- In this video I wanted to show you these speakers from Edifier that I got a while back and have been enjoying! These are powered speakers, so they are an all in one setup (No separate amp, everything is included). I really like that they have optical and bluetooth inputs and they just sound great! I highly recommend them! I hope you find this video helpful. Please leave a like if you enjoyed it! All Links can be found below!

If all tech reviews were straight to the point like this one the world would be a better place man. Cheers!
I can definitely tell you these monitors are Amazing! I had mine for almost a year, and still standing strong. Great video man! 😃👍🏽
Hey I'm thinking about getting these for my mom that wants a good wireless speaker just to listen to music in the house. She just doesn't like the hassle of wires. Would these be good?
Do they hiss? How about from a meter away? Thanks!
@@TheAceReviews no they don't, they sound very amazing actually. The bass blew my mind being how little these are. I'd highly recommend these
Been ;ooking to buy this, but I've seen reviews on amazon regarding bluetooth connectivity problems like stuttering or would just totally stop working after some months. Any related experience?
i dont mean to be off topic but does anybody know a way to log back into an instagram account..?
I stupidly lost the login password. I appreciate any assistance you can offer me.
Thank you for the review. Great that you allowed the speakers to be heard before your entire explanation. Usually a lot of people on RUclips talk endlessly about the whole thing and don't let you hear anything.
Outstanding review! Quick, simple and straight to the point. Ordered tonight.
Ben Luca Thank you for the awesome comment!
Short and to the point. Kudos on a great review.
Worked perfectly for me. Pulled them out of the box, ran the speaker cable between the two of them, plugged it in, click the volume button until the LED turn blue for Bluetooth, grabbed my iPad Pro and linked the Bluetooth easily, then started playing music. If you’re buying these for Bluetooth my suggestion would be that you get them from someplace where you can return them like Amazon, and then see if they connect to your mobile device or not. If they don’t then just send them back. I had no problem with my iPad Pro.
Great timing, re doing my office and was thinking about getting these... thanks for the review (also you saved me, I was going to get the Linnmon counter for my desktop until I saw your vid... thanks :)
I have these exact speakers connected to my TV via optical and my desktop via BT. Love them!! I also have the S1000MKII.
Is it great for tv?? How is it with dialogues?
You did a great review I am an audio specialist and your review was right to the point and very honest.
Thanks man totally want these for my set. That opening with how they sound really help man, thanks thanks.....👍
Just purchased mine on a good special can't wait! Solid review it really helped
The candle testing the outgoing sound wave pressure was so smart
I like this review, quick and not wasting time.
Great review Matt. I appreciate you providing the important info. I've been researching these for the past two weeks and am just about ready to pull the trigger. Have you used these with a subwoofer? Although I like a lot of bass, I listen mostly to country, classical, jazz, blues, rock, pop, etc. but not much synth, electronica or dub music. So it's hard to tell how they would handle a typical bass sound. Just interested in your thoughts.
Sorry bro! Its been a year since you posted this comment and I just saw it! Too many comments for me to keep up I guess. anyway, if you still cared, the low end is plenty powerful without a subwoofer, so I imagine a sub would get you more of a home theater type of sound. I am personally looking into getting one soon.
just bought mine via Amazon sale :) thanks for the review, great job!
Do they hiss? How about from a meter away? Thanks!
Thanks for starting the review with the audio test, some people review & don't even do an actual sound text
.........😬
That wasn’t actually a sound test. I took that shot, and then in post I deleted the audio from the camera and synced up the same song. So you are just hearing the song straight, not through the speakers.. So I guess I am one of those people 😂
Always cool to watch the cones vibrate....esp yellow kevlar ones...
Good sharing.stay safe
I was actuallly just looking at buying these and you uploaded this thanks! Just bought em :D
I think after watching this, i am going to purchase a pair! I just need something to jam out in a 10×20' room in my basement, that has some good low tone that doesn't compromise the clarity. Plus those woodgrain ones look sexy. They don't look like a $130 set of speakers at all. They are way cheaper than they look, and above all I pray they sound as good as they look. Thanks for the review you sold me on them! I appreciate it!
opinion on these?
I went with the R1850DB.... Can't wait to try them out
nice review man, really detailed... i must have this one soon...
Fantastic review!!! U hv got a new subscriber!! What bineural mic or what mic u used to record the first few secs demo?? Usually for most of the reviews on RUclips you have to skip skip n look for the speaker demo...but u gave it away at the first...giving a viewer what they want...n those who are further interested then comes the specs and review part...crisp n short...covering all points...saving time!! Nicely done!! Thank you!!
Thank you Mattie for confirming that the Edifier R1280T (which I have) are the exact same speakers as the R1280DB except that the R1280T don't have the optical, coax inputs & no Bluetooth access. I found the R1280T a lil too "bassy" & it kinda masked the midrange a bit but going to play with the Bass control & cut back a bit to see if I can get a more "balanced sound'?
This is how reviews should be done
Thank you! That is really encouraging!
I just found out about Edifier. Looks like they have some great stuff. The Luna eclipse are sick!
The best audio system from Edifier is S760D the 5.1, has the power to shake your entire house, huge subwoofer with 10 inch sub and 2 pasive radiator's, and the speakers... no coment awesome. I use the system with sound blaster ZXR the soundcard and is amazing. The S730 was great aswell but i think they don't make the system anymore.
Great review! Thanks for a down to earth.....no hype review!
Thanks I was getting a Sony turntable and was looking for something with both RCA and bluetooth powered speakers! Couldn't find any photos of the back to make sure it wasn't just bluetooth
Sweet! Im glad my video helped!
The 1280t represents much better value with identical sound but fewer features. If all you want them for is desktop use with a PC then they are ideal. Desktop speakers don't need Bluetooth or an internal DAC. For even better sound pair them with a small external DAC such as a Topping E30.
Aside from the bluetooth, the db also comes with digital optical/coaxial which helps when connecting to TVs, and they also have a 55Hz lowest frequency response vs 75Hz on the t model, which does add better lows
A DAC can be beneficial in desktop speakers to reduce the noise floor and jitter if they are problems. Pretty sure the DAC in 1280DB is for Bluetooth. For my purpose, 1280DB is better. I'm connecting 4th Gen HDMI Chromecast with Google TV to an ASUS VS248H-P monitor. Then in Chromecast settings can switch between Bluetooth speakers and Bluetooth headphones, bypassing the need to hook up the 3.5 mm jack from the monitor to the speakers.
Look great wow 6k congrats man
Thanks Josh!
Nice desk and these monitors are the perfect complement
Love the content , you just made a new subscriber !!!
Great review! This video made me grab them. Got the all black👍
Do they hiss? How about from a meter away? Thanks!
@@TheAceReviews not at all
@@meroloc Thank you!
I have these set up with my record player. I love them.
K T do these just plug into your turntable or do you need an extra adapter ?
Dbeat Master no adapter needed with the record player. It comes with the splitter already
K T cool ! I thought I needed something else cause I just want to plug in and listen lol. My Turntable has a preamp built in already.
Xavier Flavor yeah mine took about 2 weeks to really break in but I don’t know if that’s normal.
Nice quick review 👍👍
ok i want to get these but i cant get over how he said monitor every time he said something about them
why? they are called studio monitors search it up
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Studio_monitor
@@tizzy3899 oh ok
Don't worry, these are not real monitors. They'r very nice speakers for listening to music, but they're not in any possible way flat enough to be considered monitors for music production.
Got mine 2 months ago... I love them
Do they hiss? How about from a meter away? Thanks!
@@TheAceReviews I use them with behringer umc22 u-phoria interface.
As almost every speaker, I hear a hiss when I put both volumes at 100%, but the hiss is hone when I lower it to like 95%.
A friend was suprised how quiet they are.
Nice review thank you man!
Oh you're the IKEA desk guy that video was cool
Thanks for clarifying that this is NOT for mixing music. Does R1280T a studio monitor for mixing though?
Good review. I plan on getting these.
Thanks for the video. But you did miss saying that the 12890T are NOT Bluetooth.
i hope you get to 100k subs before this year ends
according to edifier there is a few differences between the quality of the r1280T and these speakers.
the input sensitivity is slightly better with these and that is one of the reasons it is more. thee woofer is also slightly bigger.
Hey, love the review, you mentioned that these won't mix multiple inputs. Wondering if you could recommend a set of speakers in this size (or smaller) and in the $250 or less pricepoint that would allow input mixing specifically bluetooth and optical (or BT and RCA/aux).
I think I’m gonna buy these to hook up to a record player😃
How'd it go? I'm thinking about doing the same thing (and what record player, if you're willing)
@@rainbowpanic5632 I bought these but in the brown version, and it’s all great. I got the at-lp60x and it sounds really dope on vinyl !
@@okayalex Oh great! That's the exact record player I was going to get too, so that's perfect! Thanks for taking the time to respond :D
Great review but why do they call it monitors?
Hi can this speaker monitor can use for MacBook Pro? Pls reply
Very helpful! Thank you!
I’m thinking of getting some for Christmas
Getting mine this week
that hole is not bass port, thats just breather which can be put anywhere depending on the engineering. it doesnt matter where its put
It’s called a bass replex 😆
@@christopherpaloma5628 yea i realised later on, its bass reflex port and it does makes a difference
Thanks for your reviewing! Please tell me if you are interested in reviewing other products.
Great review thanks! But I still have the questions: Can you turn it on and off with the remote? Why is then the power switch on the back?
sir about line 2 of your speaker. can i connect the other active speaker on that line? like for example. the 1st line were connected from my laptop output and i want to series another active speaker on it via 2nd line. is it possible on that device? this is my first time to saw an active speaker like that. i saw most of the time were large active speaker that can connect together in series via input and output from the back of the speaker.
I just bought it, to use in my record player. Just waiting arrive
you said these are the almost the same as the 1280T but with less features, but I noticed the 1280t has less of a range..like 75-18 whereas these are 55hz-20kHz. Does that diff in range really make a noticable diff? If i dont care for the bluetooth feature ad will only plug them to my pc, should I just the 1280T?
Thanks
Are they good for nearfield studio monitoring? Nice review.
It would have been great if it had subwoofer out.
Check out the new R1280DBs models. They now do have the subwoofer input plus they upgraded the connectivity to bluetooth function. They are $139 on Amazon.
is this speaker better than edifier mr4?
@Matt's Tech & Vlogs I would really like to try these out I have, but I have read so much on the bluetooth either not working or giving out after a few month's. BTW I love your Desk Where did you get it? If you do not mind me asking
Im waiting on mine to come from shipping 💯
Cheaper model is sans DAC, that's all. Can be added if needed in line from digital to rca. .
That's a slick computer desk. Where did you get it?
R1700BT vs R1280DBs which is better sound ?
Just plugged these up and getting static from one speaker. Bluetooth works fine, record player not much. Wire issue?
he do be back
What's the size of those monitors? Trying to figure out how it would look on my desk.
On his version, I don't see the Subwoofer out connection. In the picture of the store where I want to buy these you can see a sub out, because I need to connect my subwoofer from my S530D with these ones (one of the old speakers has a defective mid range speaker) Was there a refresh recently? Or is that the difference between the R1280DB vs R1280DBs ?
I am buying the AT LP60XBT and was wondering if I should get the Edifier R1280DBs versus Edifier R1280DB? There’s a $10 difference and couldn’t decide which speakers would be best
I have a vinyl player that has built in speakers, if I hook these up do you know will it turn off the internal speakers on the vinyl player? The player has RCA output connections to hook up external speakers
Great Video
I want to buy this speaker to use for my computer and my record player, like when I'm on my computer connected to that with cables and when I want to listen to my vinyl's connected with Bluetooth, can listen to vinyl with Bluetooth while the speaker connected to the computer or I got to disconnect the speaker form my computer?
Why do you call them monitors the whole time? Aren't they speakers?
I plan on going from a Roku TV remote headphone out to the RCA jacks of the Edifier speakers. Does this sound possible to you?
Waiting my unit to arrive
I have those, they don't support 24 bit on coax or optical
Cool intro
Do these speakers have any Bluetooth sound delay/lag when people are talking on Netflix or RUclips?
Is that a sound demo in the begining or just audio ?
Can this be connected via bluetooth dongle
Very helpful
Been using these for years. Great. But I dont crank the BASS/TREBLE like that
have you tried gaming on it? if yes, how well did it perform? thank u :)
Thank you.
Is it better than the other 2.1 speaker of Edifier? Thank you
Helpful thanks
I wonder if it would also work well on my television? Any suggestions? Please help. 🤔
I guess these are near field, but what can be the maximum distance of the listener ??
yoooyoy thx bro. just wanna ask you if its worth for us to get the DBs model?
Just purchased
Watching this with my own r1280
Im a loyal sub and i really want to know as what do work so what is the Name of your job
Parlox I’m sorry, I would rather not say online exactly what my job is. But I am an electrician.
@@MattieKB good to know and thanks for your answer and keep up the good work
Can i connect these with a tv ?
is the intro sound really coming from the speaker?
No. It is the same song playing, synced up with the song playing in the video editor. The speakers sound great in person, but through my camera microphone they sound awful.
tnx...bro
Thank you
Are they loud enough to dance to?
2 questions 1 does it require an amplifier? Are these good for listening to heavy metal ?
No. Yes.
How do you use the optical input 🤔? Do I need two optical wires for each speaker? I was thinking of buying an Old cd changer which has an optical output.
Although there are two speakers, one of them actually has the amp inside of it, and the other is connected with wires that come in the box. So if you have a device with optical out, you only have to plug it into the main speaker and it will drive both.
Matt - a question if your'e able to answer/test for me please - if the mains power is turned off for them while they are 'on', when the mains power returns, do they automatically turn back on? or do you need to turn them back on using the remote?
Yes, I never use the remote. They will turn on just with the power switch.
@@MattieKB Awesome thanks mate - I use a smart powerboard for my PC which has the monitors on them so I can power them off when away from the desk - want to be able to power the speakers that way too. You just earned yourself a sub :) cheers!
Q1: How exactly do you connect them ? My setup is a laptop and i wanna connect them via Bluetooth. I saw the main speaker has the power-outlet cable. But how do you power the 2nd speaker ?
Q2: Bruh.. wtf are those bezels on your monitors in 2020 ?
Q1: The actual amp is in the main speaker, then a small speaker wire runs to the other speaker. I believe the wire was at least 6 feet.
Q2: I got one new monitor with modern bezels, but now my monitors are mismatched! XD I need another one!
