  • The Scenic Point hike in Glacier National Park, Montana, is a breathtaking adventure that offers stunning panoramic views of the Two Medicine Valley and surrounding peaks. This trail is about 13.5 km out-and-back route with an elevation gain of about 700 m. It’s considered a challenging hike but with all those switch back, we didn't find it hard at all, taking an average of 4 hours and 42 minutes to complete. We are fast hikers and it took us 3h35.
Starting near East Glacier Park Village, the trail initially winds through a forested area before opening up to expansive views as you ascend. Along the way, you’ll pass Appistoki Falls and Appistoki Creek, adding to the scenic beauty. The trail climbs steadily, with switchbacks that offer ever-improving vistas of the surrounding mountains, including Mount Henry and Rising Wolf Mountain.
At the summit, you’ll be rewarded with a 360-degree view of the Two Medicine region, including both Upper and Lower Two Medicine Lakes. The hike is known for its strong winds at the top, so be prepared for gusty conditions. We were lucky with almost no wind that day.
This hike is best enjoyed from April through September, and it’s important to note that dogs are not allowed on this trail. Also, be aware of potential wildlife closures due to bear activity
