You have made my Advent season more memorable than ever. The first thing I do is put on your video with the wonderful music and photographs. Puts me in a wonderful mood. Then I swatch the Colorverse ink for the day, and I just feel so good. I had been worried last month about spending so much for it, but your videos have made the experience come alive for me.
Thank you Carol Anne 🙂 It makes me so happy to hear that you're enjoying these! They're not *always* a lot of fun to make, so these are the types of comments that keep me going!
I, too, was uninterested in grey until I started watching TWP and Colors & Stationary swatches and realized that there's an interesting variety of colors within the grey universe. This shade and tone looks very neutral; exactly what I would envision a light grey to look like. See you for tomorrow's door #4 😊.
Hello! This one looks almost identical to J. Herbin’s Gris Nuage. I enjoyed writing with it in November. For me the trick is to use white paper (not ivory) and a pen with good ink flow (for me, it’s Pelikan M200, F nib).
loved the formulatuon for this one! i feel like it was the exact grey i was missing in my collection. I've been doing daily drawings with my inks, and this ink works great with a paintbrush too, especially when diluted and then layered with lines from a dip pen!
I’m a big fan of grey inks, especially shading formulations. Your recent appreciation for these shades is puzzling, given the primary palette of Wet Pen branding…and Seattle skies. 🤔😎😆
Thanks! I always liked those photos because it's just so rare (for me) to see Joshua Trees in fog! Maybe it happens all the time, but I'd never seen it before.
Love the Anna’s Hummingbird cameo! Here in Portland we still have some flowers for them to feed from, but pretty soon it’ll be multiple feeder time. That grey is gorgeous! I love lighter grey, I love Diamine Silver Fox and Herbin Gris Nuage. Grey inks are a favorite, prefer the lighter shades to the dark.
Yes, they always start swarming my feeders this time of year, which I think is very fun. I've only recently learned that the local hummingbirds also eat stuff that is not nectar (insects, spiders, pollen, tree sap, etc). I imagine they'll be in a lot more videos, especially if it starts snowing.
@@thewetpen when I used to put out suet they would occasionally stab at it, and they love to pick apart spider webs for tasty leftovers and nesting material. I put out worms for the crows and songbirds; the hummingbirds are known to partake. I can’t wait to see how your grey ink turns out!
I like grey inks in general and use Pilot Iroshizuku Fuyu-Syogun frequently for notetaking. This one's a little on the light side, but looks lovely in the painting.
Look at you gettin’ your paint on. *eyes light up with dazzling stars* To be honest, this grey is a little light for me to use in a pen, however, I immediately thought painting with it would be a stunner. (Seriously.. get out of my head *laughs*) looks like great minds think alike *winks*
It was about 11pm last night when I decided to paint with it... not a great idea, from a time-management standpoint 🙂 I had to delete the video that I had uploaded and take a few pictures and then re-edit the video and upload it. Don't know why it grabbed me like it did, but I had fun. I'll be interested to see what you decide to paint with it 🙂
With greys I can happily go either way, but I really prefer warm browns to cool ones. The search for the perfect ink is a very noble one... good luck 🙂
Despite me having this same thing, it's not really until hearing you say "Today is December 3rd" that it really hit me that it's already December. Heh I wanted to love today's ink, but it looked a bit light. I know you're glad for the lack of shimmer, but if anything calls for shimmer, it's an ink called "Moonlit Veil". 😅
I really love grey inks, and own many. Some of my favourites are 3 oysters cool grey, Diamine Grey, Montblanc cool grey, Ink institute cat at midnight, Dominant industry Downpour, and Scribo Grigio scribo. I like this colorverse ink, but I'm not sure if it will be legible. I will try it in a wet and broad nib. Cool greys are my thing, wet and well lubricated. I look forward to see what you make.
It did seem pretty legible to me, with a broad nib, but a little darker would be better. I still don't own a single 3 Oysters ink.... that's something I'll have to rectify 🙂
Grey has always been one of my favorite colors. I'm really in love with this this ink. I'll have to pick up a bottle of this when the full bottles come out... They are coming out with bigger bottles of these colors? Or are they going to be exclusive to the calendar? Its always nice seeing your paintings and this grey really gives that foggy PNW morning vibe. Love it.
Yes, I agree... it's a lot like these past few mornings have been. Very foggy. Colorverse says that they'll release the 3 most popular of the inks as full-sized bottles (there's a QR code on the back of each calendar for personalized voting rights). But if they've already gone to the trouble of formulating these inks, I suspect that they'll make all of the ones that are really in demand.
@@Tea_Mist They'd be crazy no to. The only expensive part about making ink is the development process, and they've done that... seems crazy to leave money on the table by not selling them. But I guess the calendars are not cheap, and they may want to maintain demand for them with exclusivity.
@@thewetpen I love fountain pens and fountain pen inks and collecting them, but the amount of fomo in this hobby really breaks me sometimes. Well I hope I can at least find someone who is willing to sell their bottles they didn't like from the calendar. xD Oh well. Still though, that grey is a beauty. Can't wait for tomorrow's ink!
It looks like the doors have a name explanation? Or at least this one did. This looks like a nice grey. I have exactly one grey ink lol. I imagine making a grey isn't as easy as diluting a black.
Yep, all the doors have a name explanation. I'll try to show them all in the future. You're right about grey inks; they're not just dilute blacks... or at least, not the good ones, and they'll stay grey when put down heavily on paper.
@@thewetpen I hope that doesn't add a ton of work reshooting your broll! That said I wanted to add that I love how lovely and atmospheric you've made the videos :)
It is a nice shade and does represent a moonlit night but to use it for writing, I am not so sure. I would prefer something more vibrant which would defeat the idea of a moonlit night.
Yes, it is on the pale side for writing, but it dries down just enough that I find it to be pretty legible. I can't imagine that it would ever be my first choice, though. Fun for art, though.
I actually hate grey inks... and all pale blue kind of inks, except they have some spectacular shading. I don't know, these pale inks have a sadness in their nature. As if they want to be something, but can't do it.

Your art is lovely, especially in this ink color! I definitely love Moonlit Veil!
Thank you for all the work you put into your videos! It definitely shows, and I look forward to watching each of your productions.

Agree that greys can be tricky to find one that is dark enough to actually be useful, but still distinctly grey and not just a meh black.
Thanks so much for the beautiful drawing! I love grey inks, and Joshua Tree is just magical. Nicely done!
Thank you Jeanette :-)
Looking forward to the gray ink release!
Thanks! But I wouldn't hold your breath... my progress has been really slow with it 🙂
@@thewetpen No worries whatsoever! I'm happy to pick up whatever you feel proud and ready to release when the time comes :3
Lovely grey ink. I may have to get this one.

I started finding myself drawn to grey inks, too. It's a nice change from the colorful colors. I have Dominant Industries Downpour and like that.
Yes, and sometimes they're just very soothing on the eyes, and they can come in all sorts of different shades with different colors that separate out.
Just beautiful!
Lovely drawing of the cacti. Beautiful photographs as well.

Love your art and videos. 💜 And yes, I love grey inks.
Hey Roxie🙂 Thank you!
I like this grey but let's be honest, the starS of this show are those beautiful birds!! 🕊️
They really congregate on my balcony this time of year 🙂 Always fun to watch!
I love how you transform the ink colours in your art 🤩
Thanks Lynn 🙂
The factor I really appreciate about your videos is that giving Indian products a place with the world standards.❤
