My mum was that 5 year old Sara!! We just watched this at dinner together. She’s told us this story 100 times. ☺️ Hope we get to meet you one day Santa.
That's beautiful Wow! :) Lee's the best isn't he Such a gentleman
Please give her a big hug from me. ❤️
I was 11 (and the eldest) and I remember that concert so well, it was the best night of my life. I was so sorry I was out of the country and couldn’t meet you in Dublin again recently. Next time!! X
Your story is critically essential, to so many, at the perfect time. I hope you don't mind if I share.... thank you Mr. Sklar.
LESLIE LENTZ Would be happy if you share it. 👍🏻
Oh man, this channel just keeps getting better.
You are so right!
I've been following you for quite a while now, and am always entertained-but THIS WAS THE BEST EVER-thanks so much for posting and sharing...
Mr Sklar, it is so nice to get to know you much better than just the legendary great bass player that you are. Born in 1973, I literally grew up listening to you unconsciously. Stay safe and healthy. Love from Holland
In Nederland zijn we gek op hem
Come for the stories,
Stay for the humanity!
Thank you
When you showed *the train*, I think I got some dust in my eye or something.
As I continued to read Lee's story the room got so warm my eyes started to sweat.

I saw this video and seeing the responses by the family in discussion, Lee ... You are a true gentleman!!!
Great story. You're a good man, Mr. Sklar.
My favourite story from you in the last year was listening to it with my Thai daughter in Thailand. , I am now in UK waiting to go back to my Thai 👪 Take care Pete and gang
You are a great person. To play with Genesis, Phil Collins and all that music that you put out only serves to show how wonderful you truly are. This story only serves to prove that there is still hope in the country. Thank you for allowing us to see a side of humanity, that seems to be lacking in so many today. Hooray for you, "Santa".
👍This story is so sweet. Thanks for sharing. 🙏🎁💝
What a beautiful story from a beautiful humane being 🙏❤️🏴
Beautiful story. You know, world is full of wonderful people and stories. I think that is what we need to remember these days. Take care
So great, wonderful, thank you all !

The Santa of bass!!! Bringing us gifts of rhythm!! Thanks Lee!
"Santas helper" that's the best! It's like a true Christmas story...oh wait
Kindness costs nothing... but means so much. This story is so moving. Thank you for sharing.
Thank You so much for the years of playing bass ! You are the best ever!!! Stay well .THANKS ACE
Wonderful story... don't need no salacious backstage insider nonsense. This is soooo much better. Thanks again!
Beautiful, you make this world a better place. Light, Love and Peace to you all 💚🙏Namaste
I'm just crying. What a wonderful story.
Thank you Mr. Sklar
Mr Sklar, such a touching story! It's so insightful and delightful to hear your "on-the-road" stories, thank you!...Speaking of Glasgow, the legendary Steve Forman whom you've worked with, lives here. I've met him at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland where he teaches. His stories about the session man life are just like yours; both of you seem to be surrounded by a bright aura gained through a life of music...Very inspiring for the younger generations. Thank you again and please, keep on telling us your life as a musician!
Awesome Story Leland. I didn't fall asleep at all, your story is what life is about. Thanks!!!!!!!!!!!
What a wonderful story! Just a smile from ear to ear. You are a good man, Charlie (Santa) Brown!
Lee, I am so loving your videos. A great bassist, wonderful person and lovely story teller to boot :)
Another great video, Lee. You are indeed Santa Claus when it comes to wonderful stories and adventures. Thanks.
What an uplifting story. Just what we all need. All the best from Bonnie Scotland.
👍😂OMG I just posted a note on the previous video I watched about you looking like Santa. So I’ll post it here too.😂
👍When I saw the thumbnail pic my first thought “oh goody…Santa” so I clicked…I’m happy I did because I got sooooo much more than I ever could have expected. Now I have to binge watch all of your videos. Thank you. 🙏💝🎁
What a beautiful story! Lee, you are a great human being. I'm glad I've followed you since the 70's with James! I enjoy much your videos and this one is exceptional and full of meaning! I just loved the train!
What a wonderful story. There's not many famous people in the music world that would do what you have done. Thanks Leland for being who you are.
Wow... What a touching, true human story. I bet you could make a movie out of it. I know you got all kind's of other COOL stories for us and that's why i'm here... Thank you again Leland!✌😎
What a wonderful story.
These are the stories most of us want to hear. So sweet. Screw the tabloid crap !!!
That train is a lifetime of memories in a single piece. Great story. Thanks for telling us.👍❤️
Wowzers.....Big Love and Hugs for these Amazing Stories.....Thank You
Hey leland, That's a beautiful story, I'm a Dub and Dublin, although a small town, is an amazing town, full of creative and amazing people. God bless you Leland, Phil Lynott is looking down upon you with a great big smile on face.
What a sweet story. I' m playing bass on a lousy level for 30 years and everytime I see a pic of yours I' d tell my 10 year old daughter: "santa is a bassist"...all the best to you man, Arne
There aren't even words for this, Mr. Sklar. It's simply beyond...beyond...
This story made my day! Thanks Leland!!
Ah sweet Jesus Leland, I'm in tears now
Sir, you are one of the coolest and kind hearted people I've seen in RUclips.
Someone with your caliber in the music industry might not give a rats ass about regular people, but you are definitely something else.
I was born in 60's so I have spent my best years listening to your bass playing. Thank You for the music and good vibes. 😎😀
Thank you for a wonderful story of "friendship"......and thank you for your music.
Love that I ran into this story again. It meant so much in the early days of the pandemic and is now a lesson in kindness and forming life bonds. Thanks for your channel, Leland.
That's a wonderful story that speaks to the kind of person you are; God has blessed you with many gifts Mr. Sklar, not the least of which is a kind heart.
Hey Leland. I'm a lifelong musician, certainly not as successful as you but doin' it. I get on the road from time to time - small venues with my own group and bigger venues with some of the other groups that call me and those kind of stories are EXACTLY the ones that I cherish most. I've met people that have remained friends for many years and we visit when we can. I've had them put me up when I was passing through with a dark night. AND I shared your story with all of them. Thanks for a lifetime of great music!!!
It is becoming the highlight of my day listening to you play and tell stories. I have been playing drums / vocals and guitars / vocals since the mid 80’s in the UK and now live in NZ. It’s quite amazing that over the years of playing I have got to know some incredible people and indeed some of my idols in the craziest of situations. I have also been lucky enough to have played alongside some of them by sheer chance and being in the right place at the right time. I find myself telling stories of gigs and chance encounters that made me so happy, friendships I have made, amazing opportunities that present themselves and the reasons why I get up, stay up till all hours, travel for miles with piles of gear and smash through hours of music and end up a sweating puddle. It’s truly inspirational to listen to you speak let alone play. I have seen you so many times at gigs over many years and you are always on point.... a true legend, thank you Mr Sklar !!!!
What a beautiful story! I think the rock journalists miss the boat thinking the real fans of great musicians only want dirt. What I want in a great interview is the stories that tell how human the great player real is ... stay healthy and safe!
Regardless of the sordid crap that the media seems to prefer, *these* are exactly the type of story that matter, and should be shared! You're a wonderful human being, Lee Sklar! Be safe and be well. :-)
Thank you for doing these videos. I have always felt your playing had a beautiful humanity to it. After hearing your stories and learning more about your life I see why we love your music so much.
It makes me happy to see you already passed 22 thousand subscribers, you are appreciated by many ! We are spreading the word by re-posting your videos.. I run the treadmill while watching so..The longer the video is the fitter Ill get!! Thx Lee!!
I am a 56 year old man and I cried when that train appeared! Leland you are a great man and musician, thank you for sharing this and all your recent videos.
What a sweet memory and great story! You are right!! in this times there are people who are a lot worst off than us.
Leland... you are so humble and down to Earth!! AND GENUINE!!! A talented man who deserves the accolades you receive TEN FOLD! We love the pic we recently saw with our friend and a fellow bass player Johnny who was with Willie Nile last week. We all loving your new band too!
This is one of the best stories I've heard about friendship. You are a very decent man. We're lucky to share this world with you.
What a wonderful personal story. You’re being so generous in sharing pieces of your life with us. Thank you so very much! And of course: Stay home...stay safe...save lives!
Hi Leland I really liked the story. Made me smile and I don’t smile often lol.thanks
Adorable story..magic.Make for TV moments 💖.
I have watched this video a couple of times before and stumbled upon it again this morning. It is such a wonderful heart warming story and I can almost visualise the events! A story of a lasting friendship from such a random event, that transcends continents and celebrity etc. It actually brought a tear to my eye! Great story, so beautifully told, thanks Lee 🙂
Love your story that proves that you are not only a great bass player but also a wonderfull person.
I am a metalhead, but love your bass playing, no matter with whom you play.
Just following a simple principle that says "any music is good music, as long as its played by real people."
Beautiful story Lee. Very moving, touching and inspiring. Thank you!
What a beautiful story! Thank you for sharing this with your fans. Peace and Love.
Leland You are Santa Claus and such a sweet and humble man. Sklar if you don't get a star on the walk of fame or induction to the Rock hall it would be a shame. I have seen you play with so many bands. You deserve to honored for all that you have done. Peace brother, Michael.
What a fantastic story about a wonderful human experience. Thank you Leland
i get that all the time Lee " Look Mom it's Santa ! " Amazing story your are a true hero
I wish I was as good a human as you are. Great story.
Thank you Leland. Of all the people you've played with and met, the fact you remember this family tells me a lot about you and I appreciate it man.
Dear Leland,
It is sad indeed that Facebook chooses to try to silence you from time to time. This is a wonderful story, and your joy in telling it shows how big your heart is. I know this is not an unusual occurrence either...in sharing concert stories with a friend, she was so excited about this guy she ran into on the streets while she was in the Navy who gave her tickets to a show. Turns out it was you! I’m not entirely sure you aren’t Santa. You make dreams come true! ♥️
Lovely heartwarming story. What a sincere, kind, wonderful person you are.
Lee, you are a class act. I'll wager that blue train of yours is priceless. Stay well.
That is a beautiful story. Thank you for sharing the sunshine!! You are right with your words of caution. Thank you sir.
Great story, Leland. Over the years, music and musicians are fairly central to my soul, and I've been fortunate to meet several of my favorites. Two years ago, I got to talk with James Taylor during the intermission. I know you've played with him, and probably have some fond memories.....even during some of the dark times. We were given tickets to the show after losing everything in the Northern California Wildfires (Tubbs) in October 2017. James signed my CD, and offered his best to us as we move forward toward recovering. It's the little things that mean a lot, and many "famous" musicians don't take the time. We're all humans, and music can connect us. Be well.....don't resist.
What a great story. I was having a frustrating day and this story just turned things around. Thanks.
A heartwarming story. Thank you for sharing it with us. You are a beautiful person and a great musician!
Awesome brother, thank you so much for sharing that.
Those are the kind of stories we need, not the dirt, there's too much of that going around.
Leland: thank you for sharing this story. I was fortunate to see you while you were on tour with Jackson Browne many years ago. I have always enjoyed your musicianship and it is nice to experience your humanity. This story is balm for our battered souls.
Very cool story! I'll never forget that tour. I was 18 at the time and I'm 49 now! Really digging your channel Lee
Thank you for sharing this cool story. I think it’s great that you still have the train. I first remember hearing you play on Billy Thorpe’s Children of the Sun album in the 1970’s. I’ve always admired your play and your stage presence. Be careful and stay healthy. I look forward to more stories.
This is SUCH a better story than any of the sleazy stuff could ever be. I love your channel. Great way to end my day.
Reseeing this just now. Wonderful story for all the best reasons. ❤️
Literally the most wholesome thing I've heard in a while
It is always the simple things in life that connect people. A kind word will form friendships that last a lifetime...
Great Story!! What a memory for you and that family!! This is what life is really about.
Leland, I love your stories and even more your connection to the world around you. I just began working in a major hospital in sterilization dept. and I see the deep commitment of everyone there to extend themselves to the cause of helping people get back to healthy lives. Thanks. I'll try to pass you page on to others.
What a truly lovely human being, so touched by the compassion and wise words.
One of the best parts about music is its ability to connect people, and cultivate wonderful relationships. Thanks for sharing this with us Leland!!!! I'd be most appreciative if you could share more road stories with us. Hope your finger feels better fast.
Stay safe and well friend!!!
Music is a universal language. Love and music, love of music, music of love. So inspiring.
HaHa. You’re Santa’s big helper actually, without even realising it!
What a great guy! What a great story! What a great musician. Thank you, Mr. Sklar. I've been a fan of yours ever since I first heard Jackson Browne's first album ("Saturate Before Using" ?) way back in the early '80's. You are a class act and your RUclips page is pure gold. Thank you!
What a fantastic story. You are one of the good guys Mr Sklar! Look after that finger!. We'll see you again tomorrow.
the bright side of you hurting your finger is this beautiful story
I've not felt asleep for a second ;-)...listening to your wonderful story. And now... I even do love you more...Santa. Stay save !
A pure and beautiful of a story from a beautiful human being.
Thank you Leland. Please let the finger heal! You've been playing for us for decades, we can wait another couple of days till you're up to it again. Take it easy and tell some more stories if you feel like it.
The greatness of a musician is also measured by the stories he has to tell... these people were really lucky to meet you!
It was my uncle David and gran Adele. They tell this story all the time. ☺️☺️☺️
Great story, I love your RUclips channel. Thank you for all the great playing and stories, it's a real treat for music fans like myself!
OMG Lee you should have primed me to get the tissue box first.
This story has me balling. Kindness 100% pure
Love you for this story.
So, so glad you're doing this, Leland. Rays of sunshine and hope. Lots of love. Thank you!
Leland, I hope you heal quickly. The stories and jokes are great and of course the music.Stay healthy.😁
Lee, I'm sitting here with a smile and misty eyes. Thanks for sharing this story. The beat goes on. : )
