So I got flagged for copyright, and for some unknown reason the audio now loops from 5:03 to 6:10, sorry for the inconvenience guys, the magic that is RUclips strikes again.
wolkaiser drake: I have no idea, but I'll definitely be looking into it so it doesn't happen again, it was only a cleaning montage so nothing much lost for their video, still s shame it happened in the first place.
Copyright strikes are bullshit and needs to be removed. They are anti-customer policies that hurt their site. Back in 2009, you can have upload anything on RUclips and not get a copyright complaint. Absolutely ridiculous.
Shipping kills it for me, but buying used systems is a great way to get parts for cheap. This one having an AM3 board, well you got a LOT of options to upgrade.
It make for an awesome Windows XP Retro PC. Maybe get a 9800 GeForce instead of the 9500 and it should run everything maxed out like Far Cry or F.E.A.R.
PhilsComputerLab Pretty much any PC between 2001-2010 makes for a pretty great XP machine to be honest. But I guess it depends on what half of the decade the games are from.
I'm very curious to how you are able to get these so cheap. When I check ebay I don't see anything under $100.... Plus then shipping and import charges. I don't know of any kind of computer scrapyard either..?
There's an option on ebay on the left side of the screen. You have to place the price range of what you're look for. For example $20 to $50 Type in what's your price range.
ditto what others have said. Also check boards , groups and ask around. The thing is you usually have "to take it all away" with the best bargains. The stuff is usually extremely dusty . Or you might find someone goes out of their way nice , adds thermal new thermal paste and includes cannibalized stuff not included.
Hi, new to the PC scene, and barely know anything you're saying half the time, but I'd love to take a crack at building a pc sometime and really enjoy watching these videos, keep up the good work!
Great video-my kind of cheap computer building. As an American,I appreciate you have translated from Pounds to Dollars for us ignorant colonials but even though we do use the term 'penny' as a holdover from colonial days,it is actually a "cent" so something that costs $4.54 would be Four Dollars and Fifty Four cents. I have heard Americans say"Penny wise,Pound foolish",though. I love that you put the PC on the roof to dry in the sun.
My first pc build at like 13 was an Athlon x 250. Loved that thing. Went to a phenom x4 965 black, fx 8350, r5 2600, 3700x, 3950x. It’s been a wild ride.
As TechTablets.com has noted, low end PC's should not use chrome browser for video playback. A n3450 laptop dropped frames when youtube 4k vid is played at chrome, but no stutter at all on edge
But that N4350 likely supports hardware acceleration for H.264 and Edge only supports H.264 (unless you force it to use VP9) Edge happens to support the hardware acceleration much better than Chrome for some reason. I checked this on my N3060 laptop. (Even used the h264ify extension, not as good as Edge)
kenny ricardo Well it's still a better idea to use chrome on a low end PC than Firefox. I heard about this "Midori" web browser which is claimed to be "lightweight". Well I tried it and my single core Celeron 925 couldn't load the damn thing it would always freeze instantly. "Lightweight" my ass.
MLG Dew oh... That thing. It bogged down my single core pentium D too. Not to mention it sounded like a jet engine. Edge somehow is barely usable in my low end laptop for some reason, but ran okay on pc (still, why would you use it?). The browser sometimes require you to refresh the web for it to load (30% of the time). But when i use it the battery is actually great, 2 hours of browsing on a 4 year old hot laptop (that thing got 35 watt tdp, and can render videos the same speed as Snapdragon 835)
You've inspired me. I have a few modern machines, but just for fun I started building a few to a budget, to see what can be done for $10, $20, and $40 (Australian, 1 Aud = roughly 75 US cents). For $8.50 I managed to put together a 3ghz c2d (e8400), mobo, 500GB hdd, gf gt220 and 2GB RAM. Far from cutting edge, but definitely $8.50 worth of fun.
This is pretty much what I do with all of my builds. Find a cheep PC and stuff it full of new RAM, GPU, and HD. I mean the computer I run now is a Optiplex that the university I work at tossed to the curb. Only thing left is to upgrade the processor now.
Cerio Unknown what i think, that is the reason why, how much offers he can find and how will they perform for the money, but yea super computer money for him
There is something really awesome to see an old pc get cleaned and up and running again it's like seeing an old dog run around like a puppy it's cool lol
That's no thet "buy now" price mate, that was just the first bid, and the auction still had over 9 days left. Bids probably went up massively not long after that screencap was taken. That's just how Ebay works. But even at 150 bucks that wouldn't be a bad deal.
I know how ebay works, But usually it would say either "bid" or "buy now" next to it on the listing before clicking on it. It doesn't in this case so I couldn't tell but I assumed it was a bid.
I got a HP with 2GB RAM and a Athlon II X4 for 1$.. .. Mostly because the auction's title was "BEST PRICE FOR WINDOWS 7 PC" instead of something normal like listing the specs, I suspect most people just ignored it like I almost did.
I had that board.the only(and biggest) problem with it is you cannot overclock on it.anything above 208mhz fsb instantly crashes. Also had an athlon II X2 240,and in a gigabyte 970 board it run 4.1GHz easily :D loved that setup
I got something similar to this for around 20$. My fathers friend just wanted to get rid of his old computer, including 19" monitor and even a keyboard, mouse and speakers. I did not even know what is inside until I turned it on. It had 320GB HDD, Gigabyte motherboard (GA-M61PME-S2P), some single core AMD Sempron CPU, 2GB of RAM and no graphic card, since it was taken out. It also missed DVD drive, but I had one laying around so I just threw that in. My friend also gave me 4GB of DDR2 RAM that he ordered off ebay, but it did not work with his PC, since for some strange reason it only works with AMD CPU's (we got that when it already arrived). Few days later I ran into a lot better CPU than what was inside. I got AMD Athlon 64 X2 4800+ for just 2 or 3$ if I remember correct. I only need some graphic card since it is running on integrated GPU right now. So yeah, basically for around 20-25$ I got a fully working PC. It is still working good, and it's used mainly for internet browsing and some office work, also for backup if my main PC dies or something.
I know a lot of classic gamers feel like slapping around people that just throw out perfectly good hardware to buy fadware. Socket 7 systems in particular. They are the sweet spot next to the socket A, before the sata interface screwed with how games were stored.
Man, be careful with those fans. Getting them soaked isn't good for the bearing, it can drive out the grease and cause it to seize early, and it can also ruin any PWM fan controls. These older systems generally just use motor feedback and voltage control, which is less likely to be damaged by water unless they're wet still when turned on.
Haha I found one of these computers for a very similar price.. Just before I purchased it I realized that the shipping cost was nearly double the cost of the machine... No go!
I live in an area where trash is collected every 2 weeks, so i have time to go through it, so i commonly find pc parts, and i once found almost exact same build and parts.
If that's an home office pc from 10 years ago, you'll struggle to upgrade it in my experience. The motherboard has a legacy bios and doesn't supply enough power through the pci slot, so most gpus released after 2011 won't run. I'm looking forward to when you do it though
coincidence, in the beginning when it shows him browsing it shows a Dell E520, i just bought one myself for $20 for a budget Lan Rig and upgraded it with a Q6600, 6gb ddr2 800 and a GTX 750ti
i got a pc from a company that bought new ones for 25€ (22£ or 30$) The pc got an 4 core i5 750 cpu, 8gb RAM, a more than sufficient PSU and a GeForce GT 620 on a Gigabyte P55-UD3 Mainboad. Including 3 1280x1024 monitors. At first it ran into severe throttling issues because of bad thermal paste (probably the reason the company replaced it) after replacing the thermal paste everything worked fine. I have later on replaced the GPU with a RX 460 because Nvidia's Linux Drivers are much worse than AMD's After this video i realized HOW cheap that actually was :D
8 years ago my mom bought a 500 dollar desktop + monitor with 128mb GPU 2.8ghz CPU can't even run half life 2 without turning red to 480p lowest settings 22-44 fps :( edit:it broke and it had 1million viruses XD
Just reformat the hard drive to get rid of the virsuses, install free windows 10 without activating it, buy a 40$ gtx 750 ti 1gb off of ebay, and you should be able to play most games at 1080p low.
And i thought i was unlucky, 8 years ago my parents bought me a PC with an i3 530 and a gt220, a screen and a printer for more or less 800€, i was 8 years old at that moment and didn't give a fuck about it's gaming capabilities, so i stayed with my Nintendo DS
that's a weird concept to me. "my parents built a pc for me". mine paid for my first pc back in 1994 when i was 8, but i was the one to pick it. from there onwards they only gave me money once a year to buy whatever parts i needed... well i make that sound like i had an unlimited budget, which isn't true. they gave me money and i bought whatever parts i could with it. since my budget was limited, i had to really know my shit to get the most out of it.
I love how you just washed the fans not giving a fuck at all about any steel parts in there. Thank god for chromed parts and phosphor bronze. Also I use Avast! and it's a pretty amazing AV software, it even found a remote management system on one of my servers I had no idea was even there, let alone active and found it had a weak password, so that was also pretty good, for windows it's kinda important to have some form of AV as the OS is basically a fucking colander.
If you want CS:GO to run better on your really cheap builds, change MSAA to None, Texture Filtering Mode to Bilinear, turn off FXAA, remove motion blur, turn off Vsync, and go to 4:3 and change the res to 1024x768 or below.
So I got flagged for copyright, and for some unknown reason the audio now loops from 5:03 to 6:10, sorry for the inconvenience guys, the magic that is RUclips strikes again.
how do you get a copy right strike for a video about a PC build? it cant be the music, its too low to even be noticeable half the time
wolkaiser drake: I have no idea, but I'll definitely be looking into it so it doesn't happen again, it was only a cleaning montage so nothing much lost for their video, still s shame it happened in the first place.
Copyright strikes are bullshit and needs to be removed. They are anti-customer policies that hurt their site. Back in 2009, you can have upload anything on RUclips and not get a copyright complaint. Absolutely ridiculous.
