An interesting true story about Joe Walsh and his devotion to the guitar. When he was a teenager he became fascinated by the lead guitar in the Beatles’ song “And Your Bird Can Sing.” He worked hours and hours on end for months learning the lead for that song. He finally mastered it after hundreds of hours of blood, sweat and tears. He was so proud of himself that he learned such a complex and intricate song. He thought George Harrison was an unparalleled genius. Years later he met Ringo Starr (who is now Joe’s brother-in-law) and asked him about how long it took George to learn the lead on “And Your Bird Can Sing.” Ringo looked at him as if he was crazy and laughed. “Joe,” he said, “that song had TWO lead guitars playing in harmony and multi tracked. George and Paul both played lead!” All those years Joe thought George was such a guitar virtuoso only to find out HE was the virtuoso! Listen to the song-especially the double lead-and imagine the acrobatics it took for Joe to learn to play two harmonic leads simultaneously on the same guitar!
Great story, and I did the same thing as Joe even though I knew it was a twin harmony lead!? It took a long time, and it's still not 100% right, but sounds great and is pretty darn close. I learned A LOT in the process as I'm sure Joe did as well. Hope to get to see Joe live after this covid thing is over, he is a legend and a top notch performer / guitar player. That he is...
ABSOLUTELY. He probably doesn't understand how much we need and are grateful for him. Thank you Joe. I've looked to you inspiration and smiles for an awful long time .
When I was in the Army in Germany, the James Gang played at the most awesome club called the Blow Up. Loved them ever since.
Man, the story about his father was totally unexpected. Boy you never know
Well people who have families serving in the military usually have children who also serve..I did and my father was in WWII
Me too,as my father did the same thing at the same time....
Damn Joe. You are the picture in the dictionary under Rock and Roll !! Long live Joe.
Joe is one of the greatest human beings on the planet!
Thank you for being.

He’s a national treasure and don’t even know it.
Joe gives back talking to the troops or addiction groups, that makes Joe super cool 😎👍🎸
Nice insight into Joes life and his talent. What a cool dude. W
I have loved Joe since his James Gang days. Just as genuine, talented, and humble as they come.

Thank you so much for posting this. I grew up with Joe Walsh’s songs and now it was a pleasure to meet him. Much appreciated.
Had no Idea Joe your something special now... amazing
Joe Walsh is one of 3 guitarists that made me pick the guitar at 13 yrs. old. The other two were Jimmy Page and Edward Van Halen. Joe continues to make music, looks great and and can tell more stories because of his age!!! LOL Now that is a beautiful thing!!!! Love ya Joe, and "How ya doin?"
James Gang IMA auditorium Flint Michigan 1970 fresh back from Vietnam. Thanks for your spirit, helps with my healing.
totally totally totally brilliant guy and musician
Just so great, Joe! Music is such a great uniter. God bless, you.
I once met Rick Emmett from Triumph in a radio studio. Once he picked up that guitar (he was on the air), you could instantly tell the immediate difference between a good musician and a GREAT musician.
Joe Walsh is the same way.
I grew up listening to this genius musician, thank God Joe do himself in, like so many others of that era. I love Joe Walsh like millions of others.
Imagine a planet without Joe Walsh. No thanks. So thankful he overcame his dark times and still gifts us with his great talents and humanity. He's a treasure. Thanks for posting this William...thoroughly enjoyed it.
Clean, and sober, the new and improved Joe! 👍🏼👍🏼
My PawPaw (my mom's dad) was a telecommunications officer in the Korean War... in other words, carried the big phone on his back. He never talked about it but only shared that bullets were wizzing through his tent. That's all he would share about it. My other granddad was in another war at the time and I never heard anything about it... not one word. It never left them though - you could tell.
Joe Walsh what a guitar wizard and a overall great guy.
Way to Go Joe!! And a special thanks to those who joined the military and put your live's on the line!!! My grandfather was captured in Okinawa. He escaped. Not all of his friends did. He never liked to talk about the war. One day when I was 12 he opened up, showed me pictures too. I'll never get passed that. War was no longer glorified in my mind. He never talked about it again. Hooker Chemical ultimately took him by cancer. - Love Canal. I miss him so much. Thanks for sharing this
Joe is swaying .love to hear him playing.
He's like the Victor Borge of Rock N Roll! Love Joe!!!
So many won't get that reference due to their age. I'm old, and truly appreciated your humor! You're SO right. And I love him, too. :)

I was fortunate enough to have seen the Eagles play and Joe was sensational. I love this guy! I've been a fan of his since i was a teenager back in the 70's !
God bless you, Joe. Love your heart!
What a special treat. Thanks Joe Walsh for sharing yourself with the military. And with us on RUclips.
Who in the hell would give this a thumbs down? Who? Identify yourself...
I have listen to Joe since 1970 and was blessed to see him live in 1972 in Philadelphia. I was in the Navy and in the VA hospital there for a minor surgery, but to watch him and he did Rocky Mountain Way. I was stunned with the entire concert. I am thankful and grateful he still has the energy to help the Vets. As a vet in San Diego area in a wheelchair for multiple issues, I can sit at home and listen to Joe. Thank you.
He’s so good, brings tears to my eyes….
Thank you Joe Walsh! I'm a 20 year submarine veteran and this was a pleasure to watch!! Thank you and God Bless!
