Prince Phillip had been her constant. He was the longest serving consort. As she said "the price we pay for love is grief". May their souls rest in peace.
That footage of his helping her down from the dais at the Opening of Parliament, despite his own great age is one of the most moving things.
In that regard she was luckier than Queen Victoria.

She could've had such a carefree and easy life, but instead she placed her country first. She never once shrank from her duties and literally swore in a new prime minister less than 2 days before her passing. That kind of dedication and patriotism is something younger generation simply doesn't understand.

I was born in 1952 when the old king died. We lived in Poplar ,east London, and I have a photo with my dear old dad at the Lizzie coronation Street party in 1953. It will never be the same. Queen Elizabeth 2 held us all together. God bless the king but he will need all his mother's powers to preserve our monarchy.

I cried as well. I stopped watching the Royal Family well over a decade ago, but the Queen's passing has saddened me greatly.

My mothers wedding dress (1952) was modelled on that of the Queen . I realised only recently. My father was born 8 days after Elizabeth, so it was always easy for us kids to know the Queens age… Both my parents died a while ago. How can I not relate.
Not gonna lie, the moment the news were given, I was waiting for someone here on RUclips to publish some sort of memorial to her with THIS ICONIC SONG as background. Was not disappointed.

I personally feel anxiety of the future without her as she was like a grandmother to all I am sad I never met her I did however meet the now King Charles III and the Queen consort Camilla. Born, raised and 69 years Irish, I also mourn her. Never my head of state, but she was always queen, all my life. Her coronation took place 28 days before I was born, in the same month. I had really hoped and kept my fingers crossed that she would make it to at least June 30th 2023, to celebrate both her coronation and my birthday. Imagine, we would have had a right royal 70 in common! Well done, beautiful tribute. Watching and listening to your choice of music, and some images I've never seen before, and others all my life, for the seventeenth time, or thereabouts.
thankyou Paul. i too am 69 (next May) The Queen always wanted to visit Ireland despite the troubles that were coming to an end, although like a cancer may never truly be gone. but to Ireland she went and i loved the welcome that Ireland gave her. ok some didn't get it but we get that in England too. any politics, History, terrorism or bloodshed over many years can not be attributed to this lady who did her best over the years but has no real say in politics or government except advice to people who did listen to her, i mean how many prime ministers has she given advice to? but her visit to Ireland still ranks as one of her remarkable visits in her Reign. Hopefully those who watched her touching funeral heard the simple words of the Sermon by the Archbishop that the Queen was a devout servant of Christ and that by following him, her soul will ascend to Heaven and she will reunited with her family and husband. The second verse of Holst's sublime hymm also alludes to that. May her long example be an inspiration to those who are alone, ill, or struggling with the temptations of this life. May Her country reflect on those words and make the UK a greener and more pleasant land and a holier land. May the Queen's family come together and heal the needless wounds between the grandsons.
