    Why can't all tutorials be as simple to follow as this??? Good work. I think you should consider making more videos

    I just used 15mm spacers all around so I could use my stock base wheels. I didn't want to replace the studs with extended ones but if you go that route you only need 8mm spacers.

    Great video. Thanks for posting this. I'm getting ready to do this to my 2011 base. (For anyone that cares, Rock Auto typically has NEW calipers for a LOT cheaper than you can find them anywhere else.) (And don't forget to get caliper pins.)

    I'm thinking of upgrading my brakes to the Z06 as well but I already ordered the wheels. They are aftermarket Z06 wheels (18'" front with 54mm offset and 19" rear with 71mm offset ) but I'll have to go to your other video to see if I did good. Thanks!

    Great video and explanation! Subscribed. I have one question though. If you have the Z51 model with the slotted rotors, can you just replace the calipers to the larger Z06 size? I already have the wide body conversation with the Z06 size tires.

    Hey, I assume you like the blue on red contrast with your calipers because they come in Silver Blue and Red from Delco. Not my color choice for a red vette but still great brakes. I have them on two of my three C5s.

    • @beurownboss1554
      @beurownboss1554 Год назад

      I know it’s an old comment but assuming others will see this video, you’re right normally rotors would be directional but from factory z06 rotors are all left hand rotors so one side will be correct and passenger side looks backwards. He did it correctly in the video.

    I have a quick question my good man! Im upgrading all my fenders, bumper, and quarter panels to zo6 style body parts. I have my c7 gloss black zo6 rims imma put on my c6 aswell but im wondering something pretty serious. I have the base model BIG brakes for my front like the ones in the video. I want to put bigger brake calipers on the rear. Can i keep my calipers for the front and paint them and only get the rear calipers? I want to get all new rotors aswell i was just wondering if i could keep the base front ones bc they’re kinda like the zo6 ones.

    • @gofastandfix
      @gofastandfix  5 лет назад +1

      I think that you would need to measure the Piston area of the brakes to figure out whether or not that's going too wildly upset your brake bias

    Why do the brake lines need to be replaced? Is it due to the length? Or do the actually fittings change?

    • @gofastandfix
      @gofastandfix  5 лет назад

      The fitting changes. The non z06 lines are square at the end and the z06 lines have chamfered corners for clearance. Hope this helps feel free to ask any more questions.

  • @DERPunit317

    How did you handle the rears? The bolt holding down the brake lines has something right above it and its a mega pain in the ass to get to. I have my calipers and rotors on now, just trying to figure out how I can get that undone. and Base rear hoses wont work at all? even if rotated to fit the different hole position?

    • @gofastandfix
      @gofastandfix  4 года назад

      No unfortunately you absolutely have to have the ZO6 hoses because the spacing between the back of the caliper and the banjo fitting is different. The inverse works though you can run Z06 lines on a base. The bolt come out, you just really gotta fiddle with it.

    • @gofastandfix
      @gofastandfix  4 года назад +1

      The z06 rotors are much larger and have a different caliper offset so they will not work at all unfortunately

    what are the measurements of the spacer?

    • @gofastandfix
      @gofastandfix  4 года назад

      For these particular wheels it took a 15 mm in the front and a seven in the rear. But and big but, it depends on the design of the back side of the face of your individual wheels. That's why I went to all the effort to show you how to measure that.

    • @gofastandfix
      @gofastandfix  4 года назад

      The OEM ZO6 or ZR1 wheels will not fit base fenders. If you have C6 ZR1 wheels that fit a base car, you have replicas

    Where did you got everything?

    • @gofastandfix
      @gofastandfix  5 лет назад +1

      You can find everything oem on a most major parts sites. I got my parts from a donor car, but you can buy the calipers, rotors and lines brand new from Chevy, rockauto, summit and even AutoZone but I suggest shopping around. I think parts geek had the best prices the last time I looked for a friend.
      I'll see if I can dig up the part numbers, that's the best way to search.

    What!!!! No special mounting bracket? No cutting off parts of the bracket to accommodate the larger calipers? You mean I don't have to buy a special kit from one of the Corvette parts rip off catalogs. Are you kidding me? Dude, I love this video. I'be been wanted to do this to my base C6. Did not consider the need for larger wheels. Hummm...

      I've had three different sets of base wheels fit up and they clear with a 15 mil spacer and a 6 mil in the rear. Even better, the Gumby wheels clear with a tiny spacer in the front and no spacer in the rear
