People keep saying why doesn't she get the recognition she deserves. Truth is... she actually has gotten the recognition, the industry has given her many offers for bigger fame and fortune but she turned it down because she chooses not to sell her soul (which is super smart if you ask me). She even has a song basically talking about it, it's called unbreakable smile. In the song she discusses things that the industry will do to try to change people and she's not doing what they want and all that it's really good.
I’ve been thinking about how much attention she is getting lately.

Unfortunately, I think, that's deliberate. I think the record label dumbs down her records so they can play in a number of formats. To the degree that you sometimes hear these odd, little urban flourishes in her singing on the record. ("Nobody Love" for instance, where she occasionally sounds like she was raised inside a crib on a Compton street corner.) She avoids those moments live, I think, because, I'm guessing, they're not her idea, which is disappointing. (I mean, she's clearly a suburban, super Christian white girl from Southern California... ) It's a tough position for an artist. She wants to be popular and work and, well, get rich essentially (as anyone with that opportunity would), but to achieve that, record producers strip her songs of anything technical or interesting. Live, I think she sings and plays how she wants to because people actually appreciate that in a live setting. But it wouldn't work in clubs, it wouldn't work on the radio where everything has to be broad. It's sad kind of because she's a skilled singer and her record is childish and boring -- even though the songs aren't. They're just produced that way.

I always looked at her as the female Ed Sheeran(she can even sing fast & flow like him). I thought she'd go that route too, due to her past work. I supported her for years. Waiting for her break. Bought the EPs. Then I heard her music on the radio & was so happy for her because she finally made it. I wasn't crazy about her single. But I bought the album anyway. Once again I wanted to support her. Because she's such a talent. But truly I don't even really listen to that album. Theres very few I listen to. Most are stripped down & her vibe. One is with Ed, the other is live & another is a new bonus track. I like should've been us, but the stripped version she does live. Thats about it. I come on here just to listen to the acoustic stuff & her covers. Yes, Im happy people know her & recognise the talent she is. But that whole poppy vibe & no fluidity to that record, threw me off. Im such a big fan, but they are misusing her. If she just sat in a room without the execs & just Ed & made a record, it would be the most beautiful thing ever.
