I love how he literally hired himself.
That’s how you know he was a great salesman
A true S-Tier salesman knows how to sell himself better than anything else.
Sometimes you just gotta hire yourself.
That’s knowing what you bring to the table 🐐
"Her father is the brother of my mom".
Perfect fuckin save.👍
Almost thought he married his first cousin, that'd be so awkward

wrrr
Funny as hell! 😂😂😂
I quit over the phone and seen people quit over in text message
Leo hasn't had that much chemistry with a co-star since he was floating on a door raft in the North Atlantic.
This fucking chemistry was made in heaven...they are incredible together!!! F the raft!
Jonah is great in most scenes 👏
Floating on a door 🤣🤣
Or flying on Pan-Am with forged checks… all while engaged to Amy Adams?
Respect
when you are confident af, you interview the employer.
Exactly my man!
Interviews are a two way street!!
I did that, I was hired, a couple months later I won several awards for the entire company that has multiple locations in my city 😂 my boss who hired me actually got promoted. You have to do it tactfully and do it in such a manner that you make them realize that you are a commodity and that it behooves them to try and hire you, like a motherfreaking ice queen bro, but then you actually have to prove it once you get hired and you gon on from there asking for more things so they keep you happy and you keep them happy with your work.
Not gonna lie. Leo and Jonah should do more comedies together.
They're gonna be in Adam McKay's new movie coming out next month
@@alexnavas2802 That movie sucked unfortunately (Don't Look Up).

“Smoke some crack with me bro.” He made it sound like jordan was the weirdo, such a good movie.
"Your free now. Run free." Lmao!
I like how he says he’d take them to an institution if they came out retarded like that was an acceptable solution. 😂😂😂
Been looking for this comment.
" I tell you what, you show me a pay stub with $72,000 on it and I quit my job right now and I'll work for you"
Love that he made it seem like he'd be doin jordan a favor, right then and there without knowing eachother, he sold himself, Jordan knew he had the sales knack.
Damn that's an awesome way to look at it
For real. That's the only reason Jordan took him on. He sold himself making Jordan realize that this man tried to make Jordan think Jordan needed him and not the other way around. It's genius
Whaaaat?!?!?! i just thought he seemed desperatr
@@Elimbi1 that’s how you do sales buddy
@@Elimbi1 a desperate person can man a great salesman
I like how when he started explaining "her father is...", I thought it was going to be a distant cousin with a complex family tree explanation, but he just ended with "the brother of my mom."
I like how respectful Jordan is being to Donnie despite Donnie coming on strong to him and despite how much money he’s making , he’s treating Donnie as a equal
New Yorkers
Before making Stratton he was a lot humbler and mild mannered
Yeah a lot of people miss that subtlety of his journey at the beginning of the movie but it’s made clear that before Stratton and meeting his first mentor (played by McConaughey) he had a good marriage with a loving wife who supported him regardless of money problems and he came off as a humble guy looking to do well in life, but of course once Stratton happens it’s not just the money that changed him but the power of having created an Empire which gives many a god complex but anyway as we all know the moral is greed and excess corrupts the soul, even good people who once had good intentions.
Good points, people are complex@@artofsam
Donnie is a beast. Put some respect on his name
The look on donnie's face when he say "...it would be me, out of respect," is so funny looking. I don't know what to even call it, it's just hilarious. And so is the rest of this scene.
It’s the fact that saying “out of respect” at the end somehow makes him think its ok lol.
“If anyone is gonna fuck my cousin it’s gonna be me… out of respect.”
The on screen chemistry between these two is really incredible
I love that Donnie’s actually excited to smoke crack
One of the worst drugs there is. Even one use of it can permanently rewire the brain for the worse.
Probably before the stereotype of being a tweaker happened
“You’re free now…run free” then the actual thing he’d do isn’t much better “take it to an institution” this is the funniest and messed up shit ever😭😂😂
Yeah but that's what they did back then. My uncle has downsyndrome the youngest of 7. It was common practice to place them in institutions the family did all 6 kids chipped in to raise him. Taught him to count with playing cards. He now lives in a community which is the normal thing these days. He's. Real lady's man.
What's great is the drive to the country and open the door and say your free. That was all Jonah. Not in script. Leo had heard Mathew with the whole humming thing. He asked Mathew to ab lib that speech. Marty really put a lot of trust in Jonah. Has had it with Leo for a while now.
“I’ll tell you what, you show me a paystub for $72,000 I quit my job right now and I work for you……hey Paulie what’s up? Yeah everything’s fine, hey listen I quit.” 😂😂😂😂😂😂
Honestly though who tf just carries around their most recent pay stub?

"Out of respect"
Jordan: "no, I get it, ya, ya."
Almost ten years old! This movie is timeless
All time classic
10 years? What the fuck, i remember that day like was yesterday when i was sitting in my couch watching this movie, thinking that was like 10 years ago is wild
Holy shit almost 10 years?!
I laughed my ass off when Donnie mentions susan and starts an argument about his wife 😂
But his wife's name in the movie is Hildy. Why Susan here?
@@ninalangle944 Susan was Donne's wife.
Pretty accurate..the first time smoking crack is the best. You think "why didn't I do this sooner?" Then it's all downhill and can never replicate the high
damn ..
Just using one time can rewire the brain for the worse too. But yeah, every hard drug like meth, speed, heroin, etc. Everyone says it’s never as good as the first time but you will crave more. And those all damage the brain permanently too.
“One hit! Just one hit!”
Good, cause one hit is all it takes lol
why were u smoking crack bro smh
"smoke some fvcken crack with me bro" ... the guy that just gave you a job!! 😅
I don’t know if it’s true but this movie really made it seem like Donnie was the terrible influence behind all of Jordan’s actions.
Jordan went on record this scene is true
@@tylergnosis2581 well the movie is based off Jordan’s book so it’s his side of the story of course he’s going to agree with it. The guys a liar and cheat so we don’t know how much we can test him.

This movie is absolutely hilarious lol and Leonard is hands down one of the best actors lol this man is a legend in every movie he plays in! 100% believe able the characters he plays
Leonard. Hahahahahahaha!!!!
When Dicaprio was a young actor struggling to get noticed, his first agent told him his name sounded too foreign, and told him to change his name to Lenny Williams to appeal to American audiences lmfao
I bet Leo cracked up multiple times filming this scene
How did Dicaprio not get an Oscar for this film??
Yeah I also think
Mat McConaughey beat him with Dallas Buyers Club. Definitely recommend it, shit was outta this world
The Oscars hate Italians. Martin Scorsese, Leo, Al Pacino, and many more Italian Americans were snubbed for a long time because the Oscars hate them.
I feel like for a short period of time they were just fucking with Leo cause he was making hit after hit and almost getting the oscar, but losing right at the end.
Because hes just being decaprio in this movie. This movie is great but its not ground breaking lol.
The ridiculous appearance is a ruse, it serves as a distraction from Donnie's incredibly aggressive sales tactics.
By standing over Jordan rather than sitting down, trapping him in the booth, interrupting his meal, and blatantly ignoring conventions of polite conversation (I.e. disregarding Jordan's silent cues that he wants to be left alone and insistently pressuring him to reveal personal info) Donnie puts himself in the most dominant position possible so that when he makes his pitch Jordan will be more inclined to value the product, in this case Donnie.
Sometimes a cigar is a cigar.
lol. why dont you try that on your next interview and see if what you said makes any sense. The only reason that worked is that Jordan was young, and green. You make it seem as if he was a seasoned broker and was working at Morgan Stanley instead of a rinky dink pink sheet shop.
Stop the nonsense psycho analysis !
Had he been a seasoned broker, that would be offensive and disrespectful and would never ever ever be tolerated but hey your nonsense makes more sense
@@bjvu9460
It’s not a psycho analysis, they do this kind of stuff in movies for the realism. This does not work in every situation, which is why it’s based on feeling. It’s what separates the amateurs and the pros. Sales isn’t exactly easy to get into and not everyone is capable of it. Jonas character Demonstrates to everyone that he is capable of getting what he wants which in turn also shows that he has a knack for sales.
@@bjvu9460 nah this works if the position is for high pressure salespeople.
there's something about the crack scene that gets me every time, it's like you can see the depravity take hold of jordan after he exhales all while complemented by the light jazz in the background, this movie has a feeling to it that no filmmaker will ever come close to duplicating
this film was the first time i had ever seen jonah hill act in something and his character was so bat shit crazy that i was kinda scared of jonah himself but after watching him in superbad and war dogs ive come to really like and respect him. he seems like a really funny and nice dude, amazing actor too goddamn
oh and i really enjoyed the film mid90s and was so surpised when i found out he directed and wrote it cause i didn't know who he was initially. mad props to him
You should watch war dogs, great and badass performance from Jonah
Watch Moneyball with him and Brad Pitt. He was nominated for an Oscar for his performance.
i watched him in superbad first
“If someone’s gonna f#%! cousin, it’s gonna be me” 😂😂😂 I lost it at that part
1:07 Leos mouth isn’t moving
Good eye, never caught that
“We have to run! Run! Like we some fucking lions, and tigers, and bears!” 😂😂😂😂 grade A
That part had me laughing crazy
Me: oh my! Lol
I love the subtle correction of the “70,000, well technically $72,000”
Most miss the context at what a profound number this was in 1980’s. While it may not seem alot today, 2k back in the 80’s was about 6,000 in todays value. To add to it, rent in New york at the time was probably around 300$ a month. Thats like half a years worth of rent!
Shit id quit my job too loll.
Dude sold it. No matter the weird stuff, dude had talent.
GREAT SCENE.
This WHOLE MOVIE is a great scene
“Fuckin smoke crack with me bro” 10/10 recommend if you’re a family man
I worked in healthcare for 17 years. Emt, Paramedic, fire fighter, then radiology, and cardiology. A retinal detachment took me out of the surgery game. A friend of mine turned me on to her business, where she's pulling in more money than I was and working a fraction of my work load. I couldn't believe it. But she proved it to me. I shadowed her. I had one of these Wolf of Wallstreet moments and she showed me the money. I hit the breaks on my healthcare career and I'm pursuing this new course full speed with her mentoring me. I'm like Donnie without the crack or cousin shagging
I've heard of hitting the brakes before but never the breaks.
Jonah never ceases to amaze me, so talented.
Jonah Hill’s voice is so unique! The raspiness
These two acting together is a fantastic mix
The origin of "Hey man, i love your car. What do you do for a living?".
Dude when he hits the crack… I swear dude. That’s the best acting I’ve ever seen.
When he slips Jordan the note about the wire, the level of acting was incredible.
Its a crime Leo didn't win an Oscar for this role.
Jonah Hill earned his money in this movie. Which I hope was substantial.
he was only paid like ten grand because he wanted to work with scorsese
@@carbonfiberpizza5739 Shit, really? That's terrible
@@LOLERXP 60k actually, that’s the minimum you could get paid

"outta respect " 😂🤧
"Lets run, We gotta get outta here buddy, let's run like we're Tigers and bears, and lions"😤😲
This movie was ahead of it's time
It's a true story
God damn these two have good chemistry on camera
The genius of this scene is when he called to quit his job, last scene was not even over yet. It shows how quickly he was impresed and sold to the idea! Perfect!
The crack laugh gets me every time.
Jonah plays the perfect role. You have to like the guy for quitting his job for better opportunities. But at the same time you also feel disgust for him as a human being for his personal life choices and mannerisms. Why would anyone trust a nasty rando who walked up to you, asked what you do/see your pay stub and offered to work for you? He had no loyalty to his former employer (no 2 weeks notice) so why trust him at all?
Brilliant acting and just a hoot 🦉 of a movie. I can’t get enough I just keep watching these priceless scenes. Always will be a favorite movie for me!!
"You make alot of money?" Lmfao
I busted out laughing when he asked him if he made a lot of money.
@@Stalkerx13 lol it was the look for me
3:10 "but theres a big chance right?..the whole" lolol i love how he says that line
Notice when Jordan says "something like that" his lips don't even move. Not only is he a great stockbroker but a trained ventriloquist!
Jonah got absolutely screwed out of the Best Supporting Actor Oscar. He’s the best part of this whole movie
It’s a STRAIGHT CRIME that Leo didn’t win an Oscar for this film. The level he was on I don’t think we’ll ever see again
Jonah Hill is honestly an underrated actor
Yo these scenes have only gotten better with time
I love he actually went with it instead off telling Donnie off
This movie is sick and demented.
I love it.
“Run free now” hilarious and terrible 😂
“Don’t tell Susan, that’s not her f*ckin business” he nailed this role 😂
