Another Banger of a video! You know I love the Grand Palace, and your video knocked it out of the park, brother! If you ever want to visit again and get an inside track on some of the art, let Jib know she will be your guide. I would like to add one bit of info for your viewers the already low priced ticket of 500 baht also includes entry to the Queen Sirikit Textile musueme as well as a shortened Khon Performance at the Sala Royal Theater, they even have a trolly to bring you to the theater from the palace, all included in the ticket price.
Ah the Grand Palace is truly spectacular. In 2019 when I was in Bangkok it was closed to visitors at the time due to the ceremonies for the coronation of King Rama X. So I had to stay extra 2 days than originally planned in Bangkok so I can visit it and actually managed to combine it with number 12 in a single day :) Bangkok got so much to offer and if you include day trips in the area you can easily make top 50. It's so admirable the efforts of Thai society to preserve and honour their tradition, cultural and architectural heritage. Great entry though in my list is in top 5 to be honest :)
In Java if they build like this palace, it will be collapse after earthquake, look at Keraton Kaibon palace just a ruins, that why the palace in Java and sumatra more shorter, and because under colonization, many palace are destroyed and no developed like in Thailand, same like Javanese and Malay counsin in Champa today central vietnam, only palace and temple ruins
Hi Chris, I don't want to know what the list was so wont research it, I am just happy to watch your list because the Community you have grown is all because of the content you produce. The Thais will always get my respect because they are the most welcoming people in the World, cannot do enough for you and make our visits, the experience we have. But, I also have respect for the R4WY Team, because through the pandemic, you enticed us with what we couldn't have but more than that, you kept the hunger for returning to Thailand burning in each one of us. Thank You
Jeroen must be proud of your correct pronunciation of his name! 🇳🇱 The palace is a must visit, just watch out for scams/expensive tuktuk rides around the palace if you're visiting! 🙂
Still i am amazed there are so few people still, last time i toured the place was to show it to my son, there where thousands of visitors, on our way back to our hotel on an exceptionally hot day, my GF wanted to take a tuk tuk, i told her they would try to scam us, but she wanted to try it, we never got scammed, in the midst of Bangkok city traffic our son, 8 years at that time, fell a sleep in a tornado of sounds and fumes, the driver would not wake him and we arrived fairly quickly at our Hotel Chatrium at the river, i was impressed by the driver that he took it so nonchalantly and he did not get any commission from the shops he wanted us to see, that i gave him 1000 Bath, the next days we had a personally driver to see the parts of Bangkok you seldom see.👍
Been here sometimes, first time in 2008 but a few times after this too. But have never been on the inside wall like you did here. I was in Thailand when Bhumibol Adulyadej, Rama IX av Thailand the king died, it was a strange and special experience where I saw how Thai people reacted strongly, so they cried in the open street when the news that their king had passed away.
Last time I was in Bangkok I arrived too late. This year I will go. Man, if this is only #11 I can't wait to see the first 10. What a beautiful country!!!
My guess for top 10: 1. The people (if we are saying what are the best things about Bangkok, and this holds true for Thailand generally) 2. Bike tour/street art 3. Floating market 4. Chattachak market 5. Herping (looking for snakes) … or Soi Cowboy/Nana Plaza 6. Green Lung 7. Or Tor Kor market … or a boat taxi/river cruise 8. Benjakitti park 9. Lumpini Park 10. Thai massage An equal #1 would be the pay it forward videos 😊❤ If going slightly outside Bangkok I’d add an elephant sanctuary and Ayuttaya to the list So many, hard to pick a top 10! Excited to see your top 10!
Just cannot wait for the top 10 Baby! This list is so amazing. Keep up with the humour as well as life cannot be that serious. Please do a recap first of the earlier countdown before the last 10.
Hey Chris, Rick & Rocky here, big fans of RW4Y and part-year residents of Thailand. To your challenge, here's our guess at the top 10, admittedly biased to our own faves! 1: Chatuchuk weekend market, also hit JJ Mall (walk north) and Or Tor Kor Market (walk south) at the same time 2: Damnoen Saduak Floating Market, touristy but fun, or Kwan Riam Floating Market closer to town near Ramkamhaeng Road 3: Pratunam Market (also “Platinum” Fashion Mall across Petchaburi Road, on the “CentralWorld side." See Erawan Shrine if coming by BTS 4: Klong Toey fresh market 5: Wang Lang Market, hang out on the pier, feed the fish 6: Soi Cowboy and Nana Plaza (soi 4) - party like the expats, not as touristy as Patpong 7: Safari World, Khlong Sam Wa 8: Lumpini Park 9: Thai Massage - anywhere but some friendly and fun shops are on soi 23 just up the street from Cowboy 10: Boat Trip north along the Chao Phraya with multiple stops, klong tour, Icon Siam, get off and on anywhere for one cheap fare
Geat video, I've been watching since the 1st episode and I look forward to another video everyday haha, I payed for a tour guide over there because I thought it would be great to have someone explain to me the history as I was completely clueless about it, it's such a beautiful place!
It's a must see... The paintings on the walls tell a great story. Amazing hours are spent here easily. Hawker central. Spents days around this area. Cross the river, Khao San road around corner, lumpini stadium nearby. Fantastic work team. Flights booked April after discharge from ADF! 🌶️🌶️🇹🇭🇭🇲🍻🇭🇲🇹🇭🌶️🌶️ Big B
Nearby that area is Rajdamnern stadium. Lumpini stadium that used to be near Lumpini park has moved to Ramindra near Don Muang Airport. Thanks for visiting.
Do you really live in Bangkok Chris, and you have not been to the Grand Palace! Amazing place got to go at least once. It's in my top five must do in Bangkok. Lookf forward to your top five.
My guess for your top 10 lists are 1. Chatuchak Weekend Market 2. Floating Market 3. Wang Lang Market 4. Klong Toey Market 5. Pratunam Market 6. MBK Shopping Center 7. Or Tor Kor Market 8. Dusit Zoo 9. Lumpini Park 10. Thai Massage. Thanks for your videos.
I'm Thai. All Thai people welcome tourists of all nationalities and religions, no matter who you are, where you come from, if you come to travel with quality, respect Thai people, respect Thailand. Thai people will help each other to maintain the good trust of tourists. Help each other to provide good service to tourists in a friendly manner. Smile, cheerful, peaceful, safe, clean, equal for all classes. Thailand also has many interesting places to explore. Suitable for tourists of all levels of your hopes. We can definitely welcome everyone with the best willingness for sure. But we can definitely welcome everyone with the best thi-survice. Thank you for visiting Thailand.

Great video. I will be in Bangkok next week and have been watching lots of videos. Thanks for not making me seasick watching yours. Over 50 years ago, my USAF father was stationed in Thailand. I'm visiting the places where he took photos and kindled my love of travel.
We are going ok the 23rd. Hope you finish the list before we go, or hope we bump into you while you are recording so we can ask the rest of the list! 😅
I arrived at BKK two and a half months ago wearing long pants and I've been in shorts since then. I'm not even 100% sure they're still tucked away in my suitcase. That said, you've made me want to go dig those pants out, or go buy more, because we're headed out to be pro tourists this week. I just wish that drone registration was quicker. My guess for the top 10? No idea, but I'm going to watch all of the videos to find out. Thanks again for another amazing video, sir.
Definitely looks like a place to visit when I get back over there. Can't believe it took you so long to see it but well worth the wait if Haelee gives it a 10.
I have no idea what your top ten list might be. The Grand Palace is #1 on most people's list. You should have mentioned that the MRT goes very close to the Grand Palace now, about a 5 minute walk. The tuk-tuks and taxis when leaving the palace are the worst.

The name of 12 gates around the grand palace are rhyme. Very asthetic if you visit there, ask the local to read it for you.
It is amazing that my wishes become true after doing a set of Buddhist rogations before the emeral buddha image.
