We take a look around the Bangkok highlights on this excursion called 'The Best of Bangkok'. Did it live up to the title? We explore the Grand Palace, Wat Arun (The Temple of Dawn), Wat Pho and take a boat ride down the Chao Phraya river. We share tips and hints on dress codes and currency. We give information and prices on other excursions offered by Marella Discovery 2 on this itinerary.

Mary it was tough with all those crowds but it was amazing. Glad I did it but once was enough for me. We are on our way to Honfleur on Ambassador Ambition today. The cocktails have started!!

Great video. Good music to accompany the footage. I love the way you speed up and slow down the footage at times. Well captured footage, made us feel like we were there.

Great video! I loved our Best of Bangkok tour. The last time we visited Bangkok was 40 years ago for our honeymoon.
I agree that it's very disappointing to see so much pollution but hopefully the Ocean Cleanup Project launched on the Chao Phraya river will have a positive impact.🤞

Hopefully, Interceptor 019 will make a difference to the pollution. The Best of Bangkok was a great excursion. I saw Andy and Kirsty went on the The Temples and Thai Cuisine tour but didn't seem too impressed with it. Looks like we made the right choice! 😀👍

Loved this video - So well made - Your trip had a real focus on the temples and they are just beautiful places. It’s a place to go back to for us …. We really loved its culture……Really nice video …Just awesome

Wow, looked a busy excursion. So much to take in. That first temple that you visited reminded me about the time we went on a tour of the Vatican. It was so packed, you were herded through like cattle. didn`t see half of it. You couldn`t stop to take stock, you was just carried along with the crowd.

It was very busy at certain pinch points. That was also our experience of the Vatican and the Hermitage in St Petersburg. Cruise excursions have limitations. Many of these places deserved a whole day of exploration rather than a whistle-stop tour. Thanks for watching 👍

I've been to several places in Southeast Asia and the only place that I wouldn't mind returning to is Singapore. I live in Western Australia so these places are quite close to us. Seeing the big buddha brought back memories. I've only just found your channel.

So glad you have found us! Welcome to our little channel 😀 Singapore was probably our favourite place on this cruise. We have yet to edit our Singapore videos, so keep an eye out for them. Thanks for watching 👍

When we went in 2020 we did one which included the flower market , temple included lunch ,

The flower market sounds good. It would have broken up the temples a bit! Thanks again for watching and commenting 👍

I first visited Bangkok in the 1960s as a toddler with my parents. The royal palace has probably changed the leadt😂. I returned to Bangkok in the seventies and eighties and 90s and most recently the mid naughtiest.
Great to see that you enjoyed it too.🎉🎉

Looks amazing ...almost booked this cruise but ended up doing the Canaries instead... I think the Hussle would have been a bit much for us, but love the D2...Back on here soon ...👍

The Discovery ships are great. Lisa is not a fan of crowds, but she felt it was worth it. Thanks for watching. Our Westipoo sends her regards to yours.

Another great video. You really “nailed” the accompanying background music as well. Lovely gesture of the lady to loan Lisa her cardigan, but surprised to subsequently see it on Lisa’s e-bay sales account 😂

Another RUclips channel ("Andy & Kirstie") seems to be another British couple on the same cruise you took. Interesting seeing both perspectives.

We watched their video tonight as well. They did a slightly different itinerary. It is very interesting to see the perspective of other people. Cooks Explore are another channel who did this cruise as well. Thanks for watching. It is much appreciated 👍

Geat vid and many thanks for posting, just one question did the Marella trip include a guide?

    • @TravellingLightLisa
      @TravellingLightLisa  5 месяцев назад +1

Great question. Yes, even on the 'On your own' trips there is a guide. They give a commentary and general information on the country during the journey and give you contact numbers should you get lost. The guides on the escorted tours take you around and you follow the flags. There were no earpieces with audio commentary from the guides on these trips, so you had to stay close to catch any pearls of wisdom or fascinating facts. Thanks for watching 👍
