    When President Obama came to Thailand officially and had only one day to tour a temple, the American Embassy recommended Wat Pho due to a few reasons. It has stunningly beautiful reclining Buddha. It is the temple that King Rama III decreed all Thai knowledge inscribed on stone here including Thai traditional medicine and massage, and thus born the famous Thai massage till today. King Rama III was known as Merchant Prince when he was yet to ascend the throne and requested Chinese junk merchants to bring junk stabilizers in the form of Chinese stone deities/mystical beasts to decorate in Wat Pho and Wat Arun. You might not know that your 200 baht entry fee contributes greatly to Wat Pho's restoration/renovation over the years. I visited Wat Pho as a kid 60 years ago and it was in a dilapidated condition, not even 1/10 as beautiful as today.

    Yet another banger! Wat's This. That was a 100% legit message from Mark... Personally I enjoy Arun to Pho, but both are amazing. However neither come close to the grand palace, which is my favorite in BKK and probably the best deal in the city given everything that is included in entry.

    FYI
    If you visit #12, you can also go to Wang lung, Ta pra Athit and Khao san road too. Since there're not far from each other.
    There's a musuem you could visit closed to wat arun, called 'Museum Siam' . I like to visit there personally. Well, good place to avoid the heat since there's AC.
    And Lastly, Recently many tourist love to rent Thai traditional attire and wear it to go around this area. Take photos. You can find colth rental shop nearby. I saw many youtuber doing a review about it.
    Hope you all have a good time here in Thailand 😊
    And thank you, Chris for helping promote places.

    In fact, the pagoda at Golden mountain Temple ( Wat Phu Khao Thong ) is the same pagoda as Wat Arun or Arun Temple. But is much larger in size but because of its very large weight And built near the canal causing the timber foundation and sticky soil to not support the weight, causing a collapse in the middle Later, it was abandoned for a while. before changing to the current one

Was a large piece of orange cloth material around the entire temple. what many had signed their name, including me :) was in 2012. I don't think it is anymore after a long period of maintenance on the temple up in the height.

    Sidenote on pronunciation of Thai transcription, especially official place names using the Royal Thai General System of Transcription (RTGS); the "h" after a vowel only signifies aspiration.
    A good example would be using the Korean alphabet to demonstrate. For example, P and Ph; Po would be 뽀 or 뻐, and Pho would be 포 or 퍼

    Love these temples. We didn’t get time to spend in Wat Pho much last time so we are going this time. Since our son is 10 now, he is requesting for us to see the grand palace again too, he’s keen on the emerald Buddha and the last time we went that part was closed, lol hope it’s open this time! Doing Wat Arun too since he was so young before, he doesn’t remember much of it. He does remember the giant reclining Buddha somewhat. He has to share this all with his class so we will probably do a video specially for his class. If I may ask, what application do you use to edit videos with? Thank you for sharing your amazing adventures with us.

    Good idea combining Wat Pho and Wat Arun into one video! In my opinion, if this is your first time to Bangkok, skip the Grand Palace. The temple at Grand Palace has some historical significance but it’s overpriced and crowded. Wat Pho is a must for a first time visitor. The boat trip to Wat Arun is cool too. If you feel like you’ve seen too many temples, you can just walk in the garden around the temple for free.

    • @stephs1476
      @stephs1476 Год назад +1

      I would never recommend skipping the grand palace. It isn’t expensive.. and the ticket also includes Wat pho plus they give a bottled water with it. It’s less than $15 USD. To get into both. There is also a museum at the Grand Palace area also included. My husband is Thai so he gets in free but we don’t mind paying for me and our son. Well worth it and it’s a Must do on your first time to Bangkok. Bad advice to skip it.

    If you are in Bangkok only for a few days and you want to make the most of the experience, don't do the taxi. Take the BTS to Saphan Taksin and then the Ferry for a beautiful and cheap tour of the Cha Pharaya river. It will add half an hour to the trip from Sukhumvit but totally worth it. Start early at what I guess is number 11, the Royal Palace. Have lunch and then go to the reclining Buddha temple and then cross the river to Wat Arun. You will deserve the massage in the afternoon.

    Dropping coins into the monk's bowls is fun for children, but for grown up people is kinda light meditation. You calm yourself and focus while dropping coin one by one and trying to realize every step of it from beginning to end such as pick up a coin, releasing a coin, hearing sound of coin impacts to the bowl. It's good for you brain and mind.
