Bought em yesterday. I was reading many reviews on different speakers for hours and it was almost impossible to choose. Unboxing right now. First impression is really good, I hope the sound will be decent. Will update later.
They are actually great, far better than I expected. The bass is great, high tones good as well. They're crazy good for this price imo. Also no weird weird sounds or tones coming out of boxes when they're off. Lots of cheaper speaker sets got those issues. So it's great these didn't have such issues. I'm really happy I chose these. Hey - we're just checking out GREAT new speakers. Buy them or not, it makes no difference to us. But wow, these are great for the price. We're all really happy with them. Sorry if you didn't like our review.
Sorry, all the hype seems is focus on the loudness and bass, not the quality. The sound quality is still a 'computer' speaker quality, just like other computer speaker, they sound like its coming out from a box, something is just blocking the sound. Yeah, they are loud and strong on the bass, but that does not equal quality, its quantity. For a 100 bucks, you could get a Presonus Eris 3.5, its a studio monitor at around similar price, but big difference in sound quality and you dont even have to crank them loud, the sound is just so good, clean and clear (doesnt sound like coming from a box or like something ita blocking the sound especially if you listen to instruments) and you can immediately feel the sound stage coming from the middle as if the person is right in front of you. Its just such big difference... You can even try to watch the comparison by Digital Stereophony, even recorded on mic, its obvious (which normally isnt a good way to judge), experiencing in real person, the different its even much more obvious, you would not even consider anymore of these 'computer' quality sound speakers.
This is pretty funny commentary given that the Edifiers measure quite well on ASR (and can be made even better with some slight EQ) yet the Eris 3.5's measure like crap and are notoriously bad mixing monitors (with a huge smiley face frequency response).
@@thepope9076 as with all speakers, if you have only one you will only be hearing mono sound (only left, or only right). You need two speakers to have stereo sound. These really aren't that special. They're very OK. My Klipsch computer speakers have better range, because of the simple fact that they comes with a powered subwoofer. These Edifiers do not capture full range sound, because they physically can't. I've been using these for about a month, and even after optimizing the EQ on my PC, running them through a high end, isolated sound card, they are still just OK. Decently crisp on the high end, slightly muddy mid range, and no low end at all.
Your experience is not at all reflective of ours. Even today I had the R1280T's hooked up to an electric drum kit and couldn't believe how good the sound was. These things are beasts for this price point. I use them in the studio for all our video editing, as well as listening to music, and have absolutely no complaints.
The $200 set of Klipsch counter speakers that come with a subwoofer sounded better than these edifiers, they were what I was comparing them against. The mid and high frequency performance is similar, but the Edifiers really suffer without a subwoofer. I ended up switching to a pair of Klipsch Rp-150Ms ($300), a Klipsch r10sw 10" subwoofer ($250), and a $150 Yamaha analog stereo amp (R-S202BL) I bought on Amazon. Total is about $650, and basically it sounds perfect. Basically if you need decent speakers to put out sound, the Edifiers do the job really well for $100 speakers, but overall the sound quality is not spectacular. But for the generation of folks that consume all of their music as mp3s, and have only done so with earbuds or gamer headphones, they will likely be blissfully unaware of what they're missing.
Chris H. Chris H. You just compared a $650 set up to a $100 set up. That’s like saying yeah the Honda Civic is fine for the price but really lacks in horsepower, I have a Porsche 911 carrera that is way faster than your civic...
After trying both the Edifier 1280T and the 1800TIII, I can tell you that the 1280T has the perfect sweet spot. More than enough bass without sounding muddy and much clearer generally to my ears as a classical pianist.
A pair of speakers, 2 guys, and the BEST SPEAKER REVIEW I have seen in awhile! These 2 guys are just having fun and their review just make you want to buy this Edifier. Well, I am going to buy this now! Thank God, I watched this video because I was going to buy either a Creative Labs T100 or Creative Labs T40. But, something told me to look at YT one more time and this is what I found! Thanks guys!
These speakers sounded better than a pair of JBLs that cost upwards of $200 and have a 5 inch speaker. What I noticed was the sound was richer and like it was coming in from multiple directions and felt natural. The JBL felt punchier and felt like they were coming in from a smaller area and thus felt flatter.
BEST review I've seen in ages, Outstanding! Scooted over to Best Buy and scored a pair of these ... for less than I'd pay for a decent set of headphones. Wow.
Holy crap!!! Those speakers are amazing!! My mother got me the Audio-Technica AT-LP120XUSB Direct-Drive Turntable for Christmas and gave it to me early. She then ordered these speakers for me. Because of your demonstration, I'm VERY excited to listen to my record collection in rich, incredible sound. Great video!!
love how much you enjoy touching the moving woofer cones as much as you are good with the review mate.... you know the how to celebrate the speaker invention... good review
This is the best review I’ve seen in a while! I’m so tired of looking through videos only to have to wait (for what seems like a minute) to get through their generic logo opener pre-video only to be bombarded by generic techno music throughout the “review.”
Yeah, nice speakers I actually have them for about 2 months now. In most cases they sound relatively good but sometimes I really miss the low freqs from my last 2+1. I actually ran a test and there is some kind of resonance around 200Hz and there is nothing below 45-48 Hz, but with that 4 in speaker thats just it. Other than this they sound really nice and look very good to my liking. All I would do is add a sub woofer some day :D
You need the R1850DB because it has sub pre-out. You can hook it up with an active subwoofer if you need more thump. But for me these speakers already sounded fuller.
@@SandeepNagarkoti Setting the bass at the middle is the great setting for all genre and a slight boost on the treble (3 o'clock) setting because R1280 on stock setting or in middle setting lacks treble.

Impressive product for the money. But I wondered about the brand. So according to wikipedia, Edifier is a Chinese company founded over 20 years ago and quickly grew to dominance in their domestic market. Fun fact: they acquired STAX in 2011.
I'm from China. I loved Hi-Fi since I was a kid following my dad's lead. Edifier is not a Hi-Fi brand, but they have been focused on these speakers with AMP built in since the 90s. It's true they are a leader in the Chinese market.
Tried the Audioengine A1 and personally I think the sound quality doesn't match its reputation. I'm not sure how long I'm going to stay in the US. Otherwise I definitely will by a pair of Ediffer's speakers. I miss China for that you can buy great electronic products from local brands for very very reasonable price.

I compared it first to a $200 setup. These speakers are not bad, more like very OK. Without a dedicated sub, it is pretty lifeless.
this is like a QVC show.... wtf.
🌈
I'd stick to the Dayton B652 air.. the cost half the price and sound much better
Why is that guy sooo rude?
A tech show that can't clean up their audio.
aw
skip to 8:15 ish to avoid the americans doing what they do best, dragging out videos

best sound recording i've heard of a speaker being recorded and then shared on youtube. thank you for this high quality production
Thanks so much. Glad you appreciated (and hopefully benefited) from our effort. Please sub :) Cheers!
Sounds like some massive sound out of little speakers. :-)
Aww, thanks so much Tony! I'm glad you had fun along with us! Enjoy the speakers.
Wow.
Thanks! Hope you love 'em as much as we do! Let us know how it goes!
Thanks! Can't wait to "hear" an update how you live them. Mine are now connected to my turntable as well. Beautiful!
How is the bass?
@@LukaM It’s excellent! For $99, these are stellar.
I was watching reviews all day about them trying to decide if i'll take them. I'm sold after this video :)
love how much you enjoy touching the moving woofer cones as much as you are good with the review mate.... you know the how to celebrate the speaker invention... good review
This is the best review I’ve seen in a while! I’m so tired of looking through videos only to have to wait (for what seems like a minute) to get through their generic logo opener pre-video only to be bombarded by generic techno music throughout the “review.”
That's very kind, thank you Aaron. I hope you subscribed, and I hope you enjoy the content we bring out each week.
I have 1 coming tomorrow, thank you for the detailed high quality review
Enjoy! We'd love to hear how you like them. Thanks for watching!
But for me these speakers already sounded fuller.
what should I set the bass and treble positions in R1280t? Is there any combination that works for all the genres?
@@SandeepNagarkoti Setting the bass at the middle is the great setting for all genre and a slight boost on the treble (3 o'clock) setting because R1280 on stock setting or in middle setting lacks treble.
My Logitech speakers just died today, and i will buy these! What a price!Logitech is much more expensive. And the old were rubbish.
Man I'm on Amazon trying to figure out if I should get these speakers and ended up liking these guys so much I watched the whole thing. Great video.
Aww thanks so much!
Base blowing his hair made my day! LOL! Amazing review. Looking forward to more.
Samuel Sawian thanks :)
Could you please tell me the name of the track at 10:39
there is no track..its end of video
I always have sound quality problem with edifier, they never produced completed one, almost all of they products is not perfect, some has midrange problem, some week base, some week tweeter, I never suggest to buy them , spent more money on other brand
I like the fact that they’re a mirrored pair. Very clever with the binaural setup!
Aaaaaaaaand I just ordered myself a set. OK, the Bluetooth version because it also has a digital in, but it should sound the same.
I miss China for that you can buy great electronic products from local brands for very very reasonable price.
they dominate non japanese market in southeast asia
Edifier is a Chinese based company. I don't support Dictatorships if I can help it TYVM.
@@RawLu. lol
I just ordered one after watching your amazing review~~~i'm so exciting^^ Big Thanks from S.Korea
Enjoy your new speakers! We're still loving them.
The sound and the build quality are good for me. My concern is the durability , can they last a couple of years ? Thank you for your testimony.
you should upgrade your mic
make you sound like you are speaking into a pail
Sounds amazing... Ineffable . I can totally understand those guys excitement. You guys played a very nice track for the demo. May I know the track please.
apparently you may not
@@outsidethepyramid 😂💀
Are these typical pc speakers, or are they fit to be in a living room??.
This was the most fun unboxing and review video I've ever seen!
Aww, thanks!!!
@@LinuxTechShow I browsed through your channel. While it's good your uploads are an hour long and I bet I will enjoy them to bits, please upload some shorts, based on topic coverage. They will help bring in more viewers and improve visibility as well.
Subscribed. 🙏
If you care more about how the speakers look than how they sound, I don't think I should be taking advice from you.
Sold! Thank you, I needed some speakers so I could upgrade to the newer turntable I purchased last year. Finally pulled the trigger on these, thanks for making up my mind. 🔥😁
