It’s so refreshing watching you guys. So real, and giving ideas with a budget. Unlike most RUclipsrs - $40k first class seat, etc. Thank you for being authentic! Seriously thank you.
You're not refreshing though.
I have a love/hate relationship with Hong Kong. I lived in China for 6 years but had to leave the country every 90 days. Hong Kong is Outside Mainland China for Visa purposes. I would fly from Chengdu to Shezhen, then a bus, a train to cross a line, and return.
I would also renew my Business Visa in HK. I once had to stay for 8 days, while my passport travelled to Los Angeles. Don't Ask! My 8 days were spent walking around and exploring HK. The clock tower you showed several times was the Clock Tower from a railway station which was demolished, but the left the clock tower and build a nice plaza. On the Kowloon side there's a park with 3 swimming pools, flamingos, parrots in a mini zoo. Worth a few hours . . . Best wishes from Bangkok.
I'm a Nails Technician. While I'm doing my clients nails. I play your videos. ❤ All of my clients love you two. Great job. 👍
oh really hu?
There are a lot of domestic workers from the Philippines and they all congregate in Central on Sundays. There are vendors who help the workers to send merchandise back home for the workers. Time for them to get together with friends and relax for the only day off for the week.
I guess this is similar to Singapore's Filipino domestic help who congregate at Lucky Plaza on Orchard Road...without the boxes 😀.
love this! felt like a fun party with music, good food, with he coolest living room to hang out in :)
Yes, the Filipino OFW workers send stuff home to the Philippines using Balikbayan boxes. This is a very economical way to send things to the Philippines, and it’s only available when sending to the Philippines. 😊
sooo interesting so me and my filipina wife need to visit when were there :)
They are everywhere in HK on Sunday the only day off during a week
As a Hongkonger, it's very interesting to see my place through the eyes of tourists. What a great video, thank you for sharing. Hope you enjoyed your stay here.
You are bringing back so many amazing memories for me. Plus, I love the way you travel. I’ve always done the budget trips. Now I have to listen to every word you say and plan again. Thanks for all your traveling ideas
I know we spend way more than $100/ day but am looking forward to planning a few challenges for ourselves to live on a strict budget for all or part of our upcoming trips.
Can't tell you how much I love this series. People might think you're missing out on things, but I feel like this is the best way to experience a place and not just its tourist attractions.
Keep up the excellent work! We all love watching you!
Yay! New video from Lisa And Josh!
Loving these long form videos you guys are putting out! Thank you for putting out great content!
Love from Singapore!
I love the old Hong Kong.
Great video. I love watching all the travel vlogs, but you two gave a different look to Hong Kong in a unique way, going to different areas, in different modes (escalator!). Really great stuff! I can't stress that enough:)
Having lived in HK for many years, you did a GREAT job highlighting some of the more important things to do and see. Well done!!
Exactly how I felt while watching the video. It's a shame they didn't visit the Big Buddha or spend time on Lantau Island, but not bad for 3 days. I lived/worked in HK for 20 years before moving to the Philippines. It made me quite nostalgic for the food and 'experience' of HK.
What a great video, I watched the whole thing and felt like I was travelling with you. Keep up the great content!
LOVED this video. Amazing work showing a budget friendly side of HK and Macau. Great editing too!
Hi thanks a lot for this video. My husband and i recently went on a four day trip to HK and we took a lot of ideas from this video such as eating in cooked food centres, taking that longest escalator and getting down at different places, taking trams etc. We managed to save some good amount of money and also saw a different side of HK. So thank you for your videos. Much appreciate it.
Fantastic video! Hong Kong is both so metropolitan and comfortable. Awesome food everywhere.
I love Hong Kong and Macau. I too budgeted for myself when I solo tripped there twice. The best way to save is eating where locals eat, avoiding anything fancy. There are so many beautiful places, parks, museums, beaches and sites that are free to see and enjoy. The Octopus is essential, not just for travel but to buy drinks in 7 elevens too. For myself, I visit every Bruce Lee site in these places, including temples and paying my respects to his teachers and his father.
The musical scoring is some of the best I have encountered here on RUclips. The music helps tell the story really well. I love it.
You guys are so fun to watch!! Def took down a some great ideas for my trip to HK. Thanks!
Fantastic video for tourists, we just stayed in Causeway Bay and I wish I watched your video prior to our trip. And spot on with the secret food places behind the wet markets. Well done guys!!
I have just found your channel today. I’m hooked! Love your edits and music thanks for taking us along for the ride
Nice!! Apparently, you guys were close to my family’s home when you visited the temple. Also, the green noodle shop by the escalators was the one Anthony Bourdain stopped at to have beef noodles with a famous director!
We went in November 2018, and it was still humid. Heritage Lodge was a cute boutique style accommodation on a university campus. They had a breakfast option, but I think the cha chaan teng breakfasts are better. The macaroni noodle soup is serious comfort food! Grew up eating a version of it in Southern California.
So glad you guys posted again! Love your style & honesty in the videos!! Definitely more our travel style than some of these other vloggers.
I studied abroad in Hong Kong way back in 2003, and it's funny because it looks exactly the same! The same mix of old and new, the same trucks, the same fashion sense, the same great food. Sometimes, it's nice to see things stay the same. I know Hong Kong isn't the same place anymore, but so many things on the surface look the same. Love to go back and visit.
yess!! we feel this sentiment so much--there's just something about going back to a place and having it look and feel the same as when you first visited
Come on back! As someone who lived in the final years of the colonial era, people over-romanticise the HK of the past IMO. My parents will tell you all about the hardships of the old days. It's a lot cleaner and safer today and all the awesome aspects of the city are still there.
Sad to hear that u HK isn’t the same place anymore😢
Great video. Honestly both sides are awesome. Hong Kong is one of the best cities to visit. So much to do at all hours of the day or night. Love it.
I so enjoyed this video! It brought back a lot of great memories; our family did a similar budget-minded visit to Hong Kong in 2019. One of my favorite free activities in the city was the Hong Kong Museum of History. I thought it was a gem - I learned so much about this dynamic city, and the AC was a fabulous break from the heat and humidity + nice rest rooms. I used reviews on google maps to put together a DIY food tour which was so much fun, a great value, and delicious! Hong Kong is one of my favorite cities in all our travels.
👍👍👍❤
Great to see that HK preserved the iconic brick tower of the KCR (Kowloon-Canton- Railway) and images of Star Ferry, the best and cheapest ferry ride in the world. On the other hand, it is a pity that this video does not show much (aside from KCR tower) of The mainland side of Kowloon and nice development and Colonial legacy.
As for Macau, too bad the videos were taken at night as it does not showcase the architecture of those casino buildings. And what about Macau's Portuguese heritage in the cobbled streets, colonial buildings, freestanding facade of a historic cathedral, Leal Senado (Loyal Senate building).
Another great travel vlog! The videography and editing is wonderful! It’s like I’m there with you traveling! Would like to visit Macau to see the Portuguese influence. Didn’t realize that part of it is just like Vegas with some of the same hotels!
Love your budget travel! Things are getting so expensive in HKG. Glad you picked the ferry boat (my fave) across the harbor n food court inside wet markets. Great job!
It’s one of the best video low budget and travellers wise ever! Thanks for showing me the HongKong in a different perspective 🎉
The vlog is amazing guys🙂we loved the way how you covered hong kong. You enjoyed the place like a local. Loved it !
I love Hong Kong. I’ve been there twice but I feel like I wanna go again. So I’m thinking of going there again next year and visit a new friend who I met in the Phil Rice Terraces. I love everything about it. Next time you visit, try the different islands not far from the mainland HK. They are beautiful islands, so clean, so cheap.
Hi Lisa and Josh. I've been following your channel for about a year now, since you got waterlogged here in Australia. I thought I'd leave a comment on this video.
I love your style of video. You keep it simple, and real and do your thing while allowing people around you, locals, to go about their business by not bothering them.
I have to tell you, for me, if I see a RUclips video that is longer than 25 minutes, I don't watch it. That is the reason I have stopped watching videos from other famous RUclipsrs (ahem.....Mark Wiens....). This video, I sat and watched it from start to finish. Loved it!
My favourite video I have seen on your channel? The best and worst capsule hotels!
Keep doing what you do!
Thanks Lisa and Josh for the lovely video, happy travels and best of times ahead.
Yep. You did it again. HK was not on my list to see, but after seeing your video I do want to visit and definitely will add Macau. It does look like Portugal. We were in Lagos for 2 weeks and the streets are exactly alike. Thank you for sharing your adventures.
Hk is absolutely beautiful. Amazing city
Very big fan of your work on your channel. I will always watch your stuff! It's so great! Thanks so much!!!
Just started to watch you both travel links and love it, liked the idea of "Budget" travel and yet you both seems to enjoy it very much, well done. Thanks for putting up the clips.
Awesome, thank you! Yes, we definitely love budget things, so we're enjoying finding all the budget ways to experience a cool place like Hong Kong!
I genuinely enjoy seeing content designed for regular travelers and smaller budgets. It seems that larger channels tend to rush through their edits, focusing solely on extravagant experiences or extreme ends, which makes it hard to find the same enjoyment in their content as before. Unfortunately, as these channels grow in popularity, they often undergo a significant shift in their approach.
Great job on a shoestring budget! Consider visiting in late November and early December next time, and explore other islands (e.g. Lantau Island, walking the steps up to the Great Buddha and stay for the vegetarian lunch at the temple across from it. Travel to New Territories and both of you shall have great times as much as in Kowloon and the Hong Kong Island. You two will find it different each time with the trip to Hong Kong.
Lovely vlog, Lisa and Josh.
Your vlog was very helpful, thought of Lisa at Victoria peak walking down with the insect bites, and josh thought of you while having a lovely meal at kitty, big thanks for the tips of using the shuttle service in Macau.Wishing you both happy travels and the best of times ahead in life.Do continue with your great work.
really enjoyed watching your whole vlog! what an adorable couple.
I remember in 1972, when we were kids visiting relatives in Hong Kong, someone bought us hot dogs and it had a mayonnaise type condiment (no ketchup or mustard) but it was so good! Funny how they still serve hot dogs that way. Brings back great memories. Went back to Hong Kong in 1984 and 2019. In 2019, went to eat the won ton mein, the clay pot rice, and Michelin star Tim Ho Won for delicious dim sum. Meal prices were so reasonable and the food was sooo good! Went to Ladies Market, the infamous escalators and so much more. We didn’t have time to go to Macau but always wanted to go there. Wish I can go back again soon! Mahalo for the great video!
Thank you, Lisa and Josh! Much love from the Philippines!
You guys are brilliant... my kind of travelers. I would so love to be travelling on your heels... not possible at the moment as my husband is ill. I live vicariously through you. I last Visited Hong Kong in 1975. It looks amazing now! Enjoy. Cheers Muffy from Oz (Australia)
I really like both of you and the idea that travelling like a regular person! I was a Hongkonger and like to the way you explored a place not like other blogger! Keep up the good work! Nevertheless, after pandemic, everything got expensive, it may be a good idea to spend US$125-150 for TWO!
Hong Kong is an expensive city. It’s rather challenging to live within a low budget. You guys are doing a great job.
Next time you want to have a bowl of good Wonton noodle, you can across to the other side of the street to 沾仔記,it’s a bit cheaper and equally good, if not better.
Those people in Central are domestic helpers from the Philippines. There are a huge number of them in the city. Sunday is their day off and Central is their most popular gathering place.
Thank you for visiting out beautiful city! Safe travels!
Good stuff! You hit quite a good # of joints that locals like, such as that old-style bread place in Causeway Bay and the Haiphong Road hawker centre that was recently renovated. Temple Street is for tourists, but you were spot on with the cooked food centre on top of the wet market and taking the free casino shuttles in Macau.
I enjoyed this longer budget conscious vlog. I have not been to Hong Kong, nor looked into it and strangely not even seen any other travel vloggers that I follow go there, so this was all new for me to watch and I really enjoyed it. Hope those bites didn’t itch too much Lisa…..Your poor legs. Looking forward to your next destination.
I loved Hong Kong, I just came back recently and one of my favourite things was using the tram lol it costs £0.20 if you use Visa card! incredibly cheap and fun
amazing!!
I like the vibe of this channel
Love this video! It's honest and love the budget activities! Thank you
Hong Kong and Macau look insane! I love Las Vegas and it’s my dream to visit Hong Kong one day. I’m not sure how easy it is to travel there at the moment but in the next few years I hope I can! A great vlog and new subscriber from me :)
we hope you get to visit too!! thanks for subscribing!! :)
I made my Japan plan thans to watching your videos and really liked it. Now it is time for Hong Kong. Greetings from İstanbul❤
Great video. Lisa, when you corrected yourself at about 22:35 from good to well, I decided to subscribe. The misuse of well and good is a fingernails on the blackboard thing for me. It drives me crazy.
I had no idea Hong Kong could be done on such a small budget. Good job.
Wow, $66 a day for accommodation is VERY good. Anything else can be very budget friendly if you got the accommodation down.
Great video guys, super informative AND entertaining! Love the goal of $100USD per day... we are here in Hong Kong right now and definitely understand the challenge. 😂😂
it's so cool watching you guys. :) thank you for sharing your budget hong kong adventure in 3 days, :) so inspire to create our 4 days Singapore trip as well :)
Might sound a bit cheesy but I found the open roof golden tram service for tourists quite amazing, the view was incredible, but you guys made use of the regular ones quite well all the same :)
we spent 3 days in Maccao, about 1 day too many, 2 days is more than enough to spend in Maccao. Australia Dairy was incredible, a unique food experience to HK not to be missed. HK food is its own thing for sure and its not bad at all.
what a great channel! love you guys!
I ❤ your videos, it’s like watching, the TRAVEL CHANNEL, BEFORE THEY changed the format ❤❤❤❤
New subscriber! Great video and saving this for the next time I go to Hong Kong!
I super enjoyed this video. Thank you! Now I hope to include Cheung Chau in our itinerary in September, if weather will be favorable😅
Thanks for showing us the world and that we can comfortably travel to more places than we thought!
wow, thank you so much! we hope they're helpful! :)
Ha…walking up to the Peak - not an easy thing, loved the video!
I love this series! Travel fever's burning me up and this has put Hong Kong high on the list for the next destination!
Take airport bus 21 or 22 down the ramp from the ATM machine and save 75% compared to the Airport Express train. Of course it take twice as much time or 30 minutes to go to central Kowloon.
First time watching your video and really enjoy it. Its very nostalgic since i used to work in Hong Kong. And at one time work in Causeway Bay and frequent that hotdog bun place you go to. It was always a long line during lunch time because alot of students buy there as well. I remember they said they will close some years back, glad to see they didnt.
Great vlog, some great tips, visiting Shenzhen for the day is on my list
I enjoyed your adventure to Hong Kong and Macau guys it was a great deal of fun. I have been to Hong Kong seven times, and I have seen it all and down it all there. I think that you both learned a valuable lesson on what time of the year to go there. Summer is hot and high in humidity. Not to mention the mosquitos love our American blood. Lol. If you go during Christmas time all of the high-rise buildings along the bay having amazing Christmas lights that have amazing light shows on them. The food is amazing and definitely stay on the Kowloon sided if you should go again.
Christmas time is impressive in Hong Kong
You may say 3.88 days instead of 3.75 days. 88 are used often because it is pronounced prosper prosper in Cantonese
yessss, thank you for this!!
The bike ride with Josh trying to take that hill. Priceless 🤣😉🤭
I’m surprised how much you guys experienced with this budget. I would say do stretch a little bit for some good dim sum, bbq pork/goose and cantonese cuisine if you can and you won’t regret. Overall very solid trip!
Thanks for the tips! yes! the dim sum we had was $25 for the two us, but so so good!
Thanks for sharing the video and your adventure. :). I lived on Hong Kong Island when I lived in Hong Kong.
Hello, Lisa and Josh, Winnie Jeh Jeh here. Enjoying your video!
Hi Winnie Jeh Jeh!! So good to hear from you. Thanks for watching it!! :)
I ❤ Hong Kong so much, been there in 1989, 92, 95 , 2013 and 2017 , so much memory. My relatives lives in the Jordan and Gun club area- nice video thanks 🙏- from Tokyo 🗼
if u ride the bus / mini bus to the peak it only costs u a few hk dollars , u really no need to walk up n down in a hot day. 😊
It's really impressive that you guys did so much in just 3 days!
I just moved to hong kong and im absolutely loving it! great video style! and a fair spending budget for hongkong hahahaha
love this itinerary! ❤❤❤❤ very unusual ❤
I miss hong kong.. been there........we only rode taxis to get around because I was with a disabled person...... wanna go there again someday.......this video is like professionally done.. thank you
This channel is very underrated!👌👌👌
Banger video! This series is so good

HK brings a romantic sense with the background music.
very informative and. specific, liked. the part you show all your expenses. , thanks
You just brought some really wonderful memories from my time in HK. I love this city, spent 4 fantastic years here.

Thanks so much!! We can't wait to visit the Philippines soon :)
Great ideas for my first trip to Hong Kong !
You guys are fun! We love Hong King especially the Disneyland there. Hopefully you visit us in the Philippines next year when we open our Beach Resort. Take care!
Glad you went out to Cheung Chau, it's such a quaint island.
I love your videos, very authentic, very immersive, with a great choice of music and dynamic editing. Btw what camera do you use to shoot ? Thx
Thank you for this video. I enjoyed it!
On a budget for real! Thank you. Your hard work and time creating this video is greatly appreciated.
Are you using cash all day or are cards accepted? Or like touch less payment?
The best tour consultants ever .. Lisa and Josh .. i mean it
Wow .. u go the most expensive city in the world. Proud of you. 🎉
Those people packing stuff and hanging out on the streets are helpers/maids from the Philippines, of which there are 400,000 in the city (most middle/upper class people in HK have maids from Southeast Asia). Sunday is their day off and they mostly congregate in Central. I recommend avoiding Central on Sundays as it gets too crowded.
this vlog is very helpful sir.. God Bless u two 😊
拍得很好~香港人也未必到過~香港天氣在秋冬季節會好些~謝謝兩位!🌹🎉❤👍
Great video, great editing and vibe. Informative without being boring (like many). Thanks a lot and keep up the awesome work!
really, really appreciate it!! :)
Wow u guys really gud on budgeting & at same time enjoying Hong Kong!!!
Shoutout fr Wall Street, Manhattan, NYC!!!
Nice video guys
Awesome Vegas vlog!
Kindling old memories for me, cheers for sharing 🍺
It’s a bit of everything in a ‘Company Sandwich”. Every cha chaan tang (restaurant) will have their style of company sandwich so they may look a bit different from each other.
The mysterious white sauce in the hot dog is salad dressing.
