4:25 is when the small talk ended but 5:15 is really when it went south. Jordan played it off extremely well for that 1 minute but let his ego get in the way right then.
Man, this scene was hella scary. They were sweet talking each other at the beginning and it turned into something else. He tried to bribe him and in my head, I was like, “shut up Jordan, say no more...”
4:12 That expression on the actor playing the federal agent is just about perfect. A combination of hiding a smile and eyes indicating he got the other side to say what he wanted. Really good.
Great scene. It was great to see a film where the star, DiCaprio in this case, doesn't get to use all the other actors as foils to come out smelling like a rose in every scene. Kyle Chandler's character gave it right back to DiCaprio's character where he lived. That was fantastic and gave the true narrative a real feel.
The guy that plays the agent does an absolutely fucking stellar job as he sets up traps for Jordan in the conversation. Honestly one of the best interactions in cinema.
This movie was a cinematic masterpiece. Cut any minute long clip from this movie and you will find an instance acting and storytelling so good that people like Bay or Snyder can't make in their entire lifetime. Every scene is so meticulously composed that you start to feel the same emotions that the scene is trying to evoke without any difficulty, like Brad's frustration when he deals with Donnie or like here, where the Belfolts venom can be felt for not getting what he wanted
DiCaprio's finest moment. I'm no cringing fan but he was positively brilliant in this role ....watch the film and watch him.....it's Oscar-winning stuff. In this scene, watch his inner malevolency slowly rise to the surface like steam from a kettle...the sign of a great actor.
Jordan based his whole career on being able to buy and sell his way out of bad situations. The moment he meets the FBI agent and is unable to sell him anything he offers him. Its the being of the end.

Jordan is not intelligent. Gus Fring is intelligent.
One of cinema's greatest conversation scenes, freakin' epic writing, and one of Kyle Chandler's greatest ever performances. Incredible how comments think Belfort was such a badass here but in fact he got completely owned in this interaction. None of his money power meant anything.
Not just his money - Until here in the movie, Jordan was the super salesman who could talk clueless customers into anything and laugh at their cluelessness. But in this interaction, the FBI agent plays him for the fool, and sells him! And then calls him "little man"! Epic.
money cant buy integrity!!
Nobody in this comment section thinks Belfort was a badass in this situation
Playa thought he was a gangsta but got played hard by the Fed 😁
if people think Belfort is a badass here, they clearly aren't paying enough attention. He was fuming and scared by the end.
This whole scene was an exact mirror to that of Jordan teaching the first brokers at Stratton Oakmont how to reel in an idiot on the phone. Everything that came out of Agent Denhams mouth sounded exactly like something Belfort would use in his script.
*”Whoever speaks first loses”*
That’s why this scene is *exactly* at the half way point of the film. It’s the moment the game is flipped on Jordan, this the moment Jordan meets the person who has not only played his game longer than he has, but better.
Took me a while to find that exact moment but it’s at 1:34 . Lol.
