It’s been 51 years since his death so i just covered his song 51st anniversary as a tribute. Since then i can’t stop binging videos about him. Hendrix was the greatest.
One of the things that I admire most about Hendrix was that he would find something interesting that he wanted to learn about from any other musician...
Yes, he made sure to give the people a show, and he had iconic style, but I don’t think there was any ego with him. Just an artist who loved music, and exploring its possibilities.
Joe kept that impossible mess of egos together longer than they would have without him.Definately the best lineup includes Joe, but it includes all the rest of them too.
@TheRabbit_123 Except when you are documenting historical events of interest it really helps to get the facts straight. Otherwise misinformation just keeps spreading.
Joe is kinda like an absent minded professor. He struggled to finally master the lead for the Beatles' And Your Bird Can Sing, only to find out later (from a surprised Ringo) that it was obviously recorded as two separate, layered, guitar tracks. But hey, he figured out how to do it on one guitar. ...It wasn't Jimi's guitar set-up that made him hard to figure out. It was how he pushed the boundaries of his own immense talent.
A similar story with the fusion prodigy Shawn Lane, he was messing around with a program to create a layered guitar sound but when Buckethead heard the recording he thought Shawn was actually playing everything at once, and he came close to being able to play it by himself lol.
Cool story. I would've asked JImi to play a few bars of "Red House" though. Hendrix's version is the top rock song ever. Followed closely behind by "Machine Gun" by Hendrix.
I lived in Youngstown in 1969 and I don't ever remember Hendrix getting any closer than Cleveland....If he would have been on the bill, I would have been there.....YSU is on the lower north side of Youngstown and Struthers is an outlying community that YSU used for concerts at the fieldhouse of Struthers High School....I've seen Alice Cooper, the Rascals and Peter,Paul and Mary and a few others there....
Yes The Guitar Being Upside Down Gave Him A Certain Sound Because The Frequency Is Reversed By The Pickups Normally Under The Deeper Strings Are Under The Lighter Strings.
Jimi played a righty guitar, flipped over to the left side but the strings were also adjusted to accommodate standard playing style, normal, low to high. Albert King was a blues guitarist who actually played with his guitar string upside-down. I'm not sure why Joe Walsh would say that was why nobody else could sound like him(crack the code). I mean, sure, the volume and tone controls were up top and the tremolo was positioned differently than it would if the guitar was played righty. It's such an important detail about the way his guitar was strung. My opinion about why nobody could sound like Hendrix is that Hendrix channeled something that could only be described as genius.
To suggest that Hendrix sounded good because he played left handed backward guitar is absurd . Guitar players have been trying to crack the " Hendrix code " for 50 years .

this sounds silly but a chunk of jimi's tone was that his pickups were backwards too,so the polarity of the magnets were opposite and that changed his tone as well
"He played a right handed guitar!" not a big deal because it was strung like a lefty guitar, lefty guitars were hard to come by. I knew a guy who played a right guitar left handed with the strings strung for a right guitar.
I want to spend a weekend with joe walsh for a master class on guitar and music theory. In exchange, I'll let him drive my VW bug while I sit in the back and go over what he taught me
Don't let your anger from not being able to play the guitar make you say crazy stuff. Can you imagine every kid in America being forced to play piano? That's what your saying.. just pick up a guitar and learn to play, it's not too late.
James Gang toured constantly from November '69 to December '71 (!!) I saw one show, in Memphis, where they opened for Hendrix. So maybe Hendrix was in Youngstown to catch the show and was back stage? 🤷♂️
Why would Joe attribute Jimi’s sound simply to him being left handed? It makes no difference whatsoever if you’re going by handedness. The only difference on a strat would be the fact that flipped around, the bridge pickup would give the lower strings more treble and the higher strings more bass. That has nothing to do with Jimi’s guitar wizardry.
Joe is the Forest Gump of Rock 'n Roll.He was always around during historic moments.
Lool.. That's hysterical.

He could also play upside down.
The sound of a properly strung guitar for a lefty is different because of the positioning of the pickups not changing despite the new string layout.
