Absolutely inspiring. The drunken destroyer of quite a fiew hotel rooms has transformed into a healthy, wise and very likeable rolemodel. For a long time I loved and still love the way he sings and plays. Now he even inspired me.

Thanks Joe, I am 29 years sober, it wasn’t as difficult to stop than I thought, when I knew I was not alone and there was help for my disease. And although it has been 29 years, I also know one slip is all it takes to return to the life of demons. After learning there is help, two things became my life ‘Alcohol is not your friend’ and ‘One day at a time’. Thanks Joe for sharing.

Yes he could still function. But if you could see what alcohol or drugs are doing to your organs you would stop. The liver can put up with a lot until it is 80% damaged, then there is no going back. That is why if a doctor tells somebody that if they carry on drinking they will die, it's because the blood tests on the liver have come back showing maybe 50% 60% damaged. At that point if you do stop, the good thing about the liver is it can repair itself. But 80% no chance, you will get cirrhosis, your abdomen will fill with fluid, which needs to be drained regularly, and you will look yellow. On top of that you will die a painful death.

Love you Joe. Loved you when you were a Young eagle; When you lived the Life that had been good to you, and still, and always WILL Love you Ma Man. You are truly the embodiment of Love, and always have been. I think that God (Or whoever one's Higher Power is) sets some of us apart. Those of us like you, and me, and many others like us, who have been to the Other side, and came through it. God, has given us a special place in his House, and as such, has assigned us a special Task. To give his love to as many people as we can without limit and without measure, that, I believe is the destiny of those like us. WE ARE the Peacemakers, and thus, have a responsibility to carry this responsibility out without thought of self. And you Joe (Mr. Walsh) ARE TH EMBODIMENT OF THIS GREAT GIFT FROM GOD. Love YOU BEYOND ALL THAT IS. MAY YOU LIVE A 1000 YEARS.

It's difficult to explain the phenom called Joe Walsh. He is one of those artists that as an individual, I can't respect him enough and his creations are second to none. I think of the greats... Sinatra (not a fan, but) Hendrix, Mozart Ya know? The greats... and there in the lineup is Joe Walsh but I know he is a bit of a secondary star on the charts and like so many other artists I wonder why he doesn't get the admiration that I pour on him from the masses... BUT WAIT A MINUTE! Joe DOES get that admiration and EVERYBODY feels the same way I do about him and then you wonder why THAT is because it doesn't happen like that for the other underdogs.

I'm currently on a lot of prescription drugs, not from my doctor, I buy them. But when Joe says 'ask for help, pick up the phone' that's gonna be so hard. I'm ashamed of my stupidity, for going down a road of taking drugs to get me through the day. I feel they make my day better, that being without them would take away my support. I know it sounds stupid, deep down I know I'm taking too many, and I'm playing Russian Roulette with my life. The amount of Benzos I take at night should knock out a horse, but I still wake up to another day to get through. Picking up that phone..............maybe.

      michelle,
hi i just wanted to share a few thoughts
with you. i was injured and put on
morphine back in 1993, and continued
to take that while consuming large
amounts of alcohol. that went on until
june 2014. when i weaned myself off
      the morphine and alcohol. unfortunately,
my doctors put me on fentanyl patches
for the next year i continued in the
physician supervised opiod haze, in june
of 2015, i weaned myself off the patches
and have been amazed each day as my
body remembers the life before opiods
and i can say in all honesty i never
abused any of the medicines i was
perscribed. i did get off by myself
with FAITH in GOD that i would prevail.
to that end, you do not need to go
to a rehab facility but dig within
yourself find your GOD POWER in that
you will gain the strength to fight off
those demons. one other thing, everyone
fears and dreads the withdrawal symptoms
accept i had none and today i am a better
person because i never walked alone. stay
centered, first you will crawl then put one
foot in front of the other eventually you
are walking finally you will run. it is there
that you begin to fly as your whole being
bristles with the awakening nerves sending
and receiving messages. find music i found
that those artists i knew before the techno
days of the nineties were most benificial.
      good luck and GOD SPEED.
      later,
      the

Thank you all for your supportive words. I was attacked which is why I take them. They block out the memory. Valium 10mg, Codeine, Zopiclone 7.5mg, Temazepam 10mg a cocktail of 5 of each every night, 10 of Codeine 30mg. I know my tolerance keeps going up and I need more and they're just a phone call away. I did go to the police, but there wasn't enough evidence. But without the pills, I remember every detail, and these pills stop me remembering it. I'm in the UK and I have told mental health services I feel suicidal, and they said there's a waiting list and I won't be able to see anybody until after Christmas.

"The fix is care, family, compassion." You're speaking to the addicted, right? I mean, I'll wager most of the addicted haven't cared enough that their family would be wise to continue compassion. The state has help but, the addicted must care enough. It's really very simple. There's a cure for addiction that is 100% effective, costs nothing, and works instantly. In fact, it's the only cure and only one person can administer it.

I followed your Music since the 4th grade now i'm 62 . I followed it all & your changes ! You invented & wrote some of the best music in the world on Pot * Vodka * Camel lights & sometimes funny little pills here & there ! Your hardest point in life is when u lost Emma & your marriage went to hell w/ Emma's Mother ! Thats when i saw where you couldn't write but had stuff in your mental closet waiting ' Thats when you were using to numb your head . ! You were always in control of your Music. But when you met up w/ the stripper Lady thats when things got really scary & i noticed when you were on T.V. you were making more funny faces because you were loaded from being back stage & talking & visiting w/ folks like John Candy & Drew Carey & such. When we are young ' people have the inside strength to keep there inside problems at bay ' but as we get older our body's can't take it anymore & it has to be let out & taught to others what went wrong ! Whoever told you to leave the stripper girl is the one that really saved both of your lives ! Its not that she was a bad person ' its because you were both too much a like & had lost control over your own souls sort of . I never read the book ever & don't care to. Also the song : The Confessor is the most Brilliant song you & Waddy ever came up with ! It's Tone * Structure * Message . Also thanks to Keith Olson for believing in u & plugging your head back in at 36 . I remember also that Jack Nicholson once said : Don't sing on the confessor Joe ' your just gonna mess it up ! Boy ! Was he ever wrong at the time ! Its was a message waiting to speak to yourself & us ! And it did !. There is no better FAN than me ! I am one of the Fans that didn't read what you said on the Yer' Album about the tone arm getting broke trying to listen to the very last groove's on the Album ! Last time i saw you play was Concord Ca. & Waddy * Vitale opened up for Paul & Bad Co. Your very best song you did on drugs was Comin'Down but thats another story !
