Periphery has a little bit of everything for everyone to enjoy. Half the people arguing in the comments cant even play in instrument, your points therefore hold very little value. If you are a musican of any kind you would understand how things work for example: Spencers vocals be it his cleans or screams blend into the songs so well and they are fitting for what is being played in the songs.
Think saying people who don't play an instrument have an opinion of 'little value' is pretty risky! They're way better with Spencer. He's, hands down, the best vocalist this band has had. Though, his uncleans do remind me of Nick Xourafas'.. (Former Structures frontman) p.s. I loved Nick when he was in Structures.
Yeah well that's just like, your opinion man. Whenever I hear him sing "Off in the distance we can see shining clear our demise to be, we're not listening to ourselves" I get chills. Love him or hate him, he has major talent and a lot of people don't think his tone is garbage.
Salad Dressing Been there maan.. shit its fucking awesome. I've spent about fucking 2 hours learning the first riff at full speed, but I can compare playing it to masturbating. Seriously.
Without doubt Periphery's best album. Curious how it also has this very unique sound compared to their other work. The tracklisting, sound, lyrics and how the songs transition into each other so swiftly...everything about this album is perfection.
I completely agree. This is peak periphery. I wish I knew music theory to figure out why this album is so much better than anything they put afterwards. Besides the clear ep, everything since has been consistently worse...
You probably just like the way it is mastered/arranged, they have similar sounding tracks on other albums as well. Follow Your Ghost on Hail Stan sounds like a track straight from Alpha/Omega, etc. They have tracks all over from any year
Periphery: they seem to have influence of Death (band), Dream Theater, Faith no more, Incubus, 30 seconds to mars, killswitch engage, And 80s/90s melodic hard rock (a.o.r), Alternative rock, Pop punk, electronic, clasical music, jazz and spanish music. Wow!!
Looking back to Juggernaut to this, it is very clear they have greatly progressed as musicians. While I prefer this records openness, Juggernaut requires full attention. This is is still my favorite record from them, but Juggernaut makes it such a close number 1.
+Bennie Hill I didnt like the juggernauts it was evident they were trying to be as technical as possible and forfeiting any melody, this album backed up on the techy elements and actually had melody unlike the alpha/omega. also the kick tone and bass tone on those albums make me sick
I saw them live with Dead Letter Circus and Twelve Foot Ninja in October (no Born of Osiris because they're still not allowed in Canada). It was a great experience, even though I was at the very front and everyone behind me was pushing themselves closer to the stage, essentially making me a human pancake lol The price you pay for being front row centre. Totally worth it.
Zin Skymerald The band CAN come here, just not Cam. Which is funny, because they could have played Canada and find someone else to play the drums on the Canadian dates.
Kali Longpre Yeah, I was wondering whether they could get a live/session drummer to play with them instead. That would have been a better option than taking themselves off the bill for the Canadian dates.
The whole trilogy thing with Muramasa, Ragnarok and Masamune is so cool. Kinda reminds me of something Pink Floyd or Tool would do. I've said it so many times before but im gonna say it again, these guys are underrated as fuck.

you forgot good buddy elliot
i love periphery they're so atmospheric, and get better every album
Juggernaut is going to be sick if they improve as much as they did on this album
@@DavidRodriguez-hn8vl so what did you think of Juggy??
I agree 100%
This album is pure mastery. Fav song right now is "the gods must be crazy".
They're way better with Spencer. He's, hands down, the best vocalist this band has had. Though, his uncleans do remind me of Nick Xourafas'.. (Former Structures frontman) p.s. I loved Nick when he was in Structures.
His screams remind me of Corey Taylor.
Yeah I can't really think of another one either. I like screamers that can pitch their screams too.
Oh yeah, I forgot about Howard. What band is Jesse Leach from? The dude from Shadows Fall is good at it too.
Ah okay.
Yeah well that's just like, your opinion man. Whenever I hear him sing "Off in the distance we can see shining clear our demise to be, we're not listening to ourselves" I get chills. Love him or hate him, he has major talent and a lot of people don't think his tone is garbage.
Always come back to this masterpiece
Who's still jamming P2 9 years later?
😎😎
I almost keep this album on repeat 🤣
*39:23** - Make total destroy still is just out of this world*
duh duh duh duhjent
The guitar on Have A Blast (second song) is just fucking out of this world.
I've listened to that song probably 30 times in the last 3 days - no exaggeration either lol.
The solo is played by the master Guthrie Govan, one of the best musicians of the world actually
Yeah I know. He's a fucking beast.
I'm really fucking high and I am feeling the shit out of Have a Blast.
Salad Dressing Been there maan.. shit its fucking awesome. I've spent about fucking 2 hours learning the first riff at full speed, but I can compare playing it to masturbating. Seriously.
2022, lost friends and family and Mile Zero totally hits different now.
They have tracks all over from any year
@@opliko ya but I don't like alpha/omega :(
@@adino20 I don’t agree. They haven’t gotten worse, they just changed and matured their sound
@@jaydenjbryant8665 I hate the "matured" buzzword. What does it mean for a sound to have matured?
already got my tickets for periphery and animals as leaders
It might be just me, but it feels like every time I come back to this upload, there's more blips of silence in the album than usual?
Yeah...
all of these djent djokes are making me djittery.
+Carson Troeh as djittery as a djentleman?
Pikaboss as djittery as an undjust dastardly djuvenile djentleman than I am
Carson Troeh ...that's djust outradjeous...
+Carson Troeh dude, djust stop!
+Carson Troeh I dont know why these people leave comments here, If you're stucked at 80th/90 th then listen to Skid Row or G N R but dont piss us off
Man, 5:12 is just pure nirvana to me
Not talking about the band, by the way
Such a great band! Unique and refreshing sound and great use of odd time signatures. LOVE THEM!
best progressive metal album ever until today...
You dont listen too many prog don't you?
malemuffin64
Or he just has a different opinion than you
GetScaredGaming everywhere I go. Everywhere I fucking go. EVERYWHERE I FUCKING GO. I see you.
Periphery:
they seem to have influence of Death (band), Dream Theater, Faith no more, Incubus, 30 seconds to mars, killswitch engage, And 80s/90s melodic hard rock (a.o.r), Alternative rock, Pop punk, electronic, clasical music, jazz and spanish music. Wow!!
And ABBA
justi bieber and one direction also
f
I thought I was the only one who heard incubus in there.
Epoch is my wake up in the morning alarm and i love it. Some days i listen to it all as I'm waking up. Just has a great rising vibe.
P2 is my favorite album of all time.
+Bennie Hill glad someone finally nailed it
+Fractal Gaming Forfeiting melody? Have you not heard Heavy Heart or Alpha?
Don't you mean.....DJ0nternaut..? Sorry..I had to...
Not in a million years was Juggernaut as technical as P2 lol.
In case anyone’s wondering, this is still the best progressive metal album ever released.
Looked up The Bad Thing and somehow ended up here... can't complain xD
Just follow your ghost
Ragnarok one of the best songs ever written. Grats PERIPHERY!
Thank you for showing me my path. Too bad that it will only remain a path that I acknowledged, but cannot walk. Good luck forever and ever.
Seeing Periphery and Animals as Leader in 2014! :D Keen as a Bean!
Keen as a bean? That's not even a saying.
Henry Jones If you're Australian, you'll know it's a saying.
fuck you.
They're coming to Florida in February, GOD I WISH I DIDN'T HAVE SCHOOL OK
KEENE as the Machine.... ;]
This album changed my fucking life
PERIPHERYめちゃかっこええ!声いい! SUMERIAN RECORDS 応援してます!
You can thank Nobuo Uematsu for track number 2! Thanks FF !
Yeah? What is this in reference to? Not hearing the FF
+Braden Lloyd you can hear it in the intro, chords progression and that arpeggio.
Guthrie...Have a Blast...I cannot stop backing the video to 7:14
His guest solo's the best.
I find myself listening this album at least once a week, definitely the best album any band has released in 2012.
I saw them live with Dead Letter Circus and Twelve Foot Ninja in October (no Born of Osiris because they're still not allowed in Canada). It was a great experience, even though I was at the very front and everyone behind me was pushing themselves closer to the stage, essentially making me a human pancake lol
The price you pay for being front row centre. Totally worth it.
Haha why are they not allowed in Canada?
Cam was caught with weed at the border a few years ago. Since then, the entire band can't come here.
Zin Skymerald Probably, though there are plenty of rumors that they're not that great guys on a personal level..
Experimental Metal at its finest.
The "Erised is absolutely astonishing
I'm sorry but the ad placement at 1:05:29 was a CRIME
AGAIN AT 1:52 WHAT IS THIS
It's bull when they do that
Can't wait for Juggernaut! This has been one of my favorite albums of the last couple years
Been doing heavy music for a long time.I used to hate when people sing in this genre. This is my new favorite band period... untouchable
I listen to this whenever I need to get those creative djuices flowing xDD
listen to any song on the album at 1.5 or 2 speed, and you have Dragonforce. ESPECIALLY Luck As A Constant.
oh fuck,@30:00
Just found these guys out. Wow! I've been missing out.
The whole trilogy thing with Muramasa, Ragnarok and Masamune is so cool. Kinda reminds me of something Pink Floyd or Tool would do. I've said it so many times before but im gonna say it again, these guys are underrated as fuck.

I remember being so stoked when this album released. I had just graduated from highschool. Good times. Life is so boring now.
