If this calendar had been more affordable, I would have jumped on it immediately. Colorverse is my favorite ink brand, and I'm thankful I get to live opening them vicariously through you!
These calendars were definitely not cheap. I justified it by telling myself that Colorverse normally charges $15 for bottles of this size, so I'd be getting them at half price this way... but it's still pretty steep! I don't have a ton of Colorverse inks, so I don't know where they fit into my list of favorites, but I LOVE their space theme, and that really helps.
The beautiful glass bottles do make all the difference! With my tiny Diamine bottles, I usually swatch them and then never use them again... these I will want to handle and use.
Your videos have become part of my Christmas tradition. Thank you for putting the time and effort into making these wonderful videos. Looking forward to the rest of the series. Stay warm.
Yes, for me the Diamine inkvent Videos have become a Christmas tradition too and every year in December I am waiting for them to watch daily as if they themselves were the advent calendar - well in a way those videos are - they are my advent calendar. And though I always buy the Diamine one, as it is the cheaper one, I do agree about the glass bottles - they DO really make a difference - also for me! 😊
The Diamine Inkvent from two years ago was how I found your channel, when I started getting into fountain pens a little over a year and a half ago. I think I subscribed before you finished the calendar.
My favorite time of year, inkvent with The Wet Pen. Looking forward to seeing the videos. I started the Colorverse calendar in November because I was just needing some joy after hurricane burnout. Happy all the holidays.
Oh I'm so excited that you're doing the Colorverse Advent Calendar!!! I was looking at it in the shop hoping to find someone to do this one on youtube. Good to know that they use the glass bottles!
Thank you Matthew for doing these inkvent specials. It was this day last year when the algorithm suggested you to my feed, and I am so glad it did as I have enjoyed every video since. As far as I have seen on my feed you are the first one to review the Colorverse calendar and I am also happy about that as one of your compatriots is reviewing the Diamine Inkvent calendar and I get to see both. I am also a fan of the Colorverse glass bottles and the space theme. A very good pen friend of mine gifted me with samples of your impressive inks and I am working through each one to determine which ones I will order in the new year, if there are any left by then. Thanks again for all your videos!
It's my pleasure, and I'm glad to have you along for the journey 🙂 My inks are currently sold out, but I should have received my new empty bottles from the glass factory last month... so hopefully, I'll see them one of these days soon, and will be able to offer my inks again early in the new year. Thanks for taking the time to watch my videos!
What a beautiful color! So glad you’re doing an ink advent series this year - whether it’s Diamine or Colorverse. And, I’m hopeful there might be some ink drawings in the mix!?
I got my daughter the Inkvent Calendar and she gave me the Colorverse Calendar. We are doing daily test and swaps. We both prefer the Colorverse for day 1. We will be doing comparisons throughout the month. Love this video and am excited for day 2.
I agree...he does the best ink reviews on the planet...so I was hoping for the diamine ones also...colorverse doesn't even do day 25...and thats like the most special day!!!
I really enjoy the Diamine ones, too, but with the plastic bottles... I just never used them after I open them, and probably more importantly... there are too many inks that are full of glitter, and I just find that I don't use glittery inks. But, as I said... I may switch back to Diamine, depending on how this ones goes 🙂
@@technoraptor7778 When I was a kid, my parents or grandparents always gave me advent calendars to open, and they always stopped at 24, so I was surprised to see that Diamine had a 25th door. In that regard, I consider the Colorverse to be more traditional.
I'm so happy to see that you've got this calendar too! Looking forward to your videos. I think we won't avoid some pretty basic colors in this collection, like this red, but I'm hoping there will also be a mix of other fun inks.
Sadly I could not afford either calendar this year, but I'm really looking forward to watching your videos every day :) . This is a nice Christmasey red, but just isn't doing anything for me where I'm dying for a bottle. Unfortunate that they are only going to put 3 into full production though.
Yes, these things were not cheap, and they were really hard to find (by the time I decided on getting one). They say that they'll put 3 into production, but my guess is that they'll actually do more than that if there's demand. No ink company is going to leave money on the table if there's demand.
I love the visions of snowy trees. However this video reminded me of ink producers bottles that reflect the image of their business. Some are so nice as in this video I cannot bring myself to throwing them out (recycling) when empty. Am I not the only one?
I always keep ink bottles that I like :-) But I have so many bottles of ink, now, that I will probably never use up another bottle for the rest of my life 🙂
Thanks! When I was a kid, my grandparents had all of these awesome glass retro-astronaut ornaments from the 1950s on their tree, and so I always loved space-themed ornaments... although some of the ones that you see in this calendar were collected over the past month or so 🙂
I subscribed just so I can follow your inkvent journey and you're very right. The glass bottles do feel better in the hand. The red reminds me of Shaffer Skrip Red.
Hello, Matthew! I would like to thank you for everything you do on this channel. Your videos are so thought-through, full of sweet details and just beautifully made. Each video is pure enjoyment! Your channel is my favourite! I’m looking forward to the rest of the videos from this series Have a cosy December!
Oh wow! Now I know what I want to get for an Advent calendar in2025. Love those little glass bottles. So looking forward to watching the rest of your series this month!
I really like the ink. It reminds my of KWZ thief's red. It really does look like a neutral red. I'm really interested in this calendar because it costs a ton, but the last few Inkvents have been a bit hit or miss.
I feel the same way about Diamine's offerings for the past couple of years... probably great for people who like lots of glittery inks and more pinks than I tend to use, but I also just set those little plastic bottles aside and never want to use them because they feel so cheap. So far, this Colorverse seems like my kind of calendar.
YaHoo! A nice Super Giant Red which I thought, at first glance, was Sugar Plum. I must have The Holidays on my mind. 🧑🎄 Thank you for your Day One ink reveal. Best wishes.
I literally swooned when I opened the door as red is one of my favorite colors and this one being the epitome of ‘Christmas red’ (imho). Surprisingly, the ink dried almost a cranberry red on stalogy paper. (It’s not a stark difference but I noticed it) anyways- loved the video and can’t wait for tomorrow’s. Happy December 1st!
OMG! What a gorgeous video. Your visuals are great. If you don't mind me asking; how did you get permission to use the music, without a copyright strike? I'm looking forward to seeing the rest of the colorvent calendar. Also, I'm jealous over your Space Camp experience. I was; and still am; a space nerd.
Thanks Teresa 🙂 The music that I use comes from a variety of sources where I've either paid for a license or the music and performance are out of copyright. In this case, the Tchaikovsky music is out of copyright, and the performance was released for public use... I can't remember where this one came from... maybe the RUclips creators library! I'd have to double check. Otherwise, it came from Uppbeat. Space Camp was super cool, though my memory of it is not as crisp as it would have been if I had slept more than a handful of hours over the course of the week!
Is this the first year for Colorvent? I like the shade of the Supergiant. I have been looking for a vibrant red. I thought I found one with Diamine Red Seal but now, maybe this ink would be better. Is it a quick drying ink? I wonder if is available in the 65ml bottle.
Hey Paul 🙂 Yes, this is the first year for Colorvent. They're pricey... something like $180 for the calendar, and they were sold out pretty early in the US, but I luckily managed to get one with one of the companies that didn't allow pre-orders. The ink is about average, for dry time. Colorverse says that they'll select 3 of these inks and release them in larger bottles, and they're allowing people who purchase the calendars to vote on them to choose which 3 it will be.
Did you finally buy the lotus Shikhar with the Kanwrite #9 nib ? Or have you fitted the number nine from the mammoth into this lotus Shikhar? Any idea why there were hard starts and skipping? I am waiting eagerly for your woodex pens videos.
I did buy the Shikhar. In fact, I bought three of them last month, including the red one (which came from Makoba, with the #9 installed into a specially made section). Currently, I'm blaming the hard starts and skipping on the paper, which was very glossy. I've had the same problem with some other inks, too, where I've rested my hand on the paper. I'm looking forward to making the Woodex video, but it's still pretty deep in line right now... I have 3 regular pen videos to make first, and I probably won't make them until I finish the next 24 of these advent videos.
If this calendar had been more affordable, I would have jumped on it immediately. Colorverse is my favorite ink brand, and I'm thankful I get to live opening them vicariously through you!

Those mini bottles... They are even lovelier than whatever ink is offered in the package.
Stay warm.

Yes, it's new this year 🙂 Unfortunately, sold out of most places... I think that I finally got mine from Fountain Pen Revolution.

Yay! Glad the videos are back and looking forward to the Colorverse inks.
And it's great to have you back for them, Kate! 🙂 So far, I'm really enjoying these Colorverse inks.
We've been waiting for the video! My four year old son and I will be watching this tonight after we do our Diamine ink!
Glad to hear it! I thought about doing BOTH calendars this year, but just couldn't pull it off 🙂

Me too... the glass bottles are a big bonus 🙂
Yea! Thank you for taking time to do these videos! I really like Supergiant, and can't wait to see the rest.

The hard starting could depend by the pen/nib. I tested it in a TWSB Go with a medium nib on Tomoe and had no problems.
Yes, my assumption was that it was because the pen was brand new. I probably just needed to clean the nib properly.
I'm so happy to see that you've got this calendar too! Looking forward to your videos.
