    Buzzy UPDATE??: orlando-rising...
    For the Cinemoddities podcast, I interviewed Matthew Serrano and Dave Ensign about Matthew's documentary short, "Sneaking into a Forgotten Disney World Ride (Epcot - Horizons)." In this interview, many topics were discussed, but one topic I couldn't help but upload early! Dave shared with us the fate of Buzzy, the star of Cranium Command, after reports and gossip were flying that the audio animatronic figure had been stolen. Thanks to Dave we now know Buzzy was not stolen, but reports of his theft were just a miscommunication on many parties behalf.

    "Let's not comment on Buzzy! It'll add to the conspiracy!" That's stupid. It's bad enough that they removed him because of people breaking in possibly getting hurt... And then didn't tell anyone? That's extra stupid.

      The thing is, it's Disney, and they don't owe you an explanation. Period. Would one be nice? Sure. But at the end of the day, they're not obligated to tell you anything. The only "stupid" part of this whole fiasco, was because the fans made it one. It's ironic that fans couldn't follow Buzzy's advice of "Use your head, don't lose your head", and instead of using their common sense, decided to jump right into hysterically shouting about "stolen animatronic" conspiracies.

      It really doesn't. Think about it. Why would Disney or maintenance men who are professionally trained to remove animatronics in a professional way.why would they just cut the wires with like oversized pliers or something. Intern it would break the animatronic they wouldn't be able to use it because they literally just snipped the wires

  • @AnotherMovieStudio
    @AnotherMovieStudio 5 лет назад +42

    As somebody who's been researching the Buzzy disappearance and has become quite invested in this whole story, I don't believe Disney has him for a few reasons:
    1. Employee Safety (the Hydraulic fluids spraying all over)
    2. The unprofessional removal could have damaged the animatronic
    3. The Orange County Sheriff's Office is STILL Investigating, and if Disney does have Buzzy and they're fully aware of it, then having the local police looking into a case you know isn't true, that's super illegal.
    4. Not to mention, in a day and age where people will do just about anything for fame or attention on social media, don't you think a Disney employee might take the opportunity to be the one who 'FOUND' Buzzy?
    This interview just doesn't sit with me.

    • @jamesfromit
      @jamesfromit 11 месяцев назад

      @@CarnidevRae I don't really work with stuff like this, this is just my guess at what happened. Before it went missing, they were already having problems with people stealing stuff from the attraction. I think this is probably why they decided to act quickly as it's generally a bad look to have stuff go missing when you pride yourself on security and this only encourages copycats. To make it easier to move and maintain I imagine this stuff is connected with quick disconnects but why bother fiddling with that when you can just cut the wires/tubes and replace them if the attraction ever relaunches. Any rewiring work is a minor expense especially when you're a company like Disney. It is a bit weird though that they haven't found it yet, sure Disney has tons of storage but at this scale you'd expect they'd have a system and a team of people who manage the inventory. Maybe through some miscommunication it got dismantled? Maybe the archival tag was stolen. Who knows.

    • @kauske
      @kauske 5 лет назад +6

      Several thousand dollar asset, in a part that has "low ball" attractions that cost several million. Face it, Buzzy is just garbage to Disney. Someone sliced the wiring harness to shave time taking it down: cdn-images-1.medium.com/max/1400/1*tl0rgjcdmyDoIc7Bmlc9Yw.png
      Probably saved them a few hundred on labour to properly disconnect all the wires to its various motors.

    • @Moonfire121
      @Moonfire121 4 года назад +5

      @@kauske But Buzzy was red-tagged for Disney archives, and the case with a lot of things in the archives is that they are preserved and will get taken out for special events. Even if they end up getting skinned like the most recent Stitch animatronic it's done safely. You don't just hack through a bunch of wires, that's dangerous. Even if Disney abandoned Cranium Command it was still in pretty good condition, so I doubt they would just willingly let someone do a crap job at removing him and causing hydraulic fluids to spew everywhere. Unless of course it was done by some unsupervised rookies.

    • @kauske
      @kauske 4 года назад +1

      Second, because a wiring harness is easily replaced. Instead of trying to disconnect every wire at the source in the air, they just cut the harness, because it's pretty cheap, and safer to remove it for storage on the ground that up above the pit where it's mounted.
      Third, Disney probably doesn't care, this event is likel not at all big enough for them to want to address it. And addressing it would only make it bigger. IF they keep quiet about it, no smokey-bear effect.

      Weirdo_commando08 They won’t. It’s abandoned, and without Buzzy there, since he was stolen, they wouldn’t be able to open it back up anyways. Without him there it’s not a good thing he’s the main part of the attraction and would be weird for them to reopen it without him there if they ever decide to reopen it again.

      It’s safer this way, it’s quicker to get him down and this way they have a guide with what wires go where and it also means that they have to check everything while replacing the cut wires, apparently it’s a common thing with things like this with big complicated wiring

      There was an old ride at EPCOT called Cranium Command. It has been left abandoned for years, with the animatronic still there in the closed down ride. A hat and coat from the Buzzy character went missing. Then, later, Buzzy (and one other character from the ride) went missing. I have seen one police report for the missing coat and hat of the character, but supposedly there is a police report for Buzzy too. But Disney refuses to comment on the situation.

      @Pewdiepie Fab 64,709 That was stupid or not smart on disney's part. Sure its abandoned and supposed to be forgotten, but they should have put some type of security on the place like cameras. But that is just my opinion.

    I do not know what to believe. If he was not stolen then why was there a mess and no one has mentioned the little guy that was also stolen?? Is he also so called there in Disney with Buzzy? I am sorry but if Disney really did all this they are not as cool as I thought. To play with people like this. But I think he really is gone and they said he is back when in fact he is still missing. They were never going to reopen the spot he was in so they made up a thing that he was stolen so they never ever have to put up with everyone bringing it up and its sad. I never got a chance to see any of this and know they made it so I will Never ever get to see him doing his job. I never get this places that take down stuff that people enjoy. If it was well loved as much as I am seeing then put it back in running order and stop removing stuff that is making money. They do it just to put up crap in its place and then they lose even more money. I have no clue what is going on with this poor Buzzy guy but its sad and its messing with to many people. Disney needs to get there head back to the beginning and stop just thinking about money and think about what the park was first made for US. That's all I have to say. Case they keep wrecking the park and they do not care.

    • @kauske
      @kauske 5 лет назад +1

      You call this a mess? cdn-images-1.medium.com/max/1400/1*tl0rgjcdmyDoIc7Bmlc9Yw.png One clean cut to the wiring harness. Someone just didn't want to spend time unhooking the power cables, probably because it wasn't engineered with a quick disconnect. So they just cut the writing harness.
      Cutting wiring umbilicals is pretty common during decommissioning, it's fast, and if the object is just going to be disposed of anyhow, saving time is more important than preservation. You can also just make a new harness easy or re-splice the cut one if needed.

    This video is half a year old now, but judging by the comments, not many people have seen this: ruclips.net/video/EGyXb59_9bc/видео.html
    I'm not saying that this debunks this whole thing, as I really don't have a good understanding of the situation. Though, the video I linked has a lot of information that I personally agree with and believe that contradicts, including a recent statement from Disney that confirms that they do not have the animatronic and have reported it as stolen. The points made in this video regarding the clothes are closer to (what I personally believe) is the truth, but it's glossed over and doesn't touch into it like the video I've linked does.
    I urge anyone who views these two points to make your own conclusion, as this incident has sparked the release of a lot of information, some of which is fake and some of which is real. Personally though, I think this person claiming to have found the animatronic either isn't being truthful or isn't telling the full story, though I'm mostly for the former.

  • @bk2524
    @bk2524 11 месяцев назад +1

    I believe it.
    Most of the time this is how these things resolve, coincidentally and without logic.
    No one believing in the theft has adequately explained how they got out the "300 lb" animatronic and into a vehicle.
    Further, based on this video, it's clear that one group of employees failed to notify security of the removal who, realizing the clothing was stolen, probably assumed and reported to the police that Buzzy too was stolen.
    Hence this mess.
    Disney should play a little more active role in the communities it fosters. A simple photo of naked (are his clothes back?) Buzzy would suffice.

      Hydraulics are not good for fine movements like an animatronic needs, those are done with solenoids and stepper motors.
