  • Before to describe that hike, I would like to mention first that we were told we didn't have to leash dogs in wildland areas but after some researches when we came back from that hike, we realized only hunting dogs were permitted off leash. So our apologize for leaving Maverick off leash, we are not those kind of people not respecting the regulation. That being said, Maverick has a great recall and even if we met 2 moose in the trail, he stayed beside us and everything went perfectly. Maverick will stay on leash next time we return in this area.
Prairie Bluff hike is an amazing destination in Castle Wildland provincial park in Alberta! There is such a great variety of landscapes on that hike and we were also blessed to discover tons of wildflowers along the way. As mention on the video, we didn't use Alltrails approach but make our own to cut back about 6 km. There is very minimal scrambling and this trail is suitable for dogs. The descent by the south ridge is a little more technical but nothing crazy. Enjoy this adventure with us and if you like what you see, don't forget to subscribe!
