To each his own. All of dillingers stuff is amazing. At that time I was involved in music and got to play with them a bunch and it was just a really good time. I guess I am more of a fan of that point and time than the music then vs the music later.

@@devinmichaelroberts9954 the name of your band does sound familiar. Our name was All Else Failed. We played alot up and down the east coast. After I quit they branched out a little out west but mostly shows in Philadelphia, New York, and alot in Delaware. We played with dillinger in Pittsburgh, Brooklyn, Baltimore and I think washington. After I left they went on a short tour with Dillinger and Darkest Hour. Ben and Chris really helped us out in trying to get our name out there by getting us on big shows with them and what not. Really good guys and like I said, they are responsible for alot of great memories for me.

I didn't listen to normal music again for seriously 10 years after hearing this for the first time streaming off their old website. The build up for the release of Calculating Infinity was insane and it delivered in every way. Was a crazy time to be following modern metal, after a couple years of Napster showing us all just exactly what was out there. This was something new, something cutting edge, and the rabbit hole led straight to Dillinger's Calculating Infinity album.

on this and Calculating infinity, these lot were writing on another level. what blows my mind is how different all the structuring is, yet each song is so clearly a song/piece in itself. Its like they found a new formula for writing heavy music no one has found before. I mean how the fuck would transcribe this...
I mean whats the verse, lool whats the chorus whats the middle 8 ,yet without using these standard tools each track flows in a unique way and seems to have a beginning middle and end.
I find their later stuff more a collection of various technical passages, where as back then despite in a way being less accessible , there seems to be a stronger more defined band vision and everything feels more unpredictable yet more together at the same time.
In short this and C.I. are master pieces of heavy music

History said this scheme was right when they made Irony is a Dead Scene together. This record is so fucking MrBungleful.
