- If you are on any of the Audi forums that pertain to the C7's then you have undoubtedly seen people ask about the easiest way to upgrade/update their MMI system and install Car Play/Android Auto. If you have seen those posts, then you have likely seen one man's name constantly tagged: Ben Weaving.
Ben runs a website called TheNavMan.com and he specializes in MMI upgrades that you can do at home for a fraction of the cost of getting it done at the Audi Dealership. Not only does he have upgrades for C7's, but many other audi platforms as well. If you don't see something you want available on his website, email him to inquire as the site is still a work in progress.
Even better, if you have an Audi with the 4G MMI system (Facelift C7.5's) then you can also enable Apple Carplay/Android Auto for your vehicle (Sorry C7's... you aren't fancy enough for this but I'm hoping to show an alternative in the near future)

I don't have any upgraded throttle body, but eventually I will.
When I do, I will not be using the overpriced apr throttle body. But I will definitely have a video for it.

I ordered my software as was able to add Car Play/Android Auto to my 2016 A7 Prestige. The process took about 2 hours to complete. I just left my car running during the updates vs purchasing a battery charger/conditioner.
The instructions provided by TheNavMan (Ben Weaver) were absolutely fantastic. Any other site stated that my car does not support Android Auto, but the tech that TheNavMan has setup for our cars is magical.

Same here with my 2016 a7. It had to do one of the updates 3x to get it past an error updating it but it finished and works fine and great. Got wireless CarPlay too but I actually prefer running it wired and only use it on long trips where I need nav. Otherwise it’s easier to use Bluetooth audio to be able to switch around in the MMi without it being weird to get back to CarPlay.
Good stuff. I am 8 hours behind Ben and his team so this saved me from having to wait until both sides of the world were awake.

Updated this past Sunday and CarPlay has been flawless on my C7.5. I’m very satisfied with how this turned out. It took me about 3 hours only because I kept reading and rereading the instructions but overall I highly recommend this product!

I have a 2016 S6 (C7.5) and ordered the SW based on this video and other recommendations. It took awhile, but it works! I now have Apple CarPlay and current maps. Very happy!

Glad I found your vid. Great demo on the install and I pulled the trigger and purchased an update bundle from thenavman for my C7.5. Followed all instructions and it loaded with no issues. Price was reasonable vs dealer for sure.

It was very well worth it for my 2016 A6 3.0T C7.5! Ben was great and it really is the easiest way
I did this update awhile back for the CarPlay. Ben had really good instructions and everything happened as the instructions said it would. Update works well. I have had an issue twice where the carplay doesn't want to connect. But a reset of the car seems to fix it. Otherwise very happy with the investment. Mine took about 2 hours to finish. Thank goodness for the battery maintainer. Great video!

It's a piece of equipment that maintains a charge on your battery while your are using the battery to perform electrical functions without the engine being on (which would keep the alternator running)
Otherwise you would drain your battery.

Just installed on my 2016 A7 Prestige. I was at first apprehensive, not wanting to brick my unit. My son even warned me that this could be a scam and would hold my car for ransome! 😂. The install was very straight forward as long as you can read directions, which are crystal clear. Great to have CarPlay on my A7! I had looked at some of the hardware install options, but those were intrusive and expensive. While I have not tested the upgrade extensively, it certainly seems to work after the install and driving around a bit to check it out!
I will mention that the sound options must now be resolved as I did not have to deselect anything like in the video, just used Standard as the latest directions stated.
I will be doing my wife’s 2018 SQ5 next (already has car play, but the Bluetooth update and the maps update seem well worth the $$).

Does it change how your interface looks?
MMI interface looks the same.
I done the same upgrade but from another guy krzysztof for a a6 c7 page. I was about 50mins on the first one and a hour fornthe maps, there was another option for Google earth that gives you street view etc. Audi stopped there deal with Google so have to do it via a 3rd party server like these guys. And like this guy says 1/4 of what audi wants.
Loads of extras on the maps like the speed of the roads etc.

Great video. I had uploaded some firmware software on a SD card myself months ago, was scared to use it, didn't want to brick my MMI. Asked the performance place that I use for an update when I had the transmission oil changed. Got it for free. Awesome video.
I do not have the "Race" mode on my settings. Did yours come with that or was it part of the flash?

Another great video! I’ve been interested in this for a while and I was considering RSNAV S4 with 3D birds eye view, but I may do this for the time being instead. On another note, I did my passenger side motor mount yesterday. I still need to do my driver’s side. Any tips for the driver’s side?
The drivers side is very complicated compared to the passenger side. You have to let your subframe & remove your oil cooler to do it.
@@AudiC7Owners Replaced both my mounts about a week ago. I did NOT drop my sub frame but instead removed the oil cooler and AC pump. The hardest part was the oil cooler, you cannot see 3 of the bolts. I used a ratcheting 1/4" wrench to connect to a 3/8" to 1/4" socket adaptor which connected to my torx/tripple square bit. I felt with my fingers to find and then insert into the bolt head. Very tedious. BUT It is possible. Also best tip was to put them back in, I used super glue to glue the bolt to the bit then I could line the bolt into the (unseen) bold hole and start the threading process without loosing the small 1" long bolt. Super glue is easy to break the bond after you have it nice and snug to remove the bit. That definitely saved me some hassle. Hope this helps.

Hi. I own a 2020 Audi A4 tdi quattro with touchscreen. There is no navigation and no even usb carplay. I watched your videos. I am wondering if i update my MMI software is it possible to use carplay with cable? What do you think? I am not a fan of using wireless carplay.

JUST finished my updates on my B8.5 S4! My instructions were JUST like yours EXCEPT I have installed the RSNAV on my car so I had to contact Ben for some assistance, but he was able to walk me through the slight tweaks I needed to do in order to complete everything else!

Just an FYI, if you have the USB adapter you can use USB Thumb drives the same as the SD Cards (if you opted to download the files rather than have them sent to you in the mail). Just did mine and it worked smoothly.

I wonder if there is a way to transplant the newer MMI into a pre-facelift A6.
It's either that, buy a different screen that's kind of like an Android tablet, or also a full replacement with RSNav.
Far too much work compared to just installing rsnav

Quick question. Does the installation affect the original backup camera and parking sensor? My 2016 A7 has a parking sensor button that when pressed, it will enable backup camera and parking sensor and the backup camera will take control of the LCD.
It works perfectly in sync. If you press the parking aid button the camera comes up immediately.

I got an android touch screen now that does Apple car play & android auto. There is a video about it.
But you should be able to Sandy's old phones via your mmi.
The mmi update does help with Bluetooth connectivity.
Just completed my upgrade, thanks a ton for that. Maps Firmware etc.. All looks good, but the Bluetooth connection STILL takes forever :/

i just purchased and am waiting for it to come, tell me, could i do the updates while driving? dont get me wrong . I would be parked to follow the instructions and instead of just sitting on the drive way while it reads the file i could go for a drive and go somewhere ? Would that be possible?

I would not advise doing it while driving. Just download Netflix on your phone
After maps update, 1min after of Q7 starts i see the message "Navigation data are not enabled".
Second issue with MMI Upgrade no sound from the BOSE system.
I think you need to uncheck the box before updating like the video shows no bang and Olufsen or Bose updates

I would like to ask if you know which of the folders from MMI update package contains or is responsible for the displayed languages? (I have used a script to overwrite one of them but its not what I was looking for). I was wandering If I can re-apply only the update for languages folder, not whole firmware. Thanks a lot!

Nice! I updated my system awhile ago for free but it looks like my maps are out of date again. I have the same software version but 6.16.2 for nav database.

We still do the SD cards. We have periods of digital only sales depending on demand and staff resources as we don’t want to let any of our customers down 👍👍
Hello Cameron.... can you shed some light on how to remove these codes 03623 release code faulty and 03276 software version management using my obd11...I don't have vcds but these codes are showing in multimedia on my obd11.. thank you.. they came on after nav and software update install.

That isn't what dictates your MMI. If you have a 2012-2015 c7 green you have 3g+ more than likely.

I've had my 2015 Audi A6 (c7)..{guess it's not a 7.5 } (manufactured date 9/2014-per sticker in door) updated to allow me to open my windows and Sunroof remotely, and I can close them remotely. If I update my firmware and Maps, will this change that coding, effectively removing that?

Sounds like a dsg problem. Take it to a shop to get diagnosed
Has anyone had their C7 MMI screen stuck open? Mine works perfectly. Just stuck open … wondering if it would affect the reboot if I do this update. I have an a6 prestige. Thanks!
There is a nylon cord that pulls the screen up & down that you can replace. It could potentially be a bad motor or issue with the wiring harness. You will have to disassemble it to inspect.
In respect to any updates it would not affect the install. Hope that helps
it d be better if you could show the result of the update and see if it actually made any difference with the interface or map views and updated addresses for 2022-2023
It definitely updated all my maps. No significant changes to the views.

Unrelated to this video but yes it will show you any faults existing on the vehicle
It will show you fault codes, but honestly they are very hard to diagnose. I'd suggest taking the car to a shop that has the ability to diagnose it
Antenna om the roof. Mine had the same problem and it threw a code for the antenna

How do you get all the different drive modes? Is it a A6 thing? My A7 has comfort, Auto, Dynamic, or individual.
You can use obd11 to enable them 🤘🏼
I did this the other day and everything works EXCEPT I now have no control over the audio treble, subwoofer, can't select where the speakers are coming from. Ben is telling me this is not accessible when plugged in via android auto or apple car play, however it SHOULD be accessible if disconnected which for me is still not the case.
I didn't have any issues with that at all. Hopefully Ben can help you figure it out

Great vids. After doing the MIB update, the summary says launcher "OK" and "-" for everything else. I reboot, but I'm not getting the GEM when I press the button sequence. It's the same sequence I'm using to get to the REM. The instructions say follow the same sequence but I'm only getting the REM. Any help would be appreciated
Tried a different sequence and I was able to get the GEM. Successful installation and rebooted

Update purchased and files received. All installed. But CarPlay and AndroidAuto is not active. No support reaction for days afterwards…

I tried this and couldn't get the update button to work it was greyed out, so I couldn't select it with the big knob ?

Will this help update my Bluetooth because I can’t use my phone for Bluetooth nor can I delete any Bluetooth any more
depending on your system it does update elements of the Bluetooth software. Issues such as connectivity delays, audio dropouts and device compatibility improvements
