- Vandals attacking ULEZ cameras may have run up a bill of nearly £10m in the sixth months since the scheme has been launched.
Figures show that from April to October, police recorded 220 cameras being stolen and 767 damaged.
Each camera is believed to be worth £10,000, meaning a total close to £10m if all have been replaced.
TalKTV’s Ian Collins hit out at the Mayor of London over the controversial scheme.
Ian: "It's not the Crown Jewels, for God's sake - it's a bunch of cameras."

The air quality was monitored before this ULEZ extension and found to be well within safety limits,even beside main roads.
If monitored again i doubt it would be any different,which bears out the lie that it's about the air quality.
The worst air quality spots in London are all in existing/old ULEZ locations, calling into question the effectiveness of the whole scheme.

@@douglascrockatt3101 no doubt. But the air quality sensors at street level indicate that the A13 at Marylebone is the worst spot for air quality on Londons streets. It’s been sighing the ULEZ zone for a long time so should be pristine according to Khan.

Yes he can return all the money he rips off the NHS by charging ambulances to go through the ulez. He could exempt emergency vehicles, but he would rather screw the NHS. Read up how much the NHS is paying in ulez fees then ask why people can't get treatment.
From his owwn mouth 90% of cars are exempt from the tax so clearly any pollution isn't coming from the remaining 10% of cars. Their barking up the wrong tree.

It was good to hear this panel discussing the correct facts. It is perfectly true that all vehicles generate Particulate Matter through brakes, tyres and wear on the road. Whilst petrol cars generate 50% of these PM particles, electric cars generate a lot more due to being much heavier. This particulate matter is more harmful to health than the exhaust fumes from petrol cars!
As for ‘criminal damage’, I would first refer the panel to highway robber Khan, who ought to be arrested and put behind bars for life, for Obtaining Money by False Pretences and for wasting our money. In such circumstances, the patriots who are bringing down these offending cameras are doing the right thing, and should not be demonised for doing their duty to their fellowman.

you could stop private air travel small jets , they take off all day everyday from 4 london airports, but in would affect the rich so it wont happen .
The majority of the costs with CCTV is down to the civil works, labour, & commissioning of the camera. The camera equipment itself is only a small amount in comparison. So when these cameras get "taken out" Its the cost of reinstating the brackets, poles plus recommissioning etc. that costs the real money.

I found this on the Office for National statistics website.(Quote).There was 1 death registered in London in the period 2001 to 2021 which had exposure to air pollution recorded on the death certificate in either part 1 or part 2 of the death certificate. This death was attributed to environmental air pollution, however we are unable to determine whether this involved car emissions.

Please sign petition to get funding for Redbridge council to repair and reopen Broadmead Road Bridge, Woodford Green. Seems like the government wont give them the funds. What a mess of a government.
It's not 220, it's more like 3,000 and some of the damage is very extensive requiring digging up the road and replacing the pole. Plus older cars are being replaced naturally so this 200m is a huge exaggeration, we are getting to the point where it is costing almost as much to keep this going, at some point it will just be deemed a total failure.
Soon you'll have to hook up your vehicle to the system and you'll pay for every single inch you move.

Thing is once every one has updated their vehicle's and no more money to make then all of a sudden pay per mile will start
As someone else has put recently, the ULEZ cameras are a prelude to charging drivers per mile - we already pay per mile in fuel duty & VAT!! And then its not hard to make to jump to total surveillance as in China.
The only way of really stopping these cameras and working is going to the source get some IT experts ask him to transport for London system and corrupt it and stop it

Why can’t people protest against the behaviour of a law enforcement that has been violating peoples human rights not to be robbed by a bent system? I still drive my diesel van in the ulez zone. I don’t pay the ulez charge. My customers do !!! They pay 10% more than outside London. So they pay for me to pollute their air !!!
I have just watched the programme on the great smog on London in the 50s and after 3 days the weather changed and the wind blew and the smog went and clean air was back. Just wondering has the wind stopped blowing in London !!!!!1
