    This is great information. I am into project management myself and have been on a couple remote jobs recently, and I think that one of the things that you can do with your team is to organize a meeting either with Zoom or anywhere where you can be able to see the faces of your teammates, and that helps you as the project manager to read their attitudes or behaviors rather than solely depending on written documents. This will help you track the project as a remote project manager.

      Thanks so much for watching and for your comment here! I love your recommendation to set up a meeting where you can talk to each other face to face on Zoom. It's important to understand that we are in the business of working with other humans, but often that can get lost in back in forth on email and other mediums.

    Dear Kayla Good evening hope you are well it Mark again from London Uk. I just started studying for my CAPM certifications in project management, which includes CAPM ; prince 2 foundation and practitioner and prince 2 agile, through online learning provider , Learning people here in Uk. I look to pass all 4 exams by mid May 2024. My question is an aspiring project manager , l a degree, transferable skills, my work experience has been working for public sector organisations here in London. But it getting more practical experience in regards project management, project coordination, l recently got six months or so experience working on the Homes for Ukraine Scheme for local authorities here in London.

      Hi Mark, great to hear from you again!
      Glad all is going well and sounds like you are taking some awesome steps toward becoming a project manager.
      In terms of getting more experience, one of the best places to look is volunteer organizations (as you have discovered). Another great place to look is small businesses who typically need a project manager, but don't have the budget to hire one full time. You might start asking around with people you know to see if they have any recommendations for small businesses who could use some help getting a project started, or making progress on a stalled project. And finally, I highly recommend joining your local PMI chapter to network and look for opportunities to grow your experience.
      Hope that helps, looking forward to your next update :)

      Diploma or maybe certification online

      Hi! Thank you for your comment. The answer will depend on the type of PM you want to be and which industry/organization you want to work for. I would get clear on that first to figure out what the best path for you will be. The interesting thing about the journey to project management is that it looks different for everyone.
      As an entry level PM, two programs that may be helpful to look into are the CAPM and Google Project Management Certificaiton. They will provide a fundamental education in PM, but may or may not help you stand out in a job search.
      Another tip is to target positions that are adjacent to project manager. This is because "Project Manager" is not an entry level job. Some titles to consider are: Project Coordinator, Project Admin, Project Assistant, Business Analyst, Operations Analyst, etc.
      Best of luck to you!

      Hi and thanks for reaching out! I'm glad the videos are helpful to you. I got my start working in project management for a SaaS company, but I have also worked in creative/marketing and hospitality. My niche at this point in time is startups and small teams. In my experience, there are many elements of project management that will overlap between industries.

    Which industry to choose to do jobs remotely as pm

    • @kaylamcguire
      @kaylamcguire  Год назад +1

      Hi and thanks for your question! I always suggest choosing an industry where you have experience or a passion. This is going to give you the best chance for success and enjoyment in your career.
      As far as remote positions are concerned, there are a variety out there. Tech/software development, digital marketing, creative, and healthcare are some of the more common remote PM positions I see. Of course there are more and I would encourage you to search using several sources to find jobs that are a good fit for you.
      Good luck!
