Same me, I would also choose the R1700BTS based on your sound samples. The mids and highs are significantly clearer, although the R1280TS looks better for my taste; but in this case function over looks.
Hey, I remember watching yours videos on sim racing wheels, and now I find your channel once again but now for the speakers I bought. Funny coincidence. And the videos are still great! :)
Best to use a headphone when you listen to the sound comparison. Without a headphone it feels like the R1700BTS sounds better but with when you listen with a headphone, both of the speakers sounds nice but you'd notice that the R1700BTS will have an exaggerated bass and the the sounds of all spectrum seems to not be balanced whereas the 1280TS seems to have a better balance of sounds throughout the spectrums.
I appreciate your style and the good amount of specs in the presentation. The sound test was not concludent in my opinion, something was happened with your audio source. I bought few days ago the 1700 bt and i can say they didn't have distortion under 80%. The tricky part is with audio source: i keep my audio source to max 75% and increase volume from speakers. If i do 100% in audio source they go to distortion much faster and at lower volume. Overall they sound very good for the price, rich, clear and with enough bass for a normal audition. Also if you want extra bass, you can get edifier t5 sub for 100$ and complete your sound.
@@KnowledgeSharingTech R1700BTs is awesome bookshelf speaker , though I will like to add Edifier T5 sub with it (very good combo) or other good option is edifier S350db for 2.1 R1850db has very weak subout.

You are using 1700bts mainly for tv. So do you using any other speaker for music listening purpose ? Do you think Edifier r1280t/r1280dbs is better option for music listening? Thank you
Well I listen to music on my R1700BTs with BT. They are better then the R1280xx. If you want the ultimate listening experience, try the G5000. I use them on my PC. ruclips.net/video/QraPm2yd5h4/видео.html

2:24 just a note: The 1700BTs(and other variations) are actually 33W x2, the woofers are 18W x2 and the tweeters are 15W x2
