first 4 weeks. 10-6 that year and they're in. By the last month of that season, they were really starting to come together. Their offense in 83 was not something to be trifled with. I would think the Bears would've given San Francisco and/or Washington a tough game. If the Bears win the division instead of Detroit, they go to San Francisco.
Well. The Bears had the potential to give anyone trouble because they were good in the trenches....McMahon was above average but he was important part in thier makeup....83 was an odd year for everyone anyways...
McMahon was my idol growing up in Elgin. His career is underrated. He was really good. He was better in his era than some of the clowns getting in the Hall of Fame now.
These 2 1980s HEAVYWEIGHT teams along with the Redskins and Giants were the 4 teams that ruled the NFC throughout the 1980s. Actually ruled the NFL other than ‘80 & ‘83 when the Raiders won it all.
Wow I can’t believe I just saw Jim McMahon running with the football knocked Ronnie Lott out, on his @$$! Oh man They sure don’t make quarterbacks like Jim McMahon anymore!
... if only he had been gifted an offensive game-plan as brilliant as the defense's. McMahon's college career and highlights present a very tantalizing case of "what-if".
they didn't square off. I really thought Jim was a great quarterback. But Joe was in a league of his own. Despite Brady's success, Joe was the very best who ever played.
Players back then just hated playing on turf, but they didn't really complain about it. They only complain about several stadiums with problems like the Astrodome and Busch Stadium. Those were the two worst surfaces in the league at that time. The Busch was more dangerous and rougher than the Vet. The Vet was in the top 5 but the Busch and the Astrodome were more dangerous and more injury prone. The Cowboys stated in a 1979 Texas Monthly article that they rated the Astrodome the worst in the league and they rated the Busch the worst in their division. They hated the Vet too, but they despise the Busch more.
If MacMahon didn't get knocked out of the season in 86 I think they very well could of gone to Superbowl and even won it. There defense was better in 86 then 85. But without a top quarterback, their number one qb, your not gonna win a Superbowl. Not usually. Bears back up QBs were just that, not playoff quality.
Jimmy Mac was a winner. People who call him a game manager don't get it.
Would have been something if he was in Joe Cools offense. Instead he had Ďitkas meathead offense to throw on 3rd and long.

Jim Mac won 25 games in a row when he started. 25! A record that will never be broken.
Just think, he wasn’t the starter for 2 of his more memorable comeback victories during that stretch.

Pure Jim McMahon. Runs right into Ronnie Lott.
Two proud teams
I really appreciate you including that musical intro. Yes, I really love Pots n Pans, but I love that musical intro more. It's my favorite.

I've never seen anyone run at Lott like that! McMahon was hell!!!
Montana and the 9 ers owned the 80,s .

Yeah that was when sports came out.
Good quarter back no FEAR

He knew he was going to get it if he didn't give it.
This is a game that Richard that made a statement , as a starter
7:11 TD pass from Mcmahon to Mckinnon This is the type of pass that Mcmahon could make but didn't do very often

U should be slapped for that comment.
It was ridiculous that Soldier Field was ever artificial turf. It made some sense in multipurpose stadiums but they weren't sharing it with anyone.
I showed my wife this video all she could say is " the players are so big and they play mean". She's funny. I do miss those days. Da Bears..
Jim, was a smart, tough QB ...he can play on my team ...heh, heh, heh
Modern NFL, say since realignment is too scripted and rigged WWE style foolishness, so I watch old Bear clips from 60s, 70s, 80s, 90s

LOVE THE PUNKY QB
Thanks

Cool to actually see this print. You did leave out 0-1 Philly though
On second thought, I guess none of those 0-1’s were ever any sort of a threat🤔
Jimmy, "I'm going to sue the NFL for not telling me this game can cause head injuries." NFL, "Don't forget to turn in your helmet."
Seriously?
Ig he felt like bringing up the CTE topic.
DaBears!
How is Montana, supposed to play, on that awful turf?
LOL...good one. Candlestick always was the worst field.
Soldiers field Chicago

@@aboriginalbrotha9947 appreciate comments Brotha 👥
That swing pass to Craig was the stuff of nightmares. I watched SF pillage so many defenses with that play.
McMahon with a 34 yd run?? Holy **** he had some wheels. Nice!
It was still the 9ers decade. A great bears team only one the SB in theyre only appearence.
